Thanks for the plug on the masonry work. My son is a baker so he would like #14. Long handle shovel to clean out ovens. Everything went through the same opening; fuel, dough, bread came out and clean up. They would build a fire right in the area to heat then shove the fire to the back to make room for the bake goods. Thank you very much for the tour. Greg

The Abom size cannons are 40# Parrot Rifles. Another has already mentioned them. Ten and twenty pounders were field artillery, especially the 10#ers, they were pretty common. Rifles fired bullett shaped projectiles.
The cannon on a carriage inside was a 12# Mountain Howitzer. It fired a 12# round projectile and the cannon was a smooth bore. Howitzers had a smaller diameter chamber than the bore diameter and the powder charge, which was in a bag, was small and fit into that chamber. The bag was attached to the around projectile by a wooden disband straps were attached to eh disk to strap the projectile.
I used to build full scale fireable Civil War artillery.

On cannons of that era, you can find the build date stamped either on the end of a trunnion, or on the muzzle. The first one you went by up top of the fort was 1832.
