    My new favorite salad topping! I used salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder and smoked paprika. Excellent and they keep in a sealed container in the fridge for days.

    Oh wow Jerry those look fantastic! Kinda like cornnuts or soynuts.
    I'm wondering how chili&lime crunchy lentils would be. I make chili&lime coconut oil popcorn and it's my son's fav flavor. I use chili powder and the juice and zest of one lime stirred into one whole Dutch oven of fresh popped corn.
    Oh, also dill and onion powder are delicious together.
    And Sriracha, not too much though.
    Ok, I better stop. Thanks for this video. And thanks for the GF snack idea. I really appreciate it.
    Edit- those are three separate flavor ideas in case that's not clear, not just one long rambling recipe where I just keep adding more stuff. Lol. Cheers.

    My daughter-in-law had some store-bought roasted lentils and they were absolutely crunchy and delicious but I want to try making this from scratch as it will make a lot and be much cheaper than store-bought! Thank you for sharing your recipe I'm soaking my lentils now

    It might be awful, but I gotta try it.

    So glad I found this! If I prepare lentils in this way (without the spices) before adding them to rice pilaf, will they stay crunchy?

    • @jerryjamesstone
      @jerryjamesstone  Před 4 lety

      Are you talking about mixing them into the pilaf or just topping the pilaf

    • @JakeDAmico
      @JakeDAmico Před 4 lety +2

      @@Kari77251 I'm pretty certain that your only option will be to combine them immediately before serving them. It will take a while for these lentils to absorb the moisture from the pilaf, so this approach should work just fine.

    Actually, lentils are a go to food for me! I make them, bundle them, freeze them and have them on hand for all sorts of substitutions. 1) thaw, refresh in some broth (your choice), add: onion , garlic, chili, cumin and a touch of olive oi - stuff into a cruchy taco shell...add your favorite toppings and done! 2) go spicier with italian blend, more garlic and use as an add-in to spagette sauce (you can also add mushrooms, pepper bits and onion). 3) like #1, use inside a soft tortilla with some chopped bits of onion, drizzle with some salsa and sprinkle some cheese...oh, yeah! The possibilities are endless.
