I have the Syntopicon as well as Great Treasury of Western Thought: A Compendium of Important Statements and Comments on Man and His Institutions by Great Thinkers in Western History of which the latter seems like a more portable version of the Syntopicon. Either way the former is incredible and very useful.
I would recommend reading the material across disciplines and in historical order of time, so as to better grasp the evolution and interconnectedness of western thought.
I think this is essential. And that it can lead to a considerably fuller and more subtle understanding of whichever general line of thought the reader prefers.
you can draw parallells with the philosophers, theologians, scientists of our own time
Great point!
Thanks for introducing me to the Syntopicon. I look forward to your next video!
I chose to go with the Harvard Classics over the Great Books series, but I might have to add the Syntopicon to the list, looks very comprehensive.
It's a good resource to have available.
how do you read plays? I’ve been struggling to understand the formatting of Aristophanes’ plays
patrots day should be a national holiday

those two tiny books are much too small to meaningfully represent anything of note
