One year, I went as Hermione Granger and because I didn't want to waste a wig the next year I went as Korra.

Before Drag became the 'mainstream' version of itself, a group of 4 or 5 of us would do group themed drag. The last time we all wore vintage Caftans (aka Moo-Moos) with Bouffant Wigs. Real retro 60's-70's. Sorta Valley of the Dolls meets cocaine. There was enough Aqua Net Super Hold on those wigs to start a forest fire! hahaha.
And re: 5:30. I know what happened to that Pharaoh costume's missing pyramids. There's a restaurant in my hometown that has a stock photo of the pyramids on its roadside sign... it's a sushi bar.
This makes me miss taking my kids to get Halloween costumes every year when they were little… 😢
But them costumes anyway and give it to them. They won’t wear it, but if you do it every year they’ll get the message. 😂

The best one I think was making a dragon costume which I had to stuff with plastic grocery bags and everybody was stepping on my son's tail all day at school.
I went to work at the phone company as the bride of Frankenstein and when I went to the party afterwards my daughter would not ride home with me!
And the time I got a plastic mold of some humongous plastic boobs and covered them with some matching flesh tone latex! People would turn on their heels, then laugh their ass off!
So don't give up on Halloween! Get out there and serve Halloween out of the trunk of your car! That will really scare the hell out of them!!!

Go yourself or with friends! I'm sure you can find a costume event where adults are welcome.

So true about Halsted. I was DRESSED to see Gaga and was so self conscious until I made it to Waveland & Halsted. Once I hit that block I instantly felt better and good about my fit. I should store some fun costume masks in my bag so I won't be caught under dressed in town on my next trip to Whole Foods.

I absolutely ADORE this incredibly FABULOUS man! I'd literally go trick-or-treating with him if I could (yes, as adults! I'd be the witch or the vampire! 😁) Watching Matteo run around that place like he was an 8 year old girl was just SO freaking cute! "I don't care, I'm buying this scepter!" That's just so awesome and sweet. He's perfectly content to unabashedly prance around the store as a young little princess would! He's just so much fun to watch here and it is impossible to NOT love the guy! His enthusiasm is contagious and his constant gasping is hysterically funny! Like I said (elsewhere in the comments here) I wish he was my kid!!! I am absolutely in LOVE with this hyperactive, whirlwind of a doll! 💜💜💜

Preschool…ruby red slippers…since were the same age I actually think i know the branded “ruby slippers” you’re talking about. There was a random “omg wizard of oz” thing that happened in the super late 80s and my great aunt got my gay ass a pair of the slippers. My grandma hid then in her house for me when I came over. I also used to play in her furs. How did they not know lol
