Edit : there are alot of different dryer too.. And I have one completely without no filter to clean its a washer/dryer combination..
But as far as I've seen the filter gets bypassed somehow... And all the stuff Wich gathers in a pipe usually gathers in the machine over time.

Basically in Belgium this is now totally forbidden to have a vent for the tumble dryers. Water should be collected in a reservoir inside the dryer or be expelled through a pipe. Lint is collected in the inside filter on each cycle and if you don't, the dryer goes on error mode when too full. For the ones still using a vent, insurance companies do not cover damages if they can prove vent was not properly maintained and created a fire.
Edit: I have now precised a country to avoid misunderstanding and miscomprehension 🙂

We have a lint trap (filter) inside the dryer that you remove from the drum portion and clean with your fingers. Manufacturer recommends this be cleaned every time before you push the start button. I even clean multiple times if I am drying a heavy load such as towels or jeans. A lot of people do not do this. Also, go outside every so often to clean the outdoor vent exit.
