I LOVE how he always makes sure to hit the "everything got eaten nothing got wasted" note so hard every time. Man after my own heart. You rule Alvin.
but he just says so. they actually just eat a bit, nibble on the food for the camera, then toss the rest
@@michaelwesten4624 You can literally see them packaging it and handing it off, that's a lot of work to throw away perfectly edible food?
@@michaelwesten4624Nah, they take it home. It's free food from work, why would you throw it away if it's edible?
I’ve always wondered if they compost
Ive seen Andrew do tours of his kitchen studio - it definitely goes home to people @@michaelwesten4624 -
Mmm Korean corn dog at 9 am anyone?
8 am for me but yes!
ngl perfer mine at 6 am
9 am is a great time for Korean corn dog! With Boba of course!
7:30 am!!
7:40 for me
Instead of having one block of cheese that melts and comes out in one stretch, maybe slice the cheese and hot dogs into sections and alternate the pieces on the skewer.
This could be a game changer IMO. I'm always wishing the cheese was more with the dog instead of an either/or, so this would fix that and keep the same feel and concept. How have I not thought of that!!
I always thought this should be the way but I'd imagine there's a reason Korean corn dog places don't do this. Don't know if that reason exists but would be very happy to be wrong
@@JayKaysianspeed I would imagine? These are small-ish operations so prep space and extra people to keep the speed up might not happen
Corn dog kabob?
Your idea, make it a hot pepper cheese and some sort of fruity candy dip, and I'm gonna need a heart doctor within a month with how many I'll eat!
I love how you show that you use all your ingredients and have such innovative ideas for using the leftovers and projects that don't go the way you'd planned.
Is it unhealthy? Yup
Will you still eat it? Of course.
How do you know?
Most likely just two bites,.but not the whole baby. My body hates too much greasy food.
Yup
Why is it dipped in sugar after? Because America
@@jwalster9412 He outright said the sugar thing is a Korean tradition-
Yup, my favorite snack as a Korean. I always appreciate it when this channel introduces food from my country. Thank you so much guys!
My Italian grandmother used to make what she called "Pizza fritte". Essentially fried bread dough that we slathered in butter and cinnamon-sugar. Batter here is pretty much the same thing. Awesome stuff.
I like how Alvin goes to great lengths to make sure none of the food goes to waste.
That flan! Gorgeous! What a treat it must be to work there where Alvin is packing so many wonderful things for people to take home.
I know it's often brought up, but I wanted to reiterate that it's a big relief for me knowing that Alvin will always try to use up the scraps. In this case, there was a TON of dough left, and I was happy to see all the experiments they did to put it to use
I love that you try your best to waste as little as possible and ensure everyone takes food home.
6:20 THE MAGICAL KETCHUP BOTTLE, WHERE ARE YOUR CONTENTS GOING???
I remember the time I was watching street food videos and got fascinated by the wonders of Korean street food, especially the star dish of the episode.
I think cutting the hotdog in half lengthwise and having an equally-long length of cheese side by side would be my ideal cheesy corndog construction. Get cheese and 'dog in the same bite!
I'll try to make this. Looks yummy.
Future request: I saw this weird recipe online called Coconut Udon noodles with tofu. Can you make a version of the recipe? I want to see why this sits rent free in my memories. 😅
When you were playing tug of war with the hot dog. I heard Chef John in my head saying “never let the food win!” I love this series bc I’m always wondering how the food on these late night videos are made.
Honestly seeing how you don't waste food and utilize any extra ingredients for other snacks or meals has to be my favorite part of the show.
Liking that chocolate one. Tempted to put 2 of those chocolate squares sandwiched together with some jam in the middle, maybe raspberry or strawberry (or blackcurrant if you can get it)
와 한밤중에 이 영상을 올리시다니
지금 잠을 자야하는데 갑자기 배고파졌어요ㅠㅠㅋㅋ
wonderful, i’m already hungry from ramadan and now i’m watching a master foodsmith
this is gonna be a mistake but that’s fine
Haha same, this went up right after Suhoor and I'm starving.
Wait til you est egg soup!
I remember watching SCM Johnny's review on Link Between Worlds while fasting, then suddenly saw the Burger Boss and my stomach rumbled so much!
It's funny that Korean-style "corn dogs" contain no corn. The original American-style corn dogs are called that because they are coated with a cornmeal batter.
It's actually called hot dog in South Korea
I don't know if it's just a Canadian thing but I see mostly pogo brand "corn dogs"
@@jwalster9412in other countries it’s called corn dog so it’s no confusing.
More Alvin! Love everything he does. It's so calming yet funny and informative
You should follow his channel then. He makes remarkable videos.
@@jameswent48 I've seen it! Really like the 100 h tiramisu video
I never thought of putting yeast in the batter, that is really cool!
It's crazy that these haven't taken off in the American fair food circuit!
I love that you explain how the food doesn't go to waste.
I watch K-dramas and K-reality shows in which corn dogs are a frequent food. Jinny's Kitchen is one in particular that made a LOT of corn dogs. So, I was loving this and then you had the genius idea to use chocolate. That looks amazing!
Andrew bringing Alvin into the Babish Universe has been the best thing ever🥰☺️☺️
Was hoping to find these online if there are some that are frozen and can be bought from Korean supermarkets. Thanks Alvin for this 🥰
I love that we got our flan as promised lol I was definitely curious even though I didn’t EXPECT to get it.
I literally just watched like 4 of those street food videos and then got this in my recommended 😂
I've had one of these at a place called Mochinut. It's very greasy and certainly not the healthiest, but the taste is worth it as a treat.
anyone skeptical of the sugar: i get it but its a WILD difference!!! also my local food truck does a sweet and mellow honey mustard instead of reg mustard and its REALLY nice.
I've always wanted to try these! Cool video!
Just made my first Korean corn dogs the first time and the hard part was getting the spiral battering. Realized part of it is the unequal ratio on the hotdogs and cheese.
맛있는😋👍
must be a nice place to work. never go home hungry
i tried this recipe last week! it was really tasty but it was almost impossible to coat the sausage with the dough. the dough would pull on the sausage too much and take it off of the stick. i guess i need more practice...
There's a place near my work that does these. Have yet to try them.
With enough batter the possibilities are endless!
I literally had one of these at Universal Hollywood a few days ago! It was delicious!
the chocolate bar in the batter was a GENIUS idea
Deep fried Mars bar is the national dish of Scotland - you almost included it in this video :)
Staple in Australian Fish and Chip shops too. Absolutely delicious.
Excellent vid, Alvin!!! I LOVE Korean corn dogs so much, always a favorite snack of mine at a con!! ❤️❤️😊😊 And I love how you made sure nothing got wasted by making so much more than those with leftover batter, from the mozzarella sticks, to the chocolate donuts!! You have come through once again! ❤️❤️👍👍😃
Nothing hits harder than Korean street food!!!
It's Ramadan and I'm watching this while fasting and I don't even like corn dogs but now I want a corn dog 😂
in ramadan cooking videos are so much more entertaining
I for one love the taste and texture of a traditional cornbread batter, but this seems like a decent alternative if the grittiness of cornmeal bothers you. Though I might call it a cornless dog for obvious reasons.
I love how we trailed into making a bunch of other foods 😊
I thought the dough usually had rice flour in it? 1:43
Love Korean corn dog but my place offers sugar as a possibly topping. I try to do one of the others didn't like it with the sugar
I really like this Korean Corn Dog with more cheese in it👍👍👍👍👍
Please make the food that Wat talks about in A Knight’s Tale!
Eel pie. Brie tarts. Tansy cakes with peppermint cream.
Dilled veal balls with squash fritters!
I thought you said _Grey Yeast Situation_ as in a _Grey Goo Event_ :P
For you who don't know, a _GGE_ is when nanomachines replicate endlessly across anything they come in contact with until everything is... Well.
Also I thought since it was called _Corn_ dogs, that they were dipped in corn not potatos o.o
I'm drooling through the whole video, seriously want one
There is a place near me that makes Korean corn dogs. I have to get one!
i remember these from my study abroad. they are so horrible for you, but incredible yummy! Miss them
I don't even really like hot dogs but Korean corn dogs I love, especially with a garlic mayo sauce
Make mine with pepper jack, please! Looks amazing!
I need to make these for my girlfriend, we had them on our first date and I’d love to surprise her with them :)
I'm allergic to corn, and this batter made me so hyped. No corn!
I like how he insists that it's the ketchup and mustard that make it a "corn dog" and not, you know, corn meal!
@@DougAdams My thoughts exactly. Not saying this is a bad idea, but maybe call it a cornless dog instead.
Yum.... I miss these since starting keto.
Gotta think of a solid keto version of this to put on my channel.
Hmm... instead of bread crumbs, pulverized pork rinds?
*seeing the corndog slap*
“I should call him.”
Oh my. They look so yum!
Day 183 of petitioning Babish to make the Triple Fried Egg Sandwich with Chilli Sauce and Chutney from Red Dwarf
Could u air fry instead and if so what temp and time
I wanna make these now
Will you please do a dragon ball anime with Alvin in honor of the late great Akita toriyama?
He made Dragon Balls a couple weeks ago!
@@goobers8707 yeah that was before his passing though and you can so make more foods they eat like all the time.
I like Alvin. Never watched any episode with Alvin in it mind you. Only watch babish. And I’ve been seeing Alvin way more. Lately
Here in the south, we would refer to those fried balls of leftover dough as hushpuppies.
the chocolate covered in doe and fried reminded me of the black butler curry donuts lol!!
there's a mochi/tea/korean hot dog spot near my town and i've always been curious about their corn dogs, but i really don't like corn dogs. it looks like the korean one is pretty different from the american one based on this video. so thanks for breaking that down. maybe i'll get a corn dog next time i stop by that place
So we all agree that a Dungeon Meshi special is gonna have to happen?
I want that flan, its one of my fav desserts.
This is what love feels like.
This could have doubled as taking from that episode of King of the Hill where the guys were deep-frying everything they could think of.
I thought those potatoes were Captain crunch at first. That would have been so much better in my opinion. Although it might be better to grind it up and use it instead of the panko.
Well either way, I love the look of that batter. I love how versatile it is. I'm going to get a bunch of random stuff and just fry everything in it. Mozzarella. Cheddar. Fruit. Pepperoni. Spam. Bacon. Eggs. Everything.
I like Alvin. Hope to see more of him in the future.
Dude Korean food is just amazing, can we admit that.
I hoped for a potato crusted version of the chocolate doughnut thingy, ngl.
What a dream job... getting to take this beautiful food home with you everyday? Not to mention you get to work with people like Babbish, Alvin, and Senpai!
My next meeting at work, I might bring in a bunch of these. We have some vegetarians so there'll be something fro everybody!
오우 이 영상보고 핫도그 땡겼어요 고마워요 🤤🤤 Thank you Birish l love video ❤
Coreans really did perfect the corn dog.
The amount of fry in his voice!
Woulda been fire if you layered them like shish kabobs instead of half and half
Would that batter work with chicken, or would the outside burn before the chicken was fully cooked?
7:15 Looks like Polish pączki or German krapfen.
7:10 Wonder if there were any *mars bars* around to deep fry, lol
You should try the fish cake version of this. It’s delicious.
Another day where I wish that corn dogs would be attainable where I live
Got to try this at a mini anime convention, it was DELICIOUS 😋
I approve of the no food waste. :) those who have the means should not abuse it, even if they can't just simply donate it all. (And sometimes you can, but it depends on a lot of circumstances)
Honestly I'm not a fan of the Korean hotdog. I get them occasionally here in Korea because they are quick and easy to get. But they are too sweet and oily. The sausage is kinda bland and small. So you really need the sauce to give it flavor. But then it's way too sweet. So thick and crispy they shred the roof of your mouth.
Despite all that they aren't bad per se. I just think you could really improve them a lot with seasoning.
I really want try making the mozzerella balls.
Look at that! A recipe so I no longer have to spend money at the korean corndog shop that opened last week around the corner from my house. XD
Thank you, Alvin! :D
There also have spicy sausages with jalapeno and sweet potato cubes.
OOOuuuu...i wanna try it, but slice up the hot dog, and use chz cubes. then alternate it on the stick..... so its like ... chz, hot dog, chz, hot dog ETC
Reminds me of the fried curry pan🤤
Sounds yummy!!!
I zoned out at the beginning and saw Alvin take out a cake. I was so confused how a hotdog turned into a cake.
The only corn involved was the cornstarch on the potatoes?
우왓! 우리나라 핫도그라니.!!
