The guy is a legit monster. He's skilled, tough as nails, and punches with real spite. Was scary to watch when he started to unload on Thompson. Looked like he wanted to take his head off. Riakhpore had a lucky escape not fighting him because that would've happened to him. None of the other cruiserweight champions are gonna be in a rush to fight him.

He gives me strong Usyk vibes. Not just the thing of being a Southpaw with great footwork, but also the ‘humble badass’ energy. The only thing that stops him being Undisputed is Boxing politics and blackballing. He’s a P4P top 10 guy in waiting for me.

It would be great if they organised a WBSS tournament again. Usyk was able to make a real name for himself when he participated, and it also put the entire cruiserweight division in the spotlight.
Imagine Opetaia in such a tournament.

@@SWJ_ He probably would. When Usyk and Briedis competed, the stars were aligned; 1) a lot of tough, dangerous cruiserweights who were at their best, and 2) all the top guys were wanted to enter the tournament.
So it was a bit of an unusual yet ideal situation. Today, many of the better cruiserweights would probably skip it.

It's a shame that cruiserweight is one of the more unheralded divisions in boxing, lacking fanfare even when it is stacked (as it was during the WBSS) but hopefully Opetaia can get the big fights and continue making a name for himself.

Don't think he was allowed to. Like Joe Joyce, he's very slow and signposts his shots really. He doesn't have a great jab either. I was surprised at how ordinary he looked to be honest. So I'm hesitant to get carried away by that performance from opetaia but I did see the mairis Briedis fight and that tells you enough.
