  • New digital torque wrench made by Yellow Jacket. A little insight on how it works. Here is where I bought it: www.ebay.com/itm/Yellow-Jacke...
And a more in depth manual that doesn't come with it, but is available on their site: yellowjacket.com/wp-content/u...

Great video, I have the rothernberger mechanical wrench and it’s a bit difficult to set as you have to turn the handle and the numbers are not clear as different numbers mean different things! You also have to make sure you use it the right way round, as if you go the wrong way with it it doesn’t click out and you can over tighten very easy to do on a long day and in the dark working from flashlights😮 this would be much quicker gonna buy one many thanks for showing its features! The memory storage will save time massively especially as I only work with Mitsubishi 👊👊👊

    I just purchased the product
    “Digital Torque Wrench 60648”
My wrench came with a single adjustable head (the smaller one)
In the manual the following text appears:
Applied torque at setpoint = Entered Torque Setting *
    • For ratchet head 1
    • For adjustable head 0.782
    • For large adjustable head 0.75
This text is very ambiguous and raises a few questions:
    1. Do I have to adjust my set value by a factor of 0.782 (i.e. if I want 25 N-m do I need to set 25 * 0.782 = 19.55 on the digital display)
    2. Or was the wrench calibrated using the adjustable head it came with such that the displayed torque value is the actual torque value at the head.
    3. If I later purchase the ratchet head or the large adjustable head do I need to calculate the torque setting using the factors described above?
    4. If I change heads is there a way to tell the wrench which head is installed such that the wrench calculates the correct torque using those factors?
I just used a quinn 3/8 drive digital torque adapter to test this and it does appear that 10 ft-lbs on the quinn lands close to 7.8 ft-lbs on the yellow jacket.

If the manual states what you just listed, then yes, you would multiply and adjust your setting. I don’t recall seeing that in my manual, and I haven’t had issues with using the set torque, but they may have done more extensive testing and found the multiplier was needed for accuracy.

How are you liking this yellow jacket torque wrench? On the bigger nuts do you see the jaws starting to slip around the nut? Any cons to it?

Anthony Reardon hvacr I’m liking it very well. I’ve used it on 1/4”-5/8”, and haven’t noticed any issues with the jaws trying to open and slip. Just remember to back it up with another wrench.

I purchased this brand new from our HVAC supplier in London UK.
It kept crashing on the first use. We even changed the batteries but still did not work. Returned it the next day.
I was looking really forward to have this in my toolkit, and it was Yellow Jacket which is a great brand.
What are your thoughts and how many’s jobs have you used it on? Please advise as I’m still on the market to buy one.
    Thankyou Mo.

addaz786 I’ve used it quite a bit. I’ve got presets for 1/4”, 3/8”, 1/2” and 5/8”, and I always take my batteries out when not in use. It sounds like you got a bad unit out of the box, I would’ve just swapped it out for a new one, if it was available. I think JB makes one as well, looks very similar. YJ usually has good stuff, but when electronics are involved, anything can go wrong. But mine is holding up.

    How is it holding up?

    • @tcphvacr9950
      @tcphvacr9950  Před 3 lety +2

Very well. I keep the batteries out when not in use (just like my leak detectors that aren’t rechargeable). I’ve got my first 4 presets set to 1/4”-5/8”, which saves me time from looking up the torque specs when tightening flare connections.
