There may be no bias, but I do get concerned about perspective. Saying a $900 printer that costs $280 to ship is a great deal, sorry that is way too expensive for an improvement in quality I will never notice on the gaming table or even on display. The Elegoo Mars 2 Pro (newer than my printer) is $250 with free shipping on Amazon and, other than being smaller, it works great. When you pay for this stuff yourself, you have a completely different perspective on these printers. I just see no reason to spend over $1200 (once tax is included) for a level of detail I will likely never notice, a level of reliability I already get and a speed of print I really, as a person doing this for a side hobby, don't need. And I have been printing with that little printer for over 2 1/2 years now and it is still going strong.

I think it depends what you’re after. The detail you get on these printers is insane. If you’re just after stuff that looks good at over arms length away on the table, then this isn’t what you’re after. If you’re wanting to print detailed stuff for painting display type stuff, then you want the best quality printer you can get.

Maybe if your business is reliant on high spec printing then £800+ is a justifiable cost that you can write off against business expenses but for the average hobbyist (or even the most anally challenged nerd) it just doesn’t stack up. I've had 2 phrozen printers...both had severe build quality issues, and when I tried to contact their customer service they blamed me for the mechanical issues and refused to honour warranty. I purchased the two z rail upgrade kits even though I proved that my units were faulty and needed them, and one of the upgrade kits was also manufactured incorrectly - I brought this up to them and...they blamed me for not installing it correctly and refused to honour warranty. It's funny how all these issues are "caused by me" despite the fact that I have had 5 other printers and never had issues with them. But yeah, guess I don't know what I'm doing.

The fact that you like Phrozen must be because you get them for FREE. Phrozen is one of the most expensive and over-priced printer companies "a little more expensive" - Almost as bad as Prusa (but they are just crazy expensive). Personally I use and love a bunch of Anycubic printers mostly as they are a ton cheaper and since they are going to need part replacements those are even cheaper than most, and they are all amazing as far as print quality. Don't really need 8k in my honest opinion unless you are doing contest pieces or maybe for high-end selling, but most prints I sell are 4K not 8K. Also, the build plate for the Phrozen series has a terrible adhesion issue, and I have actually seen a few reviews that have shown how to sand the build plates down to make them work. These are over-priced and there are better and just as good machines for less. $1,000 for the mighty, or $700 for the mini vs $500 - $600 for an equivalent printer. I mean I get it, you get them for free so of course they are great, but for those of us that have to go out and buy them Phrozen needs to come down on price a bit. Plus from what I hear customer support is horrible.

Resin is not durable to the point where its rubbery like reaper bones. Its a hard plastic, and most brands are a little brittle. However you can offset this with different options like Siraya tech tenacious. Mixing it 1:10 ratio. My personal results come from using the tenacious with fast navy grey. -- Note that adding tenacious to any mix is well tenacious. It makes support removal slightly more difficult.
Pass on the phrozon 8k mighty if you're just printing miniatures and you're not working against the deadline. Go with the elegoo saturn 2 if you want something much more affordable, with an even bigger build volume than the phrozone mighty. + its half the price.

I believe you might be confusing pixel size with layer height. layer hight depends on the motor resolution and I believe most of the printer say they can achieve 0.01 mm if I´m not mistaked. however 0.02 or 0.03 mm layer height have very good detail. layer height gives you the detail on the Z axis, but the detail on the XY plane is given by the pixel size. so screen size do matter. the smaller the pixel the more detail and less lines you might see on the figure. People normally think its all about resolution, but pixel size is the key. and printer companies normally don´t mention this T_T

By the tone of the review it sounds like these are getting close to that plug and play reality, how accurate is that impression? I'd always rather be painting than dicking about with printer settings, but I still dream of printing myself up a Mordheim or a Marienburg some time. One more thing with these high resolution printers, maybe try to do comparison between 0.05, 0.03 and 0.02 mm layer because, at least to me (4k resin), it doesn't look like much of a difference, but time savings are massive (tried it for myself and didn't see much of a difference between 0.05 and 0.02 if object has organic geometry),

I bought a Saturn S recently but haven't had a chance to try it yet, partly because I've been busy but also partly because Elegoo didn't have one of the resins I ordered in stock so they decided to just not send me any resins (even the one that I ordered that was in stock), and they made no contact with me to let me know about the problem. I only found out after about 2 weeks of waiting because I emailed them to see what was happening, after me giving them a few choice words they eventually apologised and got my resins out to me along with a free 1kg water washable resin in way of an apologie for the inconvienience/hassle, but the thing is as much as I appreciate the free bottle of resin, like you say reliability is the key thing, whether it's the machines or the service I wanna know that I'm not setting myself up for a headache later. fingers crossed mine doesn't go the same way your Elegoos have gone.

Been thinking on trying another printer , I bought one from Anycubic ( Photon 4k ) as a first printer but haven't been able to get it to work at all and have been fighting it for over a couple or so weeks . I regret even looking at the thing and want to throw it in the trash . I have seen a couple Vids saying Phrozen has been easier to use and I still would like to get a printer but now i'm a bit gun shy about the whole thing . All I wanted was something to build model parts and nothing big that my daughter and I can work on over the winters . But again I dont want to go through the mess Im dealing with over this first printer I picked up and don't know what to really get

Just my 2 cents here but if you're having issues with your mono 4k, that you can't seem to fix and printing has been a terrible experience for you. I Suggest you spend more time watching tutorials on how to fix your mono 4k issues and get that to print right in the first place. Buying a phrozen isn't going to magically fix stuff when stuff needs fixing. You need to know how to troubleshoot issues in this hobby or have someone close by that can offer assistance. A Phrozen machine isn't guaranteed to work flawlessly 24/7. I have a mono 4k too, and im buying a mighty 8K because Im realy hooked on printing and want better resolution and a bigger build volume.

@@SCABRFB So after 3 weeks they finally sent me an update , now the printer is finally up and running . In the meantime I bought the Mars Pro and that worked right out of the box like clockwork . And I was studying these way before I ever bought any of them Watched every Tutorial Till I Was Blue In The Face from watching everything that looked reasonable lol . I didn't jump in with calibration test I went full bore and used SirayaTech Clear resin and full plates multiple times and they all turned out perfect from the first . But it was a toss up between all the printers to buy and jumped into the 4k Photon just to try it out due to the price being less than 200. . But now as it is the 4k Is packed away as a backup . I still hate it with a passion cause from a company I would have expected something to work right out of the box for someone to learn and get started . I couldn't even get the thing to read anything off the USB . Put it in the PWMA file but nothing . So disappointing , and frustrating . I still would like to try the Phrozen , is was a tough choice . Then I seen they had a Creality HALOT-ONE Plus also that was 4k . But I have what I have and the final decision was in the Mars 3 Pro the sales add said will work with Lychee . And even before owning a printer I again had already downloaded Chitubox and Lychee to learn before I buy . I found Lychee so much easier for me . But one thing is for sure I was ready to throw in the towel after weeks and just give up on this hobby before I gave it one last try . Now I am trying to figure out what are the resins , what do each type do . What is the best or mixed , what is something a person can get cheaper that will do the same job . And lots of stuff to learn . Now I have my Autistic daughter learning with me . That was the whole reason I even got into the printer so I could get her engaged as she is getting older . Then this way we can build models and craft together as winter sets in .Anyways thanks for the two cents worth . Every bit can help , I live in an area where nobody messes around with this stuff and to find anyone best case is 60 miles away .
