Ingredients for cake 蛋糕的材料 :
4 egg yolks (蛋黄)
1 egg (全蛋)
20g caster sugar (细砂糖)
1/8 tsp salt (盐)
60g corn oil (玉米油)
60ml milk (牛奶)
100g plain flour (面粉)
10g corn flour (玉米淀粉)
2 tbsp cocoa powder (可可粉)
3 tbsp hot water (热水)
4 egg whites (蛋白)
80g caster sugar (细砂糖)
Buttercream (牛油糖霜):
200g butter(牛油)
60g icing sugar (糖粉)
1 tbsp sweetened condensed milk (甜炼奶)
Decoration 装饰:
50g chocolate rice (巧克力米)
5 cherries, cut into half (红樱桃,切半)
Oh my god, when I was little and when I see this cake, I went all crazy! Love this classic cake so much!
These were so good. I made these for a party and they were all gone by the end of the night. I'll make these again in the future!

beautiful n easy delicious looking recipe. If u cut thru the slice showing how soft , moist n goey it's from inside will make it more enjoyable. In any dish if u do this last step of slicing n showing layers would be best.

Tried and love it. Soft and fluffy. But the buttercream, i used Swiss Meringue Buttercream. Its soft, silky and not sweet.
Icing part was easy , liked it as it didn't had any eggs.

Hi, I am in the midst of baking this now but it is taking longer time to bake, any specific reason why? Anyway, as per one comment below, suppose to use corn starch & not corn flour, I am using corn flour - cld it be the contributing factor, yr advice is much appreciated, tq

Oil is better because it stays lovely and moist. Never goes stale. You can use melted butter but it will become tough after storing.

Hi can u explain about the oven bake method? Need to preheat the oven first on 140dgre for 20 minutes, then after that bake for 10 mint in 160dgree, & turn to 180dgre for 10mint? Am i right?

Will this buttercream be stable at room temperature in a humid climate like Malaysia? I'm asking because the ratio of icing sugar to butter is very little and there is condensed milk too... definitely worth a try because I think it's not very sweet.
Put at room temperature can last for 2 hours
