Ingredients :
5 egg yolks (蛋黄)
60g (1/4 cup) corn oil(玉米油)
100ml milk (鲜奶)
65g (1/2 cup) plain flour(普通面粉)
2 tbsp chocolate powder or cocoa powder (巧克力粉或可可粉)
5 egg whites (蛋白)
1tsp lemon juice (柠檬汁)
75g (1/3 cup) caster sugar (细砂糖)
Some grated dark chocolate (适量黑巧克力刨丝)
Some chocolate chips(适量巧克力粒)

150度烤70分钟,底部还是有点潮湿,我继续慢慢加时把蛋糕烤熟。 终于成功了,

I made this after I watch it cause the recipe is kinda easy and OMG😱 , it was so fluffy , soft and literally melt in ur mouth tho😍 , the sweetness really fits for those who is not very interested in sweets👌🏻 , the taste just perfect ❤️😊

I made so many times. And I have never failed... the cake is very soft and moist.
Just made it, it tastes amazing! I used some Nutella diluted with milk as a sauce it made it even better, however, my cake shrunk when I took it out of the oven because it was not hot enough I would suggest 180c

Hi Kathrine, you are amazing, Thank you for your great video showing how to make Chocolate Castella Cake. I love it. but one thing wasn't clear to me when the oil put in the stove, how hot it gets, should let it boil first and then warm up for 1 minute before mixing with the flour.
It shouldn't be boiling, the oil should be about 65 to 70 degree celcius.

會比較有彈力。
但缺點是烤溫不能太高。
要慢火,所以時間拉較長。
避免高溫回縮。

我的也是一样。都沉下去了。
可能是搅拌时消泡了….面糊变水了。不够来支撑巧克力。
把巧克力裹上一层薄薄的粉,就会防止沉淀下去

i wanted to know is it possible to put the cake in electric oven without the water for that long? or the lack of water will ruined the final result? because i don't have access to regular oven (it's a toaster oven) so i'm scared that putting water in it would damage it
i already made couple of cakes via watching you channel (with same amount of time in oven) but i had to take out the cake way sooner because i was scared of burning it.
the cake will rise and as soon as i bring it out it deflate and get smaller.

the water helps to moisten the cake. If there is no water bath technique, the cake turn out to be dry.
Personally, I've never used a toaster oven to make a cake before, but a toaster oven is smaller and its heat is very inconsistent and powerful. Making the cake without the water bath could still work, though your cake might rise too fast and crack on top, shrinks more after it's out of the oven. Due to the cake heating up too fast without the isolation from direct heat with water.
Your cake deflates because your oven is too hot, the egg white protein hasn't set fully and provides the structure for the cake it needs. When the hot air escaped from the air bubbles, there's no structure to support it, hence the collapsing.
I'd suggest you buy an oven if you're really into baking. If you need to make toaster-oven work, get an oven thermometer. Your toaster oven is too hot and yure baking the cake at the wrong temperature. A thermometer helps with that.

Corn oil 1/4 cup is 32g it's not 60g..the measurements u have mentioned is wrong

Hi; I would like to Know if it is important to put in between the molde for the Castella and the large tray with the water another mold or Can I isolate the cake molde from the water bath with foil paper?
The molde large with hot water is very important, this is the base of the cake looks like "Sponge" 😌
Yep you can, I've tried it and it works. You can also use a pan without removable bottom, which is what I use. Gets rid of the fuss with the foil.

When I did this, my chocolate chip toppings went down to the bottom, why this happened?
Then when cake cool off, it went down, not fluffy as it just cook
Maybe be you did not get stiff peaks of the egg whites after whipping it it is really important

Can I use sponge mix to replace flour and corn flour?
Not recommended:/ Sponge mix contains mostly flour, sugar and rising agent. Sugar is already included in this recipe. You can try it if you're in a pinch, cut the sugar back and you'll be fine. Though the cake might shrink a tad more. There's not crn flour in this recipe, it's corn oil.

Any vinegar or cream of tartar. Something acidic helps with stabilizing the egg white proteins.
