  • Here is a first look at the new RDIH Tactical Safety System for Glock thumb safety.
    It lets you add a thumb safety by simply replacing the rear plate on your Glock slide. It also allows you to use the included padlock to secure your gun on safe.

    Or Glock can actually listen to their customers and give them a manual safety instead of riding their high horse. Colt among many things failed to listen to their customers. Don't be like Colt, Glock.

      Glock customers aren't asking for a safety, if they wanted a safety they would just not buy glock and switch to another reputable firearm.

    Thanks for the time you took to put together a good presentation and commentary for this product. Innovation is always a welcome thing, and there is a real market for Glock with safeties. This seems to be a nice idea and it seems to function well. I am a little concerned with how secure it is for concealed-carry, and its position (being a little further back) and overall appearance is a little bit awkward ... but perhaps this will open doors to a more improved and attractive product. Hope that helps, thank you again.

    I got one for my G23 and fits fine and works well. Not too crazy about it being plastic, but time will tell. Also, I found that you can press on the rear extended piece with your thumb to put it in safe mode. All in all, I am satisfied.

  • @harrycallahan9733
    @harrycallahan9733 Před 3 lety

    10:08 You don't really need that key to lock down the extractor depressor plunger to keep the extractor from falling out. The extractor will not fall out the slide (no firing pin block will not hold it in because in the process of taking the slide off, the firing pin block will be depressed by the trigger bar), as long as the tip of that plunger rod is still touching the extractor (can see from the right side of the slide). So keep the muzzle pointed downward is all it takes.
    This safety basically changes the Glock from tool-free field strip (dry fire, take slide off) and reassemble, to tool-required (need something like that key to depress the firing pin sleeve). For a fighting weapon, being able to field strip and put it back together in the field with no tools is essential. With this installed, without a tool to depress firing pin sleeve you can't take down the Glock for maintenance. That is the biggest difference between this one and other manual safety such as Cominolli, Siderlock, and Glock Gadget (now called Striker Control Device, not really a manual safety but for similar purpose).

    I would be very interested in putting one of these on a Glock that's kept bedside. I'm a big proponent of safeties on a beside pistol (mine's an HK USP40, kept chambered, hammer down, safety on) because you could be reaching for it in the dark and still a little loopy from being suddenly awoken.

    • @GunAndShotTV
      @GunAndShotTV  Před 7 lety +7

      That is a decent case for a manual safety. I know I always keep my guns in a holster even in a nightstand drawer for the same reason. It's too easy to fumble your finger in the triggerguard while feeling around for the gun in the dark while startled or groggy.

    • @Fugettaboutit

    • @6mtzhp55
      @6mtzhp55 Před 5 lety +1

      HK USP40, chambered, hammer down, safety on... worked when it needed to, didn't forget to flip the safety off in a sleepy stupor, no matter what those gun shop owners and COD operators tell you. Avoiding a ND in reality is at least as important as being ready quickly, and it proved no disadvantage at all. Many also say our 40s need traded in for 9mms without safeties, because FBI and high speed low drag, and such. Stick to your guns, literally in this case, and lock it up when you are away to deny a criminal the chance to steal and misuse it. You have a reliable 'partner' there.

    Excellent!!! Just what I've been searching for in a firearm. Teaching someone to not accidentally pull the trigger is like teaching them not to accidentally drop or bump it either. Accidents happen, and it takes a split second to deactivate this safety, it can be trained into memory, its a great idea since Glocks are only as safe as gravity is involved. Even heavily trained people have accidents with pulling the trigger.

    The Cominolli safety does not void Glock warranty. All other safeties remain. You can even rack the slide with the safety on. And takedown is not changed either. BS to have to take that one down that way.

    • @GunAndShotTV
      @GunAndShotTV  Před 7 lety

      I don't want to have bad info so I checked the cominolli website.
      The following is directly quoted from their FAQ and implies that Glock won't warranty guns that have been converted. I have heard that Glock will replace a frame for ~$165 if you were to ever need a new frame out of warranty.
      Will installing an MSK void my GLOCK® warranty?
      Please review the GLOCK® warranty on their website.
      GLOCK® is a good company, and like us, they stand
      behind their product. That being said, they are not going to cover
      anything to do with the Cominolli MSK (or any other aftermarket part for
      that matter).

    • @fideauone3416
      @fideauone3416 Před 6 lety +2

      Wow. Several years ago when I first heard of Cominolli they were saying it would not void the warranty. So they have changed now. I had not seen that. Glock's warranty is just for 12 months anyway. Mine was a year old before I installed the Cominolli. I like it and it is less intrusive than hanging that one on the back. It still is a better choice. Take down is the same and no risk of losing parts.So, starting to doubt myself I started to look on line and found literally dozens of sites that said the Cominolli safety did NOT void the Glock warranty. I even heard that from Massad Ayoob, Glock Talk and other reviewers. So I wouldn't worry about it anyway. People change springs, triggers, sights, internal parts, barrels, even frames. Sand finger grooves, backstraps, and trigger guards. Glocks are probably the most customized guns ever made.

They say its to release tension? After the slide plate is off WITHOUT the spring flying around then theres no more tension... just a bit confusing.
