China Eastern A350 Business Class - it's better than the 787!

  • So how does the same airline compare across 2 different aircraft? I recently flew on China Eastern from Australia via Shanghai to Amsterdam - one leg was on the 787 and the second leg was on the A350.
This review covers that second flight and I can honestly say that the A350 offered a much better customer experience. To see the China Eastern 787 review click on this link: • China Eastern 787-9 Bu...
This China Eastern A350 business class flight review also covers Shanghai Airport and compares it to the traditional transit hubs of Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi.
Onboard I cover the China Eastern business class seat, the inflight service and their entertainment system.
    Enjoy!
Route: Shanghai (PVG) to Amsterdam (AMS)
    Length: 5,542 miles, 11:10 hrs

    Aircraft: Airbus A350-900 registration B-304D (Oct 2018)

Woah that wingtip at 9:01! Nice Dennis! Yeh the doors thing is bizarre. Otherwise it's a very good product and my hope is that as these second tier airlines get better and better, it'll bring down the prices of the more established airlines. I was looking at Qantas flight to Heathrow the other day and it was 14K in business! Those are first class prices!

@Sebastian Witheridge They charge what they can get away with I guess. The Aussie market is very lucrative for airlines and they have no excuse not to make big profits.

@@PaulStewartAviation Good point Paul, perhaps in the next few years we will have long range LCC everywhere after the dipping of the toe in the water with trans atlantic flights today. Then ULCC long haul, and people will look through their rose tinted aviators at the good old days with 14k flights where you felt like something at least a bit special. :)
My mum still goes on about flying boats when I mention your excellent channel Paul. Those were the days.
      Back to the cricket.
PS How long have they been doing LCC trans atlantic? I remember Freddie Laker ! A man beyond his time sadly, got screwed by the system.

I don’t know if it’s the same with the rest of China’s airports but they have a temperature sensor as soon as you land. I wonder where they send people who have a fever?😳 Directions for international travelers are printed boldly in color. Also, if you want to shop , you better have Chinese cash, even Starbucks wouldn’t accept the usual Visa or MasterCard. I think they use Alipay or WeChat. I didn’t see an ATM nearby and I wasn’t gonna incur fees to buy a drink I can get back home.... I was skeptical about China Eastern Airlines but it was way more comfortable than United Polaris. I slept so good I missed breakfast on my flight to San Francisco.

Good video! Schiphol is coming home for me. I flew CX ams-hkg frequent and recent in economy. So glad the a350 replaced the 777 on this route because CX is going to 10 abreast in there. Triples...
Hope to see a KLM review one Day! Celebrate there 100 birthday!
Hope you had ‘gezellige dagen’ with friends and Family.

I was wondering why all of the shops were closed in the background, then I saw a departure time on the monitor of 00h40. Another great video.

What was super annoying with China Eastern biz class seat is the TV overhang right above the knees. I couldn't sleep at all as I like to move my legs around and kept bumping into it.

Great video. However, I would avoid PVG if at all possible. Ignoring the fact that you have to go landslide and reclear security for your next flight, you are at the mercy of the Chinese military ATC. If they are running an exercise, you are stuck until they clear.

Shanghai lounge is great, but the food is not cater for westerners.
It.s huge like Asian style fresh Noddles bar with food heavy on pork...
But I think they improve lot , and hopefully keep improving.

Can't go to china without VPN brother! But if you are only on transit, you can probably live without your emails and Facebook? Also, I'd be wary of using work emails on Chinese free WiFi. They do

The reason why 787 has the seat door locked is due to the issue of certification. China Eastern is the first airline using seats with door on 787 which makes it needs extra certification but due to some unknown reasons, the certification hasn't be granted. In order to make the plane can operate revenue service, they have to keep the door out of service which is to lock them. While for the 350 Delta used this product prior to China Eastern and the seat has the extra certification on 350, so the door on 350 can be used.

Nice vid Dennis. Didn’t you just get back from Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Singapore? Since your going to Amsterdam, does this mean there’s a food and fam vid coming? Looking forward to the Dennis vs the new BA business class. Happy trails Dennis!

Had to upload out of sequence so that I wouldn't have 2 China Eastern reviews in a row - also the Indochina business trip video took much longer to edit. Sadly no food video from my quick visit to Amsterdam this time but rest assured I ate like a beast! Really looking forward to flying the new BA business as well. cheers D

    • @psychic_beth
      @psychic_beth Před 5 lety

Much better is Singapore Airlines or JAL, since the middle eastern carriers are state-owned by states that fund terrorism, and I'm pretty sure all the Chinese carriers are state-owned too
