Been in love with Annie for nearly 50 years now....and it gets even stronger watching this performance. And that takes nothing away from the rest of the band, Terry and Jon are really strong here and you can see how much they enjoy playing together.
Simply amazing how freaking GOOD this band was! And how good this video is, especially considering it is over 30 years old. THANK YOU FOR FINDING AND SHARING THIS!!!
Every bit if not better than the studio version. I have loved this band since the day they got FM airplay in the early 70s, making me appreciate madrigals, minor chords and masterful musicianship even more.
Several Renaissance songs add to "worth living", there is NO MATCH to them. But, of course, one must be perceptive to realize it. Like a seasoned art-man can realize all the beauty and "geniousy" in Monalisa's painting....
@Drchainsaw77 On this particular song, I do miss the orchestra. They do quite well here but the Royal Albert Hall version with the RPO behind him crushes this. The middle section of that performance also has a fantastic 'duel' between the saxophonist and Annie.
... and right down the street ELP was playing "Pirates" with a full orchestra ... should have gone to the Renaissance show ... they were incomparable!!!
9:44 Amazing how Annie holds that high D (I think) for a full 12 seconds or more. Let's see any modern, sleazy songstress pull something like that off nowadays.
What's really amazing about this band is the way that they can compensate on stage for the lack of ...oh, I dunno ...a full symphony orchestra?!?! Absolutely stunning. BTW -- anyone know what the hell those lyrics (and title, while I'm at it) are supposed to mean? We've had our theories, of course, but....
Annie Haslam, such an awesome voice. She's in that "voice of an angel" class.
The Camp-Sullivan drive team is horribly underrated!
The whole album Novella still gives me goosebumps with how beautiful every song is.
I dug the 8-track out of a clearance bin back in the 70s just to try it out, and couldn't believe how good it was.
Very Happy to have joined. What a wonderful way to wake up to Renaissance!

I love so much how the bass lines is in the 1st plan on Renaissance... I learn to play bass because their music. Long live Renaissance and Jon Camp.

this is decade of touchiness part 3
Brings back fond memories. Thanks for sharing this. By the way, the album (CD) that this is from is "Novella." One of their best.
I love this song so much
This is just EXCELLENT!
I liked seeing Annie take a big breath before that exhilartaing final note!

Than you for posting. Great to see Terry Sullivan cutting loose on the drums.
Their music is so amazing that Terry's drumming often gets overlooked. So it's great to see in this video how impressive he really was!

Madan Mohan The one anti communist band in 70s hats off to Renaissance
😃ABSOLUTELY BRILLANT, in all respects, all facets (including the deep meaning lyrics). Rare are those who come close

My favorite part of all songs is 1:05
Ooooooo...
7:01 Dana Carvey plays good drums.
