The Ancient Egyptian Afterlife

  • There is no culture in world history that has been subject to more research and speculation than Ancient Egypt. The Egyptian civilization is an old one and acts as a direct link to history. While the antiquarian historians of today can be interested in a wide variety of subjects from Greece to Rome and from the Babylonians to the Achaemenids, the antiquarian historians of those ancient times would be just as interested in Egypt. The Ancient Egyptians were as old to the Romans as the Romans are to us. And as time passes, people die. The Ancient Egyptians knew this just as well as anybody else, but they took precautions to make sure the soul got to the next life in tact. The next life was said to be in the west and an ancient Egyptian who had just died was said to be "going west" and referred to as a "westerner". How the soul got there will be the topic of today's video. Ancient Egypt has always preoccupied the mind of westerners. But as we will soon see, the westerners have always preoccupied the minds of the Egyptians. Join me as I discuss the Egyptian afterlife and the journey to the next world.

Thousands of years later and humans still have no clue what happens after they die. Sadly, it's hard for most people to accept the most logical explanation that nothing happens after you die.

I am Kemetic pagan (the Egyptian afterlife and faith) but I also believe in all afterlives and gods. If one believes they shall not exist afterwards that is what shall wait for them. I respect all but I do not like or agree with those who spit on others. Religion is like a penis. It is great to be proud of having one but do not go waving it around in public and do not shove it down someone's throat when they are not willing. Is someone says this to me I shall walk away without even batting an eye. It will not affect me as it is not what I believe and your life is not mine. So mote it be.

My husband is not going to join me. He is Norse pagan and is destined to eat and drink with his gods but I know he will be able to visit.

Nope, modern studies show they were similar to the Bedouins of Arabia. Probably migrated into Africa from Mesopotamia. They weren't indigenous Africans, only later on did they begin to mix with Ethiopians and other Sub Saharans. Of course there were black pharoahs and dynasties though, because of the Nubians.

It's interesting that the idea of a woman reassembling a body and bringing it back to life can be found in many widely separated traditions: Lemminkainen in the Finnish Kalevala for example. A good video from an informative channel.

I really enjoy your videos, but the ads beforehand are getting stranger and stranger.
Today, it was basically a "Jews for Jesus thing", but it was completely serious.
It was interview snipits with a bunch of people speaking what was probably Hebrew. There were subtitles, but who knows if it was an accurate translation.
They were talking about how they've been lied to for 2000 years, but now they know that Jesus came and suffered for them, that he loves them, that it's a perfect love, etc.
That's all I could take. Sometimes I let an ad play out, in hopes that you'll get a few cents from an apologist like Prager U. But this was just Stepford-level creepy.
Anyways, thanks for providing a forum where I can vent.

Wait I thought Osiris seduced/just had a regular affair w/ Seth's wife also he trapped Osiris in a coffin, not a chest (he only entered a chest after being cut up), and he was cut into 42 pieces, not 14, and the bit about missing his *cough* genitals, seems arbitrary and unlikely. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
