To give you younger viewers an appreciation for $100 back then, in 1973, I could buy a Big Mac, large serving of fries and a large Coke at McDonald’s for just $1.25. So $25 for each Who’s Who contestant wasn’t such a bad deal for about five minutes work.
He moved there before TPiR started, but I guess he was back home in NYC around this time and was able to do some shows. This was still before they settled on Chet Gould as the new announcer.
SERIOUSLY?!! I only clicked on this because Betty White was on it, but from this episode, I know I wouldn't wanna watch it again! This is crap! Nothing at ALL like What's My Line. Among other differences, the panel only gets TWO guesses each for the mystery guest? SERIOUSLY?!
This series was alright, but definitely not like the original. Here they seemed to be more pressed for time, which is probably why they limited the number of guesses. The game was still generally the same, but I guess they had to change a few things in order to sell it into syndication.
That's a fantastic voice disguise by Betty. I don't think I've heard her ever use it anywhere else for anything else.
Betty White is so adorable here.
RIP Betty White. She and Allen are together again.
Rest In Peace, dear Betty White.
I always liked this show - my favorite of the panel formats.
You're joking
RIP Betty White, she was 50 in 1972

Arlene's outfit was such a pretty shade pink.
98 and still at it.
Almost 99 in February 😁
99 today
As of today, December 31, 2021, she's no longer with us. May she RIP. :(
Betty to Arlene: How's your Dachsy? [Dachshund, presumably]
Arlene: Beautiful
Gene to Arlene: How’s your dog?
Very funny!
24:03 Mystery Guest, will you enter and sign in, while we all sing "Happy 98th Birthday", please?

Taped November 23, 1972 (surprisingly two weeks after BUZZR stopped doing their run of episodes of WML)...
When did Johnny move to L.A. to do other shows like the new
Price Is Right", which started that same year?

Is that a live ferret on top of the salesman’s head?
50 year old Betty White
Aired January 15, 1973
Betty White's "voice" sounded like a combination of Bugs Bunny and Lucy
This must be from early 1972 cause Johnny's announcing for Larry, I guess TPIR hadn't debuted yet.
Are you on trading circuit ?
gee which year was this shown? I kinda remember the advertisements
1998
Wasn't Betty on MTM during this time ?
She started on MTM in the 4th season (from fall of 1973.)
Why didn't Charles Daly host the reboot
He was working for the government at Voice of America

Well, they’re adding things like showing this knitting machine. Some of the additions are interesting, but many are not.
THE RULE FOR MYSTERY GUESTS WAS ONLY TWO MINUTES FOR ALL THE QUESTIONS.
