    • @fungo6631
      @fungo6631 Před měsícem

      Eh, these cheapo ones aren't that amazing. Questionable sensitivity and selectivity are the norm. Analog tuned ones tend to be particularly bad and are often plagued by frequency drift. This seems to be mostly the newer ones, it seems like the more vintage ones from the 70s and 80s are less problematic in that regard.
      If you want something amazing, almost any TEF6686 based radio will do the job. And also more expensive radios from brands like Tecsun and Sangean. Admittedly, the battery life on the higher end ones can be somewhat questionable compared to the crappier ones, but you do get better filtering on bands like shortwave and more stable tuning.

    I'm not even an adult yet and I actually had a leapfrog. Although I didn't play it as much as another educational handheld I had, the V-Smile Pocket. Maybe because I had something like 13 games for the vsmile and only 2 games for the leapfrog, aside from a 3rd game and drawing program preinstalled on the leapfrog. Although I also had other Leapfrog products, including this interesting book think, where you put a booklet and matching cartridge inside and tapped on different parts of the page with a pen to interact with it. I also had this system called the Clickstart, which although was marketed as a PC for little kids with its keyboard, definitely fits the criteria for a game console, even if it was educational. Fun fact: The clickstart was also the closest I've ever come to a full console library, as I owned 8 of the system's 13 games. Although we gave it away a few years ago.

    I never knew CDs and DVDs are actually considered extinct. I love them and I have a whole CD collection in my house. I would always buy music albums on CD. Yes, streaming exists now but I think having a physical copy of it is much more satisfying.
    This applies to DVDs as well. I don’t use DVD much but I also think it’s much more satisfying to have a physical copy of my favourite movie.
    Most of my friends agrees with me so I never knew about it being considered outdated.

    Tbh CD/DVDs, Leapfrogs, The Gameboy-3DS line and FlipPhones are the Most Fascinating to Me
    I love how leapfrogs has a homebrew scene nowadays, just like the Gameboy - 3Ds Line
    And i love how the 3DS has DS, GBA, GBC and GB Hardware, All crammed into It
    Makes me Wonder, if it could be modded to use GBA, DS and 3DS Hardware all the Same Time
    Some Flip Phones used Non Android OSes, and Instead used stuff based on Java, Extremely Underpowered, but Fascinating

    With DVDs and CDs I put all of that media on players or my tablet or cards at SD cards so I can wash them elsewhere but you still need the physical media just in case your copy gets ruined. If you have a streaming service, you might see a movie you like, but it may go away or it will go away, so that’s why you keep the physical media and you can keep making copies of all your media that’s music and video, they won’t go away for a while

      Plus for another one they were generally known as "records". Or more casually referred to as albums, singles, 33's and 45's - everyone just knew that was referring to a record.
      Likewise "record store" or variants there of.
      And the equipment is a "record player" to most, or a "turntable" for the more technically inclined.

    I collect CDs and can understand how they may be considered obsolete. They first came out in 1982 and there are much more compact ways to store music now, such as micro SD cards. In fact, I have FLAC rips of my whole collection on a single 512 GB card and mostly just use the CDs as a phsical representation and backup of it. However, in terms of audio quality, CDs still hold up perfectly, as they use lossless 16 bit 44.1 kHz audio. Most music streaming uses either that or a lossy version of it.
