Cami Layé Okún is a selector/DJ from Cuba inspired by the merged sounds of Africa and Latin America. Cami’s vinyl sets go beyond this as she collects music from around the world, searching stories through music with similar organic roots. Engaging audiences with Cuban disco. Afro-Caribbean rarities, and tropical Amazonian funky grooves. She has shared her collection with dance floors in Brazil, Mexico, Panama, Finland, Germany, France, Switzerland, the UK, Greece, Italy, Netherlands and Belgium. Currently based in Havana, she is so far the only local that produces and promotes events in 100% vinyl format during the last year Cami hosts her own monthly show “Insolar” on London NTS Radio where she curates sunny music from different parts of the world.

I was walking in old Havana... heard some funky, smooth afro jazz. I peek my head in the door, and seen two older gentlemen grooving. They welcomed me in. I was amazed at all the records he had.... he was like nah, lets go upstairs. Literally thousands of records. We listened together for hours!

I have friends like this, as we’ve all been into music since first hearing from a young age, for me, my Mum having the radio on all the time from the 60s onwards.
I identified some songs, but two of them couldn't be, despite applying quintuple redundancy (AHA, Shazam, SoundHound, Google and Deezer's SongCatcher). Luckily the two missing ones were identifed by SpanishGrooves, to whom I thank for completing the set.

Thia has to be one of the ten best MAJ sets in the history of the channel. Kudos for perfect selections, order and mixing.
My speaker finally bit the dust a few weeks ago so I could only hear MAJ on my cell speaker, which is an injustice to anything on this channel. Yesterday I bought a new Bluetooth speaker and decided to try it out while stuck in an hour plus traffic jam in Nicaragua during Purísima to go approximately 1 kilometer. Played the first 30 minutes of this before traffic started to move again and a couple people were standing next to their cars jamming to El Pueblo Manda. The music was so good that I forgot how long I had been sitting in traffic. I am listening to this set a third time as I type this.
