It’s ridiculous how overwatch wants to charge $32 for reskins of just widow and Ana meanwhile Fortnite has a Metallica bundle, (one of the most influential groups in rock metal music), that includes all 4 artists with multiple variations ,a backpack, a song, glider, emote, contrail, weapon skin and Lego versions of everyone for $31.
And you get more v bucks in that game than what you pay.
Just don't buy them? When did cosmetics become the appeal of a game?
@@lukasg4807 it's not that it became the appeal of the game, but rather the fact that all resources seemingly get put into skin making rather than game making, so at least if the skins were good and affordable, people would be more likely to pay for the skins and thus support a higher budget for actual game content that isn't cosmetic only.
Or seen in another light, when the game is mediocre af, the only thing left to care about is cosmetics.
Fortnite also makes money off waaaaay more collabs and has way more options. You have the festival, Lego, and BR.

FOR FREE, which then possibly incentivizes players to want to spend real money to support the game simply because of how friendly and accessible the store/ micro transactions are. You saying “just dont buy them” highlights how blind youre blind to the bigger picture of things and the longevity of the game.

It kinda feels like they bought it, stopped some BS going on (like bobby and PvE) and let them go off with a sorta hands-free approach. I'm guessing they bought it in plans to push Overwatch hard one day if it turns out to be one of their more favorable series. I'm thinkin they buy 15 game studios, that are semi-big, and in 3 years, one of those wins out, meaning Microsoft always wins out. Kind of a sad reality, but I guess I could be way off, I don't really research this stuff. Blizz jus never takes anything back ever, including brig, including 5v5, including roadhog's rework, they just refuse to acknowledge mistakes in their balancing ever.

Corporations need to shed and know how to absorb and shed off excess when necessary (like selling a subsidiary or mass layoffs). If a corporation can't do this then it can't survive the long run (contrary to the public opinion of the masses as the data shows what works).

I think this SHOULD be the end of the world. This ‘PvE sequel’ has no PvE nor sequel. This game is a fucking mistake, of course it wasn’t at Xbox live or whatever, imagine your new season having a fucking recolour at level 80! Everyone would just boo them off.
The biggest thing ive hated in ow so far is how ignored seasonal themes are just ignored, the battlepass is made up of 90% irrelevant skins and other cosmetics and every single skin that is relevant to the theme is in the shop for maybe a couple of weeks and then its back to basic overwatch that has a funny name for that season
It's crazy how no one talks about this, if I am interested in the power rangers theme I won't be getting even half the season's theme content, I'll, AGAIN, lose an Ana skin that I was super interested in, and for what? Lifeguard junkrat? Seriously? Make a theme for the season, stick with it in the battlepass, and let the life guard enjoyers spend their money on the shop. But no, you gotta spread the content thought the entire game, the deluxe BP, the Premium BP, the shop, because you gotta milk your fanbase

It will never end to frustrate me how there is TWO reskined skins in the literal battlepass meanwhile the ana,cass,hog, and zen (maybe others) all have theme related skins not in the battlepass. It has honestly become one of the smaller things about ow2 that has grown into a big nuisance, I fucking love power rangers, tokusatsu, and all things of that nature, so when i buy a battle pass with that theme i want that theme, not summer mauga or junkrat (although the skins are alright, they simply do not belong in the bp) Excuse the rant but like that has seriously become an annoyance of mine from overwatch. All i want is the entire theme of the szn to be focused on, i want the gamemodes to stay for the season and the related skins to be in the bp, anything other than that can still happen, just dont replace what the season is about.

I have a few friends who haven't played overwatch in a while and when they came back they both said it sucks now , whether it be due to the hanzo nerfs or all the extra health.
I'm also getting annoyed by the hanzo nerfs to the point that I'm having more fun playing quick play, just so I can spawn camp people as sombra. Like yesterday I had a game where I spawned camped a kirikio 13 times and then at the end of the match, someone typed in chat flaming her for not healing lol.
I can only play QP because I refuse to swap from the character I want to play. I also don't want to be flamed for it.

The funny thing with the whole Porsche collab is, that it was actually due to multiple people at Porsche being into Overwatch, that it became a talking point in the first place. It wasn't really to say "oh this is a perfect fit to branch our brands into", rather just a "hey we like Overwatch, hey we like Porsche, lets make a collab why not?".
Being from the car industry myself and knowing multiple people in various companies that are playing/are into Overwatch, it's kinda funny. I know exactly what the basis of this thing was, but everyone who don't realize and just see it from the outside will think it's completely off brand haha. I mean, it kinda is. But it's seriously not that deep. The brands don't care that much, it's just people working at Porsche and Blizz who shared mutual interests and wanted some fun collab cus they could (and they could justify it to higher-ups on both ends which is quite rare). Porsche is no stranger to doing many off-brand collabls in the past so it's really not that out of the ordinary for those with a bit of inside info :)

@@GaaraFPS. They made over a billion dollars off of loot boxes/in-game purchases by 2019. The real problem was that Blizzard stopped adding substantial new content and support for the game, leading to a drop in player engagement and interest.

After a long period of playing pubs, it was really in a bad state due to the format, it's not just playing as a 1 tank suck, its also playing with a 1 tank also suck.
I remember playing with a roadhog pre rework, that just refuses to switch, while running into a pharah, reaper and a Orisa. It was genuinely painful.

Overwatch has something unique: the greatest number of smurfs and cheaters in a competitive game and it still exists. Most games die with those.
I started getting so much anxiety loading into the crap new game modes, specifically Flashpoint. I just stopped loading in at all. That and catering to only hit scan DPS in OW2.
And support players.. the majority of their player base.
@@GaaraFPS I don't know how they have catered to support players. literally every patch there are more and more nerfs, and it just becomes more exhausting to play support. I loathe playing the game now because of it.

They have every get out of jail free card, as much damage as most dps, literally determine the whole flow of the game, it’s almost like blizzard understands that most casuals play the “easiest role” that has the most complexity behind it, if you’re struggling after balancing maybe this game isn’t for you. And the reason why they need so many nerfs is to compensate for all of these janky changes with 5v5.
We wouldn’t be in such a mess if they didn’t try to sell us on this false ideal of us playing a new game to justify a new monetization system. Just tell me you don’t have critical thinking or care about the game.
And the one Kiriko nerf that makes zero sense is so they can sell this new rein mythic skin. You have to understand you playing an algorithm where they balance around what they want to sell like any other game.
@@GaaraFPS Some have get out of jail free cards, others do not. Thats why characters like Bap, Kiri, and Moira have higher pick rates. I love playing Ana, Mercy, and Kiri, and occasionally Zen, but with the DPS passive nerfing your healing to the point where you can't feasibly support your team without groaning because they keep peeking is just plain not fun. And then theres the whole thing of people diving supports in the back-line. it feels like every patch we have less and less tools to be able to deal with this stuff. normally I can scare off a flanker, but its just irritating to see people always complain about specific support characters without understanding the reason as to why people play them so much. I would argue that supports are currently the weakest they have ever been, which is just a shame. I enjoyed being the shot-caller for my friends. You are right that in its current state, Overwatch 2 probably isn't for me, as much as I would like it to be but I wouldn't say its because of "balancing" since that is literally impossible in a game like this. Its after a number of repeated questionable game design/philosophy changes :P You put in so much work as a support, and have very little to show for it. Not long ago I had a game with a play that had 2 kills, and 4 life saves that lost out on a PoTG to someone getting a few unimpressive final blows after spraying a choke. I'd argue that the whole game has turned into a facepalm if things like that happen.

I feel like the point of "Microsoft doesn't care about Overwatch" isn't fully accurate. The point raised about the fact that nothing was shown related to OW during the showcase doesn't define their "care" towards the IP. You could then turn around and say the same for Halo, forza, contraband, everwild, etc. All games that were previously announced or have a live service componant that is still being updated but did not show anything at the showcase. What did overwatch have to show? The season 11 trailer? Even if I personally was part of the team that determines what goes in the show and not, that isn't enough content to show. ESO 10 year? Yes, because DLC is free for a time and a new one is coming out. It's all strategy for the near future. Doesn't mean OW is dead to xbox.
Yeah that’s a good point and I think Microsoft is letting the developers at overwatch aka the current team work on the game and it’s up to developers to fix their game not the funding from Microsoft and if they don’t listen to community feedback the game will just die and it’s a better business decision to use icon and better ips than overwatch 2 since hasnt been doing that well
English isn't my first language so I may not title or present my points the best way I can, secondly, I don't think you understand the implications of what /is/ happening to OW to the point that they do not get a showcase, even these small things /should/ be shown, excluding it is basically proving my point, do you understand how embarrassing it can be to be the only 'big' game from blizzard that doesn't get any form of a showcase?
For what its worth, I think what they did in S11 100% deserved a little bit of a showcase to hype it up, at least a teaser for the new map and the role upgrades before cutting off entirely to generate some form of an interest, thats what all these big media events are for, ''publicity and attention'', every game that was live service was basically showing just that, their live service updates, OW should be given a chance to show theirs too but none of OW's updates are grandoise enough that even Microsoft feels embarassed showcasing it. That's what I took away from all this.
I don't know if Halo, Forza, contraband and everwild as games but OW's new season was literally right around the corner, a 10-30 second video showcasing something for hype realy isn't that difficult and doesn't take up "TV time".
I never meant it directly that "OW is dead" to microsoft but there has been 0 implementation of gamepass benefits, 0 cross over skins with them till now, 0 attempts to show any form of connection to Microsoft as a brand.
Now. Do we wanna open up the other side and Discuss how much love and adoration Microsoft showcased Valorant? Not just from gamepass benefits but the entire showcase it got at their event? If Val can get all that, why not the bare minimum for OW?

First off, thank you for making the video you did! It's difficult to put your opinion out there especially when people can be quite dishonest with their responses. So respect from me.
Additionally I apologize if I percieved your point incorrectly.
I can understand the argument of they could have hyped up season 11 and although I wish there was something related to OW at the event, I understand why there wasn't. Mainly because Blizzard already announced participation at Gamescom in germany later this year (august) which should be right before season 12. It wouldn't be foolish of me to assume they will reveal space ranger at the event there. I think microsoft recognizes that the number one aspect that drives people to Overwatch is new heroes. That being said, that wasn't season 11.
In response to you mentioning valorant and lack of OW gamepass benefits:
Overwatch had and continued to have the hero starter pack for game pass members. (Prior to them making all heroes free for everyone instantly). Meaning if you were new, you didnt have to unlock all of the ow2 hereos if you had gamepass. I think we will see this evolve over time. Diablo is the only blizzard title on gamepass itself at the moment. No other title from activision is in gamepass post merger yet. From my understanding, due to how difficult it was to get the merger approved, they have to be careful about where and when the put things on gamepass.
Regarding valorant. That one is easy. The game is already free to play. You have to earn or buy the operators. With gamepass you don't. Similar to how the hero starter pack for ow2 was in gamepass before.
In terms of crossovers, I assume you mean collab skins with microsoft properties (like the upcoming transformers or previous one punch man). My partner is in the game dev world and im not going to pretend that their knowledge is the "standard" for the industry, but from what they told me is collab events cook for 2 years+ in advance from the deal closing to the actual event. I wouldn't be surprised if crossovers start happening next year.
After saying all of this. I agree with you that I wish there was the S11 trailer at the showcase. Having more eyes on it can be a good thing. But I understand where overwatch's position is in the industry and to the general consumer and unless a hero was revealed, I can't see how the audience as a whole would have percieved the trailer positively. Idk.

This doesn’t make any sense. Microsoft quite literally said they were going to let the Overwatch devs have full control. Microsoft has no part in this, it was basically a “we’ll get you guys out of the shitter but then you’re on your own”. And they were quite public about that as well.
It's like the cod community with you people. It's only been half a year since koddick left and yall expected the game to magically be the best. The game launched asa failure with no story and a failed PvE. As an animator myself, the amount of time needed to make a change or to make something is a lot!! Microsoft just laid off needed people for the overwatch team. It's absolutely bizarre how the community does not notice the changes. The devs are now talking directly to us, the devs are now releasing more content than a dead overwatch 1 2020 era, the amount of collabs are flourishing (one punch man, Porsche, cowboy bepop and now transformers!), the team is now working on mythic weapons and accessible mythic skins that were missed to players, jade weapons (not that good looking but it shows that they did something new), free heroes, more opportunities to receive exclusion skins (pink mercy). The game is changing for the better, but it's highly unrealistic for a change so soon. It takes time for games to change. Look at fallout 76, a disastrous game at launch but is now at its all time peek and recieved a show. Content flown in every way with on going expansions. It's the same as ow2, the games original intention was to make as much money as possible. It still is! But now with consumer benefits. 76 took years to get where it's at now, give it time. These are people who didn't know what to do with a leader saying "don't care!! More money!" To now- "more subscribers to game pass!!" The leash is now gone, give them another year or so for a insight of a change, realistically it takes a number of years to fix a game this bad.
As soon as they revealed Valorant was going to be on console, I looked at my PS5 Storage, then I looked at OW2... i mean I love playing Zen but I wont fight for OW2.

I agree with Sam about in order for something to grow, it needs to fail and start again.
The problem here is that overwatch already failed hard once and I don’t think it can afford to do it again. It would never hit its peak again or maybe not even half of it.
I think one major reason why overwatch was so popular back then was because of its trailers and cinematics. People were so interested in the world and we wanted to play it. Now we have no world building because pve is dead.
The most hype overwatch 2 ever got after release was probably during the ramattra gameplay trailer. For the most part everyone enjoyed it which is further proof that trailers and cinematics are a big factor to overwatch’s popularity.

The community’s standards need to be higher for this game. It should be nothing but elite in its lane, and it’s not toxic to hold it to that standard
In my eyes, the one thing that Overwatch offered that was different than the rest of the gaming industry were the characters and the stories behind them.
The Archives events were the biggest hype of the year. PvE was the next step, to further enhance the story and world of Overwatch, and they dropped the ball in the hardest way possible. No campaign, and the PvE was 15 minutes for 15 dollars. Actual scam.
If overwatchs next hero is not some form of gay, ill hold onto hope.
The pricing was 90% of the problem for me with OW. Splatoon 3 was basically my replacement for OW2, and they don't try to monetize everything after you pay the box price. All the victory poses are earned via catalogs (basically a battlepass that you don't see until you earn something) and gachas that you play with in-game currency (that you cannot buy). All the weapon loadouts (equivalent of characters in OW) are unlocked by getting enough wins with weapons that you've already unlocked. All outfits (skins) are unlocked with either in-game currency, beating singleplayer content, or for buying an Amiibo. Most of the new outfit pieces are only accessible with in-game currency, so playing matches actually feels rewarding.
The only way to pay extra for the game is the DLC story expansion and Amiibos. Even though I only bought 1 battlepass for OW2 (when they finally put currency in them), I bought Splatoon 3 and 2 Amiibos within like one month because everything seemed fairly priced. The stuff you EARN with gameplay feels so satisfying that I WANTED to buy the extra stuff to support the game more. I make 6 figures now, so I have the cash to burn. I just can't bring myself to pay for stuff that's blatantly overpriced.

OW2 is like that one child in a newly joined family that both parents with kids want to pretend doesn’t exist.
Please do make a video listing everything the heroes have lost. It would honestly be a good way to see the big picture by actually putting every loss (and perhaps gain) on the table.
Cosmetic prices should be (in order to actually SELL well):
Mythic 10 Bucks.
Legendary/EPIC/RARE/common/any other fancy name they give them (essentially anything bellow what was the first battlepass genji skin): under 3 dollars AND run sales for %off up t 50%.
Weapon charms, weapon inspects, highlight intros, voice lines (essentially everything except skins): 1 buck.
And from time to time, make a BIG collab and sell skins for 12 bucks if they are mythic level and after the FIRST season that they are in, slash prices to 10 bucks or even lower. (5 bucks for the other quality skins).
WoW horse made more money than Starcraft 2.
Starcraft 2 sold 8.5 million copies in its first week (I know, I saw the active user numbers when playing) That was a 60 dollar game.
That means the horse in wow (1 mount) made twice as much money as overwatch 2 skins in whatever time they tracked the 225 million profit (assuming it is accurate).
That would suggest that the shop items are selling HORRIBLY BAD.
Them bringing back Cass flashbang and showing ow1 classic abilities feels like they should had never changed the game 😪

OW1 was a great, fun game and for some reason Blizz took it to a back-alley, stabbed it 27 times and left it for dead. And instead of burying it, they used necromancy to bring it back as a zombie, put a little makeup on it to hide the fact some bits of its face are falling off and they just called it a day.
I just came back and I'm already done with it again. Skin prices are ridiculous. I can't get them in loot boxes anymore. Playing tank just feels awful. Players are increasingly mentally challenged. No support from the dev team. Like.. 6v6 was better too. Idk man.
I would think they would have shown the new season trailer and the Pink Mercy announcement off during the event, instead of holding the announcements for them by just a few days.
Marvel Rivals is gonna be the nail in the coffin for OW2.

From what the OW community has experienced and from secondhand accounts of Diablo 4 and Retail WoW, it’s clear to see that Blizzard’s skill at PvE design has degraded so drastically over the past decade. They’ve been serving everyone slop and we ate it for too long. Now they got rid of their cook books and gourmet equipment and they’re stuck with a slop machine. And about the weapon inspects, I bet the reason they haven’t been added is because Team 4 hasn’t figured out how to code them into the game. It’s essentially an emote from the first person POV, and we don’t have any of those. Probably because they couldn’t figure out how to do it.

oh yeah i almost forgot they advertized weapon inspections ingame. I would bet you 100 Bucks that if blizzard would make the game moddable you would have that feature after the first three months, albeit a bit more scuffed. People need some time to figure out the workshop for mods and how indepth they can go, so that would take up half of those 3 months.
Blizzard, give me a week as Overwatch 2's lead director, and I'll lay out the best game plan and make some of the best changes to the game that we've ever seen. JUST. ONE. WEEK.
weapon inspects are the biggest waste of dev time. Sure for the new mythic weapons it could be cool, but they’re barely making weapon skins. It’s a huge waste.
7:12 yes valorant was popular as a PC only game, honestly I’ve been playing the beta for valorant on console, and while it’s not my first time playing valorant, it’s still such a fun game and honestly much more compelling than OW. I’ve been on Val these last few days way more than OW or Siege and loving it because the balance is obvious as well as fun to learn (although tbf, being new to an FPS, be it Val, Siege or OW, it’s fun to go through the process of learning hero shooters)

Major changes for Overwatch 2 were intentional towards killing the project. Every season change following the release were a supplement to that goal. This was Activision Blizzard's response to Jeff leaving the project.

To be real, it would remarkable if the Overwatch dev team could have recovered from the layoffs to make anything of substance. Give it a year or two, for restructuring to complete and devs to dare to dream again.
What's crazy to me is the reason the game is dying and has been struggling for so long is purely because of the balance team. Yes, not getting the PvE sucked. Yes, not getting updates for years during OW1 hurt it as well. The thing is though the game was successful before PvE was even an idea in our heads and although we weren't getting updates for a while we are now and have been for almost 2 years. I think it's time to realize it's the balance of the game that's the true problem and the base gameplay just isn't fun anymore. Half the roster feels cheesy as hell and don't get me started on how all the immortalities, cleanses, and movement creep in the game has turned it away from getting that sick POTG to seeing how many of those POTG's can we deny the enemy team. The balance team has continued to underdeliver and be the bane of this game. All of this and we still haven't gotten to the fact that this games competitive rewards are awful. If you've hit every rank you've desired there's legit no reason to play competitive other than for the fun of the game, but you can't do that either because the game state just simply isn't fun. I've hit GM1 in both DPS and Support, as well as GM2 in Tank. I'm not a massive fan of quickplay because of the unbalanced and random games you can get, but the only reason to play competitive and try would be for Jade weapons... They really need to take a page out of Apex Legend's book or something and add seasonal themed ranked weapon charms, player icons, and playercard. It's just crazy to me how ranked and the competitive state that made this game was just abandoned. If it were any other company the balance team would've lost their job forever ago. Geoff Goodman lost his job but it took about 5 years of destroying the game for it to happen. Now with people like Josh Noh and Alec Dawson they're allowed to make the SAME mistakes as Geoff Goodman and make character like Mauga (not worse than brig but damn near) and destroy the balance of the game by rewarding low-skill heroes and giving them high-value in return. All of these things combined has destroyed the passion to play and improve for many people. Why grind ranked when there's little to no rewards? Why grind a high-skill cap hero when I can play someone much easier in 95% of the same situations and still get the same value. IDK, one thing I do know however is I'm giving Blizzard a year since the Microsoft merger to figure things out. Cause to be fair to Microsoft and the devs if they were going to help improve the game and Activision was really holding them back then mergers like that take time before you actually start to see the change since a lot of what you see current in live service games was worked on months or sometimes years before hand. That being said though if I don't see some major improvements and a bright future going forward by Janurary 2025 then I think my 8 year long OW journey will be coming to a close.
There is a very simple reason why Blizzard will not say anything or change the 5v5 format. Because without 5v5, They have nothing left to justify the '2' anymore. If they go back to 6v6, then we are back to a worse version of OW1.

They had a chance to fix the kill thresholds for heroes but they didn't. For instance, genjis dash right click melee combo and Ashes Ads headshot into a hip fire body shot. It just feels bad with the higher hp nonsense. Feels like we are playing Paladins
I've been playing ow for the past 8 years (since season 3) and even with the launch of ow 2 I was still having fun..
But now I'm in a state where I can only have fun with this game If I'm playing it while getting drunk on the weekends.. (today is the day btw! I'm ready to be a manace in the arcade and QP >:D)

Overwatch 2 sucks because of no lootboxes, 6v6 is gone, ingame shop = greedy af offers + they are trying to shovel woke stuff down players throats. Personally I've never had anything against diversity, peoples sexualities etc. but when game starts to push it on your face and starts to heavily revolve around this topic it becomes very annoying. Playing games shouldn't be about politics or forcing people to delve into gender identity stuff. Gamers play games mostly to get relaxed , have fun time and drop real life difficulties aside. I can totally understand why Microsoft doesn't give a damn about it.

It's always been this way. They aren't forcing it down peoples throats. It makes no sense to complain about them focusing on those topics during pride month, in their game with multiple LGBT characters, where the main focus of the game is where everyone can play and find a hero to connect with no matter who they are. That's one of MAIN promises of the game and has been since launch (which ironically they're failing to deliver on now with the 5v5 format LMAO). They didn't show Overwatch because the game sucks. Not because of diversity.

If Marvel Rivals is going to be half as good as I saw it on yt I think my time with ov is coming to end very fast. I love this game since i first play back in 2016 and now after all this game went through I just feel sad. I still play this game but only for that love from the time it was good, but day by day this love fading and soon or later the day come when I just play this game one last time. And this is just heartbreaking for me that the only multiplayer game i fell in love that much is a shadow of former self and it's nothing on the horizon to fix that.
There could be a lot of reasons why the trailer for season 11 wasn’t shown during the Xbox showcase. I mean they waited longer than previous seasons to show it. They could have still been finalizing all the details of the season. I think there were probably things behind the scenes that we aren’t aware of. I’m not trying to make excuses. But I think it’s important to try and remain objective rather than being fatalistic about these things.
