    At 2:07 that little component in the wood cabinet marked sold is a very early 8 track player from the late 60s that can play 8 tracks and 4 track tapes, I have one with the original speakers and manual, it’s a really cool piece however I need to get a new belt for mine.

    As a vintage audio collector/reseller to fund my addiction, it's crazy how many sellers are pricing the vintage items so high. Its as if they look at the highest ebay asking prices and put a price tag on it. I would much rather my items find good homes to be used again and appreciated than to sit on shelves going to waste. Maybe all this high markup and ridiculous resale prices will die out at some point.

    Those white speakers weigh 4.6 lbs each. Minimus clones Radio Shack. Sound fantastic. Right at the start of the vid.

      I wish I could have purchased everything, but there's no room and not enough money. Lol. The Trinidadian record was really neat. The photos were great.

    I saw a typewriter and it made me think about when I took typing classes in high school. I was born in 1961, I think I should take a trip through Flea Markets or thrift stores, I wonder if we have any here in South Florida though. 🤔

    Can you alter pre-recorded 8 tracks to record over them, like the notch on cassettes?

      8 tracks don't have any kind of write protection. If you have an 8 track recorder, you can record over a prerecorded 8 track by just pressing record.

    Since you're messing around with eight-track recording, you can do the same with that panasonic. HiFi video recorders have a great frequency response 20-20K... and the tapes are easier to find than blank 8 tracks..

    Great things you saw there! I've been to some thrift stores in the US but most of them just had real junk and no interesting stuff. Those prices for some items though... Is anyone paying these? It's like they looked at Ebay and took the asking prices of the items that never sell because of their rediculous prices.

      I have noticed that most of the overpriced items do not sell. I tend to look for booths or vendors who are losing their lease, the prices tend to be a bit more reasonable when they're desperate to sell.

    Oh wow. I've got one of those blue RCA Porta phonos. Can't find much about it. How much were they asking?

    • @VintageElectronicsChannel
      @VintageElectronicsChannel  Před 2 měsíci

      I believe it was somewhere around $40. It's been a while since I shot that footage, so I can't remember exactly.

    What is your thought on a Panasonic 608 cassette deck? I found one for $10

    Couldn't you just record over those new 8-track tapes? I don't know much about 8-track tapes, but wouldn't that work?

    Blank 8 tracks ? Lol theres sealed ones and you passed? You always choose the wrong items...lol

      There are certain brands of blanks I know what to expect with: higher quality tape, metal pressure pad springs, etc. With prerecorded ones, it's a craps shoot, you don't know what's inside.
