I'm about to try mine. Dealer said it was frozen about a year ago. But I think they lied since they said the axles had to come out as well. I tow constantly and hook/unhook on hills and it's a pain trying to hook up with no e brake
Definitely dont hit your rotors on the part where the pad contacts the rotor, just hit between the lug nuts. Unless of course youre replacing the rotors then it doesnt matter.
Did you know you can do this without even taking the wheels off. There is a service whole on the back side of the drum. And you pop it out and just turn the teeth with a flathead.
If it’s rust holding it on, heating and beating it will always work. If the parking break shoes hang on to the rotor, first back the adjuster all the way off from the backside, then the shoes should clear the rusty lip inside the rotor. Or grind the heads off of the two brake shoe retaining pins on the backside of the backing plate, or, swing a big hammer at it until the rotor is in pieces. 👊

Yeah. It's hard to get to sometimes though. This way is more time consuming but easier for me.
Took the words out of my mouth
Awesome thnx for the info. I gotta do mine 💪
Definitely need that axle seal.
Fo sho!
So, what do you do if your parking brake is not in good shape and the rotor doesn't want to come off?
Sometimes it takes a good bit of persuasion for a big hammer. Especially if you live up North.
Swing that hammer like a man.

How do I adjust the parking brake cable on a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500? There are 0 Videos on here and I can’t pass inspection without it! 😢
I'm not familiar with that year. Sorry.
Turn one section while holding the other section.
Ive got a 98 and a 99 ram, its the same steps. Use the brake adjustment access window for easy access without removing everything
What size wheel and tires? Looks great
