Thank you , Cole. Appreciate you and the CJC crew.
Great video in the first 5/minutes you covered more than what most of the other videos online cover. I’ve been chasing the play in my front end for about a year and this pretty much summed up one year of learning.
Great video to point out basic check points and clear illustrations. I have lots of experience with death wobble, the early (79) live axle ford's had it bad if you did any leveling, because leveling changed caster, and the way we fixed it on them and newer trucks, was to adjust the track arm height to get back caster.
Thanks fellas for this...
Thank you. Great video. Thank you.
Just ordered the EMF bushing! Been slacking on it...hope it helps a little bit!
Thank you so much! Just ordered Carl suspension from your website! Will definitely buy more parts from you.
EMF intermediate shaft bushing can be used on early model 2019 5th gen ram trucks as I have them on my 19 3500 dually with 200,000km and they made a massive improvement.
How would I go about removing emf bushings on my 2020 ram 2500?
Hey Cole, I have a question regarding turning my 2014 ram in 2 Wheel Drive. The steering wheel shutters back to the straight position when coming out of a tight turn.
A mechanic told me it was the steering box. Even after replacing the steering box, it still acts the same way. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Helpful video! But what about adjusting the steering box for play? As in loosening the 21mm bolt and adjusting the screw on top of the box?
To be perfectly honest, if there's play, it's time to replace the box. While we wish tightening the screw fixed the box, it doesn't address everything inside that's worn.
My 2011 Ram 3500 mega cab single rear wheel diesel just at 98,000 miles developed a severe front end wobble. Is this assessment essential the same for and applicable to a 2011 model year??
👌
So front shocks being worn will not cause loose front end feeling or death wobble ?
No, worn front shocks would result in a bouncing or boat like front end feeling, but usually not death wobble. That said, the test outlined in this video will tell you exactly what's causing that on your particular truck.
If you already have a Carli upper and lower steering stabilizers do you need any extra or different clamps? Truck is a 2015 3500
It depends on when your steering was made. Apex updated their drag link, and it will now work with a Carli 2019+ high mount. That said, it will not work with the older drag link. If you send us a photo, we can ID it for you.
@@CJCOffRoad I haven’t bought the apex kit yet but am wondering if it will work with the current 2015 high and low mount set up currently with Carli stabilizers.
You'll need the 19+ High mount since the shock length and clamp diameter are different. Sadly that was the only way we could make it work.
What is normal for a steering box. Wish you showed as all have some movement but how much is too much? Also why didn’t you show how to tighten the gear mesh on steering box
There should be direct movement from the input and shaft and output shaft. The one shown has too much play and is out of spec. As for "tightening" the box via adjustment, that's kinda a myth. If there's play, the box is worn and needs to be re-built/replaced.
So mine has issues going through the turns…it’s like the steering wheel is pulsing or has some kind of electronic steering correction that wants to pull you back straight. Anyone have any ideas because it really aggravating. It’s almost like someone is pulling the steering wheel the other way in a game of tug o war lol
To us that sounds like a worn track bar as the number one culprit, or worn steering linkage. If you follow the method shown though, you’ll be able to see exactly what has play.
Do you happen to know the wheel setup on this truck?
The thumbnail truck on a set of +6 offset 17x8.5 Innov8 G500 wheels with 37/13.5/17 Toyo MT tires. Here's a link to the wheels: www.cjcoffroad.com/collections/innov8-racing/products/innov8-racing-g500-forged-wheel-17-fix-price
Never heard of 5th gens having death wobble. Play and wander (because of tires), yes. But not wobble.
When you do what we do, you see it! It's just worn out parts, which can happen to any year vehicle.
