The RAM management test😂😂😂
That was embarrassing by the Pixel 8 Pro. Google is charging flagship prices for a midrange phone
@@lamar310They’ve got to be lying about 12gb of RAM..🫣
Makes sense why they didn’t talked about any processing or performance improvements on stage, this phone is basically a good photography phone with literally nothing else.
@lamar310 I was like it's 200$ cheaper than Pro Max until I realized it's also 400$ more expensive than the Nothing Phone 2 and that thing completed the speed test in 2:50 , a whole 38s slower
It's honestly embarrassing as the Tensor G3 is barely as powerful as the SD 7 Gen2 meaning it will probably be slower than the 400$ Poco F5 too 😂😅
@@lamar310yeah but the gimmick Ai features 🤣
Pixel having 12 GB of ram and still couldn’t keep all of the apps open. Lack of optimization for the pixel
there's something wrong with stock os.. if you use other os in it then it keeps them all in the background
No, android is generally garbage at RAM management.
@@PegasusTenma1It's because android runs each app in it's own virtual machine. Overhead for each app no matter how small
@@PegasusTenma1Galaxy S23 Ultra and Fold were able to keep all apps open.
@@PegasusTenma1Someone hasn't used a Samsung or Xiaomi phone before😐😐
Tensor is still underwhelming, but it appears Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has bridged even more gaps, I'd be curious to see that in a test like this
Really curious to see the S24 Ultra when it releases.
These tests are biased towards storage speed, as that's what makes apps open up fast. Faster storage will pretty much win everytime.
S25 ultra will be interesting if the hype about the snapdragon 8 gen 4 is accurate.
@@RemX405 LOL the excuses continue. How about blaming Google for cutting corners on $1000 phone clown
@@MaxCaud not making excuses, the iPhone clearly has a superior storage solution. It was to address most people talking about processors, whereas the most relevant spec for this test is the storage speed.
The Google Pixel should get the "Phonebuff style (never won a speedtest) champ"
It's crazy considering the Nexus has done well historically!
I really feel like on the regular Pixel 8 the performance specs are probably acceptable as it starts at just $699, however I really feel like with the Pixel 8 Pro, Google should’ve given it better specs since it starts at $999, maybe not an entirely different processor, but just a faster clock speed and faster storage.
Google needs to sell Pixels without profit if they want more people with Pixels
Yeah it sucks that the Tensor G3 is barely as powerful as the 2yr old 8gen 1 or the current 7 Gen 2
So u think, pixel 8 can compete iphone 15 in performance? 😂
They reduced the frequency for a strange reason at the last minute..
The leaked frequencies where all a quite higher
@@Rocky-pz8px not necessarily be similar to it, but at least not have this much of a gap. I mean he said UFS 3.1 storage is half as fast as UFS 4.0, so if it used UFS 4.0 it could at least do a lot better
In my own test, the Pixel 8 Pro is SLOWER than the Pixel 7 Pro.
It is literally slower than last gen. I wasn't expecting the RAM management to fail as well. What a disappointment.
is it just because of ram management failure? What do you think about ufs 3.1? Does it effect this test dramatically?
@@ayse-umitonder 7 also had UFS 3.1.
@@NomanBeats1111 I've owned every single Pixel ever made. I'm also an Android developer.
"Optimize itself" isn't a thing. It doesn't make any amount of sense whatsoever. The only thing being "optimized" is your expectations.
Pixel 8 opens apps slower than Pixel 7.
I've had both phones, and I'm sorry man, but for me the 8 Pro is way faster at everything. Every app opens super quick for me and I've had less apps I actually use get reloaded (especially Discord for instance). I guess it's not a universal result.
There might be something wrong then. Ive had the pixel 8 pro since launch and have not seen a single hiccup so far.
Still have the 13 ProMax and going back to the speed test (against the S22 Ultra), it finished in 3 mins and 12 secs. 13 ProMax is still faster than the Pixel 8 Pro considering it is 2 years old.
the pixel is a pro model not a pro max.
@@Shitor23the pixel is garbage is what you meant
@@uhhTabbyPixels are garbage but iPhones are even more worse
@@tullo5564 How lol, they smash the pixel in everything
I have pixel 8 pro and iPhone 14 pm. The pixel feels just as fast in everyday life. Speed test such as this one really don't mean a lot.
Google's 7 years of updates made huge headlines but if the phone is this bad when its new it's not lasting 7 years bro
I mean processing speed for games and video is always going to be slow but memory management does have the ability to get better over time.
It's not bad. It's a speed comparison between both new phones and doesn't say anything about the longevity of a phone, as things like RAM management can become better with Software Updates.
iphone 6s had 7 years of updates bro💀
@@eulehund99this doesn’t just apply to google, but people aren’t buying the phone for it to get better. They want “better” now. Like if someone releases a phone claiming this feature but with a software update in half a year, that’s annoying af. Samsung, Apple, and google keep doing shit like this.
@@eulehund99it does don’t be a fanboy. Slow processor and slow memory will slow down the phone even more with newer software
We need to admit the Pixel to Rehabilitation because that Ram management is concerning
That's the nature of Android...

Charging 900 for pixel 8 pro and 700 for the non pro is just criminal for its performance and storage speeds.
Since the updates are for 7 years, just buy them 2 years later and they become budget friendly mid range killers.
@@gkf3305 after the 2 years update the battery and performance will drop drastically. That has happened to every pixel out there, that’s the problem with chips with bad performance.

Watching this on the iPhone 15 Pro Max sure feels faster 😁😁
It's crazy how Samsung understands that you need to put a lot of power under the hood to have a flagship android that can keep up (and sometimes beat) the iPhone 15PM...but google seems to always think that android is better optimized than it is
I've iPhone 14 Plus and I'm pretty sure that fast speed won't last longer. Until iPhone 16 comes and slow down iPhone 15 Pro to preserve battery 😂
@@mirzarizwanbaig9449anything like that gonna happen
@@mirzarizwanbaig9449you can turn it off 🙄
It would have been epic if u had a top 10 list of the time finished for each smartphone
yea like doug score and his leaderboard
What I've noticed over the years is Google isn't focused on performance but instead AI computing and that really sucks if your flagship device with a shiny new chip is like 2 gens behind on speed. Snapdragon seems to have a way better balance catching up to Apple Silcon, and the 8 Gen 3 is the only real contender.
Even 8 gen 2 is really good
And their ai features are either half-baked or not fully ready.
The AI features aren't even that compelling, and a lot of them aren't even processed on-device. The Pixel 8 & 8 Pro have convinced me that Tensor was a failed experiment.
MediaTek is catching up also with 9300 chipset
Still nobody gonna spend $1400 on this shit 😂😂 rather get a much cheaper iPhone 15 Pro Max instead
while most people will be fine with the pixel's performance, the iphone is nice to have for gaming as well as longevity. Dissapointed in googles chip though not really improving since the tensor G1 especially if it considers itself a competitor
It’s also not a good look when the 8 Pro gets a price increase as well.
I always wondered how we can be sure they are doing the same work in these tests. It's the end user experience to open/close apps quickly and smoothly but if the Android version is doing more work than the iPhone it may not be a good comparison. Example, a smart car might be able to sip fuel and drive 300miles in 5 hrs but when it gets there, it's only carrying a single suitcase whereas a diesel truck towed the entire house behind it. Clearly an exaggeration but same idea. End of the day my pixel 6 has been snappy and smooth even with 95% of the storage full of music and photos.
SD 8 gen 3 seems to be faster than it especially with all the throttling
The G3 is basically a Samsung exynos chip. Google have delayed again creating their own chip
@@herbfst ultimately how u put it still iphone is faster it can do more work meantime pixel catches up plus it can do heavy task like a champ..day to day use doesnt include super heavy task but u will see a lot of stutter after 1,2 years with pixel and in iphone it may take more than 2,3 years with that performance
7 years of software updates for a phone that’s 7 years behind in optimisation today 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol fr
Haha
They bumped up the prices but not the performance. I wish they use Snapdragon 8 series processor for the next pixel. Performance, battery life, and thermals are the biggest reasosns I won't switch to a Pixel phone and will stick with my Galaxy S23 Ultra for a while.
It's weird when you see these tests. I returned my iPhone 15 pro and got the pixel 8 pro and I don't notice much of a difference day to day task to task and I'm a pretty heavy power user I use Photoshop apps, streaming music or TV shows daily, a lot of photos and camera time.
999$ for that Cr*p is ridiculous
So unfair. The Pixel should be compared to iPhone 10.
Don’t know why Apple gets soo much hate for the smallest issues, their phones may be expensive but they are always the flagship phones to go for in the watch market when they come out
bUT iT wILl haVE 7 YEarS oF suPPorT....
Allegedly. And with hardware two years behind, it's gonna be rough on 4th year onward
I think we all saw this coming lmao
Well it’s the same old pixel no surprises here 😂
Damn that intro was 🔥
Ufs 3.1 on P8 pro: Google pull an Apple move to charge 1K for the Flagship. This is way out of line, Google.
This is not even a test.
I am still waiting for Z fold 5 vs 15pro max
Also can’t wait for all of the iPhone 15 battery test
It’s not interesting😂😂😂 15 pm is gonna step on it😂😂
Google’s CEO should be embarrassed to have its new phone beaten this badly. Being beaten is one thing but destroyed like this with your brand new phone to the market is unacceptable. Most people who buy a Pixel will be fine with it, but Google has the means to be competitive with Apple and should have a closer result.
I can understand not being the fastest phone but it's embarrassing that the RAM management is trash and battery life is bad too. The Pixel 8 Pro is NOT a real flagship...it's a midrange phone with a flagship price tag. It's also obvious some reviews on CZcams are fake and were bought by Google to hype up the AI and skip all the performance issues
@@lamar310most of the youtubers skip it because in day to day use the pixel is totally fine, youre still getting arguably the best camera out there and the ai features that no other phone has.
The operating systems for both phones are Linux based. The CPU chips for both phones are ARM based...so, basically, it's the same overpriced experience every year.
@huanmagno one said this is a real life review. It’s just for reference and it may or may not affect someone’s purchase.
Ya the Pixel got straight crushed. Google did a lot of false bragging on that stage and really over-hyped everything. They should be directly called out. Also "best" camera is subjective. I use portrait and video a lot and the Pixel camera sucks at both.
How is google expecting this to run latest android 7 years later??
What do you mean?
This is plenty of performance loading something 0.5s slower doesn’t matter, if you are not gaming or video editing on phone your are good for few years no problem
It is gonna be hugely disappointing lol. Let's see

OnePlus 11R vs iPhone 15 Pro Max would be lit!
Google should just use 8gen 2 or 3 until it has a proper flagship chip to compete. Googles says only g3 can perform de “generative AI” features of the 8 Pro but I don’t buy it at all. It lags pretty much behind every other new flagship and probably over time those features will just be added to Google Photos (subscription).
That AI thing is cloud based.
@@PavanKumar-ft5hi totally
no one buys it. based on the SD 8 gen 3 announcement, the tensor G3 cloud computing/offloading has already been embarrassed by what the 8Gen3 can do on device(no internet connection)
The really sad part is that most or all of the generative AI features are processed in the cloud. It's not even being done with the G3 to begin with. I could tolerate the lower performance on Pixel 6 and 7, but the performance disparity between Tensor and Snapdragon (let alone Apple) is much more dramatic this year than ever. I just don't think it's justified.
@@joaofafwhich is trash, what's the point of AI being a selling point if it's subscription based lol, makes no difference for the users, might as well just use the AI stuff on their computer, if Apple's answer to AI is onboard then RIP Google and Samsung
The performance seen here really makes me question if Google can stay true to their 7 years of software updates promise.
It will be very slow and unusable with slow storage, slow processor
@@MaxMustermann-vy7urto be fair, UFS 3.x is slower than nvme/UFS 4, but it is not slow.
That will be no issue... If they promise updates to keep everything optimized im sure it will keep working great down the line.

Nice video, could you test the iPhone 15 or 15 Plus in a speed test, I’m curious how it performs against the iPhone 15 Pro Max or other androids
I tried both. Very negligible difference only btwn regular iPhone and pro variant. Didn't get a chance to test it side by side with Android
Do a Samsung Snapdragon vs Exynos again.
Is that your 12gb ram phone ?
I think you need to compare the pixel 8 with the pixel 7... Like.. generation wise... to see how much it has improved..
It's gotten worse
Google seems to think android is a lot better at optimization than it really is. They did this with the pixel 4 XL with the small battery. They need to do what Samsung does and put some more power under the hood
With phones focusing more and more about "AI" and machine learning, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to also include stuff in that direction?
I mean the A17s biggest jump by far is the NL which gets kind pushed under the rock
Nah, pixel does not even have all the ai features until December and not all are going to be processed on the chip. Maybe in the next 1-5 years, depending on how ai chips are going to improve.
The problem is no one really know how to test it.
the memory management was just terrible lmfao
Bet that iPhone Xs Max from 2018 will do better than Pixel 8 pro!
yes it most definitely will in certain apps... probably most.. yup
4gb of ram tho lol
@@mathewm3073 and?
7 years of OS updates😂😂
Just bought a Pixel 8 and I have had google maps crash on me during a few commutes. Google is charging flagship prices at this point and are hiding behind the Tensor name. When you take a portrait photo and have to wait 10 second for it to be ready to send...NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
There is no need to compare Pixel w/ iphone 😅. Only apple and samsung
Maybe you should compare the iPhone 11 Pro with this pixel, I want to laugh again. Please do it for us please
Has he ever explained how he does these tests? Like how does the arm work? It could be visual data processing, or he could be pressing buttons lmao idk
The tensor G3 is no match for the A17 pro. It even merely beating the 8 gen 1 which is almost 2 years older.
I think 7 years of updates is pointless if the hardware is struggling out of the gate. I would buy a pixel if it wasn't for the subpare hardware.
Exactly. And its not only that. Low performance = more battery drain = shorter lifespan
I knew iPhone is gonna win even before clicking on the video.
No one opens these app like this test is in the real world, doing this says nothing about the phone in general.
Whole vid is ruined by this doing the vid export at the middle of the test without it being the last, this guy never listens to his subscribers
I don’t see many creators using the timer and running app laps. Very clever speed test video. Good job.
Pixel, the forever struggling phone.
Google should switch back to Snapdragon. Especially considering the price increase this year.
I think they have to wait till their agreement with Samsung is ends first
So pretty inconsequential differences in real life use...we are at the point where phones are so fast that there is no material impact when one phone is marginally faster than the other
When you buy an iPhone you don’t look at the specs because you know it’s good.
Damn, 12GB RAM on Android and it’s still behind...
It’s only in Pixel not other Andriod
@@TanveerAhmed-dk3rpthat would make it even more laughable if even google how own android can’t compete with almost double the ram against an iPhone i mean the make Android…💀
@@MaxMustermann-vy7ur That's Google choice because they are not targeting performance centric consumers unlike Samsung and Oneplus where the performance is really high
The Tensor is still an Exynos, is it not?
Pixel 8 like it's predecessors is another stupid device from google. Google nexus used to be so good and so ahead of the game back in the days!
Does that time gap in opening set apps in such a structured manner translate into real world drastic differences tho for us users? I don’t think so. The Pixel is still plenty fast. Most people arent looking to “track race” with their phones. It really comes down to which phone makes your life easier and helps you get things done the way you find better fits your lifestyle.
*I currently own a 15P before you come at me, but I really find these tests to belittle the value and offerings of phones.*
These tests are only for reference and not “personal “.
Those few seconds don't matter but it sure shows the longevity of a phone.
Even a used iPhone XS gives a decent experience in 2023 - cant say the same for an Android released at the time. Performance headroom matters a lot.

A phone that cost over $1000 doesn’t even comes with a flagship level chipset
My cousin loves the Pixel phone. As an avid YT and brain game player, my decision is between Samsung and IPhone, again. I'm not a big picture taker and a slower speed would drive me crazy.
Google needs to stop trying to sell us on their 'better' software experience and price their products correctly in the mid range spectrum. You can't tell people you jumped ship from Snapdragon cause you wanted to have more freedom in optimizing your phone with your own processor and still fail at things like RAM management.
The Pixel 8 Pro is the slowest flagship with the worst battery life. It's time to call the Pixel lineup...midrange phones with camera tricks and a flagship price tag. Kinda embarrassing for Google
I think Google didn't go for faster such as ufs 4.0 because the Tensor G3 doesn't support it
oh that's just even worse
And also a better GPU becuse the Tensor G3 you isn't even the latest high end offering for that price range.
How are they gonna keep this phone fresh for 8 years as it's struggling in current year.

with the asking price of Pixel 8 pro you can buy much better android phones, heck even last gen android phones are miles better and cheaper if you get them 2nd handed
