Oh, How I love this horse. You can see her thinking during the routine "I got to put my feet right, I want to do this right!" and at the end she's just like "Look at me, I'm dancing!" I love how she loves her job :) Dance in peace pretty girl.
if that was actually true these professional judges would have picked up on that immediately and marked him down and he wouldn't have gotten second, this horse gave it her all every time, she was flowy and relaxed with EVERYTHING!!! if you look at her ears they are floppy and off to the side showing relaxation and that nothing is tensing her! She loved her job and gave Andreas 110% This horse was amazing and she was, heck still is, The Dancing Mare! ♥ and may she rest in peace♥
I agree with you 100%. Also notice how her tail is swinging freely and moving with her. That just further proves how relaxed she really is. The back muscles really loosen up and the tail just swings. Dressage bits are regulated and arent harsh at all.
It is a balance thing. There was a pony at my barn that I went to years ago that had gotten his tail caught in a stall door and had to have part of it removed. Before that, he was used for reining but the owner started doing pleasure with him because his balance was off.
It is true that when a horse is whipping his tail it shows disobedeince but, when a horse does some excersises they need the tail to whip for the balance. And you can see that Matine loves what she is doing, and the tail whipping is only seen as a fault when the tail comes very high. From my view Matine only does it from exitment and to keep her balance. xx

I love this! Amazing! I try to do half passes with my paint mare but only get a few steps out of her! If only we could do half passes like thooses... my life would be complete. Oh and I have friends who do high leval dressage, and the bit is only as bad as the rider. It is always the riders fault, never a bad horse just a bad rider.

I'm told that if the horse is whipping its tail about like that is shows disobedeince and is a fault. Can some tell me if this is right? Its seems to me (who knows NOTHING about horses or dressage) that Matine is doing everything her rider is asking of her and whatsmore looks to be enjoying every minute.
Horrible to look at. A totally tensed poor horse with jumpy movements...that's far away from what's called real dressage. The passage and piaffe seem to extremly strain her. She needs her whole body to move!
She was not only a beauty but a true dancer who loved what she did. The most amazing piece of dressage I've ever seen!
I'm heartbroken. I've watched this video a dozen times, and I'm amazed every time. Such a loss...I hope she's found greener pastures.

I don't know why such severe bits are used for dressage horses. They always look like their mouths are sore
Swishing is bad. See how it's kind of rolling in a circle? That's done for balance and I don't think it's a fault.
