Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Bhutan's Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck @ 8th Mountain Echoes Festival

The 8th Mountain Echoes literary festival in Bhutan's capital Thimphu promises to be an interesting affair with the guest list including the likes of Shashi Tharoor, Nadeem Aslam and Imtiaz Ali among others.
The eight edition of Mountain Echoes, scheduled to be held from August 24 to August 27 2017, will celebrate the "untouched beauty, unexplored ideas and unstoppable voices from the heart of the happiest country in the world".
Bhutan's Queen Mother, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck, showered praise on late Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at a book launch here on 26th Aug 2017, Saturday, referring to her as a woman of great courage who had a charismatic character. Wangchuck said she was personally inspired by Gandhi.
Titled "India's Indira", the book is a collection of essays and reflections on Gandhi by eminent personalities from several quarters of the world. It has been compiled by Indian National Congress and has a foreword by Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Congress MP and acclaimed writer, Dr. Shashi Tharoor shared the dais with the Queen Mother and the life of Indira Gandhi was briefly explored in a conversation between the two.
"It is 100 years since Indira Gandhi was was born. She was a lady of great courage, character and determination. She was determined to take India to great heights.
"Ever since Mrs Gandhi came to Bhutan with her father, Nehruji, riding on a yak, the bonds of lasting ties between our two nations were established," Wangchuck said.
The Queen Mother further stressed that she was greatly admired and respected in the circle of international leaders.
"Indira showed the world very early what women were capable of. She was a towering lady with a great personality. She personally showed me what a lady could achieve. I think like me all Bhutanese ladies need to learn from the example of Indira," she added.
The book was launched at the ongoing Mountain Echoes Literary Festival here, which concludes on Sunday.

I'm a huge fan of yours Dr Sashi Tharoor sir.You're certainly the most precious jewel in congress parry.Party high command should hand over leadership to a more abled person like you.Otherwise no one can save the congress party from the attrition in it's popularity and common citizens' faith in them.I used to be a fan of Modiji's enthusiasm towards his duty but many bjp supporters including me are becoming constantly exasperated by it's inability to create employment opportunities for millions and millions of educated youth.Modiji brags about India's demographic dividend but the irony is that no steps have been taken to utilize India's human resources even to the smallest extent.I guess they are waiting till 2050 when our nation will start growing old.Again demonetisation is a proven blunder now.No steps have been taken so far to tackle the 'Twin ballance sheet' issue.Increasing protectionism and rising dollar may very well be proven gloomy for globalization.In those circumstances India's aspiration to be a precocious economic powerhouse seems like just another distant chimera.I urge congress party to set aside political differences for larger national interest.Land acquisition bill is the need of the hour.Can you please influence your party high command to get rid of traditional political thinking and contribute towards a better future.They should abdicate themselves of their dynastic politics.No one have faith in RaGa.Sir please save congress from falling into an abysmal austerity and save the our nation from communal politics.Otherwise there will be no difference between Mintoo and other bellicose and hardcore Hindu nationalists who keep fomenting trouble by making irrational religious comments every now and then.

Shashi is brilliant, I hope he becomes the congress party president and eventually the PM. Rahul is unable to lift his Pappu image no matter how much he tries, first impression is generally the last one. Its too late for him, Cong should realise this we all are suffering in the process of launching Raga's career.
