Even after 4 trips into the Mojave we are still just as amazed by it's landscapes and oddities as we were the first time we crossed it. There aren't many places like this in the world!
We also finally cover the improvements to Silver in this episode including the King Suspension, Timberon Bumpstops, HD Rear Sway Bar, Front Sway Bar Delete, Fresh Tie Rods, and the new 24 Gallon Long Range Tank.

Me and my 7yr daughter old love watching your channel. It’s the only TV we watch in our house. I can’t wait to start building my 4Runner and doing this with my family in Canada. GOD IS GREAT.
“I’m fixen to fix that” 😂😂 Love it.
A Tennesseeism for sure ;)
Another nice video series along the Mojave Road, great family time with the girls. Caroline certainly is growing up and such a great help along the trail, nicely done!
You never fail to provide scenic and enjoyable glimpses into your overland adventures. Thanks for your efforts to take us along! CAN'T believe how Caroline has grown since Alaska! Cheers from Tennessee. R.
Lots of fun driving in this one... still loving the scenery though. Thanks for sharing!
As always, another amazing video and adventure with your guys. Cant wait till the next one.
Thanks for sharing your journeys with us! Caroline is turning out to be an excellent traveller!
Just went out there this past weekend! Such a fun 4 day trip for us
Looks like a great adventure!!
That clunk would drive me bonkers.
I always enjoy your videos.
“I’m fixin’ to fix that.” Classic
Another awesome episode, I love the kings on my tundra almost 5 years no issues but I suggest putting some universal rubber boots on your rear shocks to protect the shafts from rocks hitting them which could damage the seals inside when it compresses. Interesting know what the noise is, kings are still quiet on my end even with miles of off-road abuse.
I think it's your antenna spring snapping back and forth. Boom! LOL
Was just at Afton a month or so ago... Love that place!
I have Kings on My Taco and they are absolutely incredible! You're gonna love them!
I can only dream of that kind of trip. Awesome!
New to comment on your videos. I enjoy watching all your videos as I too have a daughter and like to travel. I get a lot of ideas from from you guys and I thank you! Keep up the good work and know that my daughter and I thoroughly enjoy your videos😃
Something so serene about open desert eh... here we are going on snowy adventures dreaming of the sun.
Excellent video
is actually amazing the way your underbody looks, really clean for the age and mileage. Mine is same year but far worse
It's the same angle as at the Sand Dunes NP. A fun twist is to lay perpindicular to the fall line and start rolling. When you're ready to stop, fling your arms and legs out.
Camper Caroline! Beautiful area. Stay safe.😉👍🇨🇦🌲🔥
I’m definitely sandboarding down that dune!
I am having that same exact rebound clunk and I have a 2016 4runner with no front sway bar and Ironman fcp suspension and I can’t figure it out. I’d be super interested to see what you find out. Great video as always, thanks!
Awesome time 👍
Getting down might be fun but that climb back up would be a pain. I know because I have done cardboard boxes on White Sands dunes and it was a long way back up on some of those.
That sunset was just something out of this world. Speaking about out of this world, that place kinda reminded me of Mars. Haven’t seen mars before, but from the pictures look somewhat similar.
Caroline is a champ and good help. Growing fast too, but still adorable.
Nice. I would love a BDS Lift with Kings on my truck!
King's are an awesome upgrade!!
Can't believe I lived In Needles for more than 10 years and never drove the Mojave Trail... did a lot of off-roading and camping, too!
Gettin down is the easy part. Going back up is another story:)
Very peaceful music reminds me of being at church
Hahahahaha for a second there I thought I was watching a documentary with the fantastic drone footage of the team driving across the desert. Did you get a new drone? I want the Skydio I think it’s called. It’s new and has fantastic following skills. ❤️🇨🇦❤️ Cheers!!!
Gaia maps still shows the Mojave Road driving through private property. Luckily the owner came out and sent us in the right direction but I actually got lost lol. But it was my first multi night overland trip. 2/12-2/14/2021
Alucab needs to make a Hercules rooftop tent for the 4 runner . Kind of like what they make for the Toyota landcruser
I would in a heartbeat!
Great job on this video. Is there a noticeable difference between the 2.0 and the 2.5 shocks?
How easy is it to find fueling stations along this road? I think I only have an 18 gallon tank on my Ranger so I would have to fuel up frequently I suppose.
Kings. The best.
My lower control arm bolt wasn’t torqued down as hard as it should have been. Made a sound similar to that. Took me a lot of driveway harsh braking and back and forth to narrow it down. Check it out.
Will do!
@@LifestyleOverland Let us know when you figure it out. Maybe with all these suggestions maybe you should poll.. 😂
You done a review on the gazelle yet? I'm thinking of getting one.
Thanks for another great video! Too bad you didn't board down! hahah (but not really, good long term choice) :D
Still waiting on CZcams to offer health insurance 😉
@@LifestyleOverland That'll be the day!
I spied some Ryan Bingham- South Side of Heaven. Great song.
Gotta have some Bingham when you're in the desert 😉👍
Did you get the Leica 10-25mm f1.7 ?! Or switch to the S5 ?!
I'm almost willing to be you need limit straps as the upper control arm is making contact with the coil springs of the Kings.
Oh ya, I'm both Brave and Stupid enough to ride that board! A long drive from TN, but that needs to happen!
I so want to do that trip, heck any trip currently, but boarders are closed. Even in my own country, travel is not suggested.
How do they get those routes?
Silver is a testament for Toyota quality. It will be a sad day when this rig is retired...and my only hope, is that your next choice will be another 4R.
I bet it’s just the upper control arms coming into contact with the DROOP STOPS...
I just came down here to post this. Look into some limiting straps to save your socks. I think that's classified as a mid travel suspension if my memory serves me correctly. +2 in the up and I think +3 in down. Check your droop when you can get silver up on a lift. Im with @1ROAD and would bet that it's maxing your shocks.
Surprised I found you here!
@@MrTuggins Strangely enough it's doing it without full droop; just a quick unload... I gotta get out there and chase it soon.
@@LifestyleOverland I’m betting it’s your worn upper ball joint on your Icon UCA. Swap those out or replace the joint. With your mileage on those joints, it’s time.
Glad TAV LLC could get you in on such short notice. They told me they were booked for the next 6 months...
6 months? I was told in January it would be 9 to 12 months.
LOL, we had already been scheduled for months to replace the fuel tank. I worked with Rooster to install the Kings, sway bar, and bumpstops while it was on the lift to reduce the time as well. That's why you didn't see much install footage.
@G. Blackie Blackwell They're worth the wait. Hang in there!
@@jimyeats Helps when you were already scheduled months ahead for the fuel tank swap. Also, it doesn't hurt to have some advertising help eh? These guys are worth the wait.
That noise looks like its your front D rings hitting the skid plate
I was thinking this same thing
@@keithk8561 Yeah you can see it at 4:56
I guess we know why that guy went another direction with those king shocks
Is it not the shackles on the front that are making the noise 🤔
Do you guys ever get stuck? I don't think I've seen. I get stuck regularly but I don't have your vehicle- nothing like it.
Fixin' to. How many times have I been told how wrong that is. But you go, dude. It's correct if you want it to be is my idea.
The shackles are hitting the bumper it looks like.
Have you checked your front bumper clevis/d-rings? Pretty sure that clunk are those bouncing and slapping your bumper. You can see it in the video.
I considered it but they've been on there for years, pretty sure it would have made that sound before this.
Check your motor mounts ..
Sounds like a skid plate loose
Great vid, funny I showed up with a T4 tent and camped with Casey from Coyote Works a few years back and then camped with Jason with Primal Outdoors a few times with the same T4,. I don't use mine very much these days but it is a great 3 season tent. Its great to see all of these overland peps are pushing it today. Gazelle needs to come up with a system that encloses the mesh top under the rain fly to make it a four season tent. I speak from firsthand experience in sub 0 camping
Sway bar ?
Man I have a clunk that sounds just like that. I can’t find it anywhere
Note to self, don't take my Jeep to Cali... the gas prices alone would kill me lol.
where is the wife ?
i hope she is ok
following your amazing trips from KSA
I’m that stupid, that would be a blast riding threat board down the dune. Although the wife would probably yell at me.
The most dreaded part of the whole trip...filling up in California. That's good humor. Lucky it wasn't before Covid. Gas prices were even higher.
"Would you do it?
NO
NO? Why not?
What about you?
NO
That`s why I`m not."
I think your transmission is about to fall off...🤔😝... seriously though I hope you figure it out soon... sounds bad.
Gas in Baker is always a rip off. 🙄
in this episode of, poor desk jockey living vicariously through real adventurer.....
Too much noise from the susupension, especially from kings... ..... following!
That’s not the kings making that noise.
I hope you don't mind me asking, but It seems that you are not all together anymore. Is that true? What's up. Maybe I missed something....
That noise does not sound good
I don’t see the joy of not being in a forest.
Sounds like the clunk I had with my new Kings. I fixed it after they told me "tough" by sending them back. Garbage.
F#@$ 2020!!!!!!!! WORST YEAR EVER!!!!!!! For me.....
