    I am hoping Jonathan may chip in and answer some of your queries on the six months he has had with the A9III. But be patient as I am guessing he is stuck in a Bear Hide in Slovenia at present. Even the Human sent is funnelled up a 30ft tube apparently. So I guess Broad band may be limited . Smoke signals may be faster ! 🤔

    I’m still finding a lot of the A9iii shots posted having a very green yellow cast to them .
    Any chance we can see some of those buzzard shots between A1 and A9iii full screen ?
    I’d rather get a few less in focus but have the better IQ . It’ll be handy to have to use alongside the A1 but definitely won’t replace it for a lot of us

    Thanks guys; while having the A1 since it hit the shelves and enjoying my recently acquired 300 GM , I still thinking about the a9iii.What still keeps me putting off the most is the croppability.As was explained , cropping is widely spread amongst wildlife shooters.Up scaling your pictures makes the workflow more complicated though.

    • @CamillaI
      @CamillaI  Před 2 měsíci +1

      The real answer is get in closer to your subjects , but in the real world "Crop Ability" is crucial for wildlife images . I haven't upscaled yet but I suspect Jonathan has he is the Computer King 👍

    • @Jonathantuba
      @Jonathantuba Před 2 měsíci

      What I did not say on the video is although the area of the sensor is about half the size, in real life the pixels across is what matters when cropping. For the A9iii that is 6000 on the long side against 8640 on the A1 - so in that respect is only about 30% smaller - not as bad and then you can upscale in Lightroom to double the size using the 'Enhance' feature - very simple.

    Good discussion, has Johnathan done much video? I would be interested in how they compare on video, does the eye autofocus on the A9III make a difference and does needing an ND filter in bright sunshine make a difference? By the way, I do blame you gentlemen and the rest of CZcams for me wanting the Sony 300mm F2.8 lens for so much money, never thought that would happen LOL. Today’s new lens are so good, TCs are viable options now. Thanks for the video!

      Hopefully Jonathan will chip in but I think he is in a Bear hide in Slovenia. The A9III has got the better Eye A/F but generally I know it is hard to believe but it is generally stickier and more reliable than the A1 A/F. Jonathan did use a Polarizer drop in filter the other day . But I haven't heard how that went ! Jonathan has a lot to answer for but the 300mm is an amazingly good lens. I had the 2x on it today and had some great results 🤔👍

    I took Jon's approach with getting the A9iii over the A1. I can wait for an A1 ii and think about about all the shot's i wouldn't take waiting or buy and A1 and invest in the outgoing technology. I would rather the 50 mp but with all the tools available to enhance an image, its more of a want than a need.

    Oh 5h##, this is going to be £££ I just ordered an a9iii rather than the a1 that I thought I wanted. Whilst awaiting delivery, I chanced upon this as part of my post cognitive dissonance reflections. Now I'm being tempted to raid my 'piggybank' for Sony's new 300mm f2.8 which will doubtless outperform my 200-600.
    GAS is expensive, perhaps I should just get out more and use what I have!

    • @Jonathantuba
      @Jonathantuba Před 2 měsíci +1

      The main reason I decided on buying the A9iii rather than wait for the A1 mark 2 was all the pictures I would miss capturing without the A9iii. Just today I missed two images when shooting using the A1 I would almost certainly have captured if I had been using the A9iii instead. That is why the A1 is now largely just my backup body for when I am out with two lenses of different focal lengths.

  • @KungPowEnterFist
    @KungPowEnterFist Před 2 měsíci +1

    Between the A1 and A9III, It's the A1 without any doubt whatsoever. The real question is why would you buy Sony for wildlife/sports action. Sony is very far behind Canon and especially far behind Nikon in the wildlife/sports action game. Sony would need to release 8-10 great 300mm+ lenses tomorrow just to get in the conversation. That is how absurd this is. The answer to the actual question is the Z9. That is the wildlife/sports action camera that currently "reigns supreme."

    • @CamillaI
      @CamillaI  Před 2 měsíci

      Well the Sony 300mm is the lightest in class and that's what makes it so attractive, but have never used Canon Camera gear. Although I do mention it to beginners as the most progressive system to move up in 🤔👌

    • @timwhite1111
      @timwhite1111 Před 2 měsíci

      This has gotta be satire? Sony 300mm GM, 400mm GM and 600mm GM are comfortably superior to the equivalent Canon big primes. The 600mm GM with 1.4TC beats the Canon RF 800 f5.6, and 600 GM with 2x beats the Canon RF 1200mm, and at a lower price. And don't even get me started on the bodies, Canon still don't really have a high end body for wildlife (R3 too low res for most people, R5 needs a stacked sensor, hopefully in the mark ii). Granted Nikon have come on strong, especially with the 600mm f6.3 for non-big-prime budgets. Canon is a very very easy bottom of the 3 for wildlife though (I've shot Canon for 20 years, 2 x 600 f4 etc).

    • @KungPowEnterFist
      @KungPowEnterFist Před 2 měsíci

      @@timwhite1111 No, its not satire. The RF 400, 600, 800 pro primes are better than Sony's 400, 600 GM lenses. Sony doesn't even have an 800, and no way does the E 600 GM with a 1.4x TC overtake the RF 800 f5.6 being that Sony's TC's are easily the worst of the big three. Canon also has the RF 100-300 f2.8, which is far more useful than the E 300 f2.8. Sony has no answer for the RF 100-500, and the RF 200-800 is wildly popular among the entry level crowd. The only reason the E 200-600 sells well is due to a lack of options. Nobody actually wants that lens.
      Concerning Nikon, this is not even a discussion. You have all the FL glass from last gen, which individually and collectively blow Sony out of the water. The F 500 f4E FL ED VR and F 800 f5.6E FL ED VR (with bespoke 1.25x TC), in particular, are as optically perfect as it gets. Even some of the G glass is still viable in 2024. Then you have four PF options, 300/500/600/800, all of which are stellar for the size, weight and price. Sony has no answer for any of those. The Z 400/600 TC lenses have no "or equal." The Z 100-400 is better than Sony's version. The Z 180-600 is better than Sony's version. Like I said, Sony would have to release 8-10 great 300mm+ options, and at least some of those have to be class/formula leading to get in the discussion with Nikon. Nikon has "come on strong" more than 10 years ago, and at this point it is practically insurmountable for Sony to catch up in wildlife/sports action no matter how many more A1's or A9's come out. Camera bodies are nothing without glass.

    • @timwhite1111
      @timwhite1111 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@KungPowEnterFist most of this is simply factually incorrect 😂 I won't waste my time going through it all but I've used a great deal of the lenses mentioned, and there are plenty of tests available online comparing them directly which disproves a lot of what you've said.
