- If you've done any major work to the Chevrolet / GM 1.4T found in the Chevy Cruze and Sonic or the Buick Encore, then you'll need to refill the coolant. If you don't know about this secret vent, you'll be adding coolant, driving it, letting it cool, adding more coolant, repeating the cycle over and over. You also run the risk of an air pocket, which could lead to an overheat and major engine damage (head gasket, warped head, etc). Nobody wants that.
Today I'm going to show you how I use this vent to refill the coolant on these engines. It is surprising easy, and it will save you a lot of time.
The car in this video is a 2013 Chevy Cruze, but it's the same procedure for the Sonic and Encore, plus any other GM family vehicles that use the 1.4 liter turbocharged engine.
Thank you so much for watching! I really appreciate every viewer and every subscriber!

I’m not 100% sure but I think you don’t have to take that bleeder screw all the way out. Also remember when the coolant starts to come out of it don’t overtighten it because it’s plastic. Just snug works but double check afteran hour or so of driving to look for leaking and check the overflow tank shows the coolant somewhere between the low and high mark. Monitor the coolant temperature gauge over the next few weeks a# well.
You can leave it in, it's just slower. I'm too impatient to leave it in there and wait! haha But yes, excellent pointer for not over-tightening. Definitely don't want to strip it. Always a good idea to check for leaks on these engines. One overheat, and you could be looking at a head gasket job! Thanks for the pointers and for watching!
