  • WHAT CAUSES PRESSURE AND AIR IN THE COOLING SYSTEM AND OVERFLOW TANK ON CHEVROLET CRUZE, CHEVY SONIC, HOLDEN CRUZE
    In this video we will explain what causes increased pressure and air in the cooling system and coolant reservoir on Chevrolet Cruze or Chevy Sonic. We will explained what causes increased pressure and air in the cooling system and coolant reservoir on Chevy Cruze but it will work on Holden Cruze because it is the same car under different names. We explained what causes increased pressure and air in the cooling system and coolant reservoir on Chevrolet Cruze but both Chevrolet Cruze and Sonic share the same engines and other components that's why the procedure may apply to Chevy Sonic too ( verify with your service manual).This video should be helpful on:

There is corrosion in the Cylinder Head which causes the blown head gasket as a result of which the combustion compression pressure enters the cooling system. After the head gasket was replaced and the cylinder head corrosion was repaired, the coolant level in the reservoir stopped rising....

    I see the cap , I took a turn saw bubbles with fluid new drive it then check after 4 hr and was told to change it at the end hose it spewed leaks after 5 minutes doing it this way cleaned up the resivoir but pressure or known air force it out maybe when open it has air so it was cap after the hiss from a 5 minutes drive and open cap for 25 I think it had lost air , but because Holden's are similar it must be the cap that air gets out not the bleed if you empty a radiator it's reverse seal or no Deal , I wonder if tips were able to assist with the exchange , so bit by bit it don't ruin the seal of system , as coolant can attack them wen oil contaminates so trustfully the hose and back pipe are dirty after shut off , the tip is good but the traces of any aren't solely able to get free as a wipe or word sludge , it it on the mount , sprayed wd and it snug slipped up the hose spray the top of mount wiped off as much road grime and think a radiator at that is a repair the system so did it repair , I would've replaced radiator or need as a good time when it's a thunderous storm good deal of advice

  • @allancrow134
    @allancrow134 Před 4 měsíci

    If your head gasket is blown, warped or cracked and you are getting blowback into your cooling system you can dump a liter of "Blue Devil" yellow label head gasket sealer into your cooling system and it might seal the breach. It costs about $50 and is way cheaper than a head gasket job. It's a temporary fix but if the breach is between your combustion and cooling system it will seal it. If your vehicle is high mileage or not worth the cost of the repair you've got nothing to lose. I wouldn't be telling you this unless I had seen it work for myself. My 2005 Chevy Uplander had 400.000 km on it when the breach happened, it wasn't worth a head gasket replacement, the Blue Devil fixed it and I'm still driving it 20.000 km later. So there is that.

And in the mornings the level is higher than normal. And if I open/remove the expansion tank cap, it whooshes out air and the level drops again. Do you think I may still have air in the system? Should I replacing the cap? I was thinking it may need to be vacuum filled to eliminate all possible trapped air.. the level rising every morning has me puzzled..

    TRY THIS FIRST! Just to advise anyone with this issue with the same ecotech engine, head gasket may not be the cause of bubbles in the expansion bottle. After the bubbles appear, turn off the veichle and smell in the general area of the bottle what air was in the bubbles. If it smells like exhaust fumes, this may be a head gasket issue. If it just smells of coolant or heated water, the bottle cap and/or the bottle may be faulty. Replace the cap or the bottle or both and bleed the system via the plastic nut on the top left of the radiator. Idle the car and monitor for bubbles. Key action - any coolant leaks need to be fix first as these car air lock easy.

    I have a 2014 Chevy Cruze ltz, since I bought it it has always had a sound like water running behind the tachometer, last year I had to repair the engine because I had a previous job and they placed the asbestos engine gasket, which which caused the engine to melt since that joint could not withstand the temperature at which the car engine works. Well, after having resolved this issue, the practicing sound disappeared, but with the passage of time it has returned to be heard a lot, it turns out that this sound I understand must be associated with the coolant, as it turns out that the reserve when this happens, runs out, while The more coolant the tank has, the louder and longer the sound, but over time the coolant disappears and I have to refill it. I did a complete change of the entire engine cooling system, I just didn't change the radiator because it was in good condition, water pump, thermostat, water outlet, etc., but it persists.

    My Merc Sable just had a giant boilover after driving for a bit. nothing overheated at all, I figured out the coolant had been the same coolant for over 15 years. In the past year, the motor has gotten dirty from a previous owner who had mistreated it, mostly from the gas tank from being completely emptied, and there being too much oil in the system. I'm honestly surprised the head gasket hasn't blown apart. Those Duratecs are seriously durable.

    If we didnt do a air release of the installation and we have air bubbles insidie air coolant reservoir it is possible also because of these bubbles to lower the temperatures of the coolant? My car has air bubbles in reservoir and the temperature indicators jumps from 2 line to 4, mostly stays at 2 lines (normal should be 4 out of 9)

    Not a good idea to open immediately, unless you don't mind looking like Scarface, but waiting 12 hours is unnecessary. Wait at least an hour, and then turn slowly and let the pressure release. Once you hear the air is out, go ahead and open it. Common sense is keeping your face back at all times.

      I dont think so, usually the water bottles have a whole for a bleeder just underneath, but also try running the engine for 15min with the bottle opened and fully open air con, you'll see bubbles popping on the bottle, then after 15min you can close it with the new bottle Cap. Done

      @@TheKhwailed For your situation. I used to always assume it was a leaky head gasket allowing exhaust pressure into the cooling system with your situation. While the engine is running, The water leaves out with bubbles in it. You can have a leakdown test done, and a coolant test where they determine if exhaust is in the coolant. You might as well get a cooling system pressure test as well. The car probably drives fine for 10-15 minutes and then after that it starts to overheat? Your having to put coolant in after the overheat...

      @@dennisrobinson8008 I had this problem years ago...about two yrs ago .. in the coolant overflow tank there was even clear smoke besides the bubbles .. even when the engine was still cold ... I repared the gaskets ... But still had the same problem .. no smoke in the coolant overfliw tank ... But still back pressure right after the engine's temp. reaches normal ... Too much water overflow ... I just close the cap and drive as usuall ... But there was some water leakage which caused my engine to go completely useless! ... So I simply had to replace the entire engine with the coolant back pressere issue still persisting. After a short while I discoverd the leakage ... It was coming from the cabin heater core! And due to the messy repair job... I just by passed and cancelled the heater core from the system (although I disagree with this act) . Now my car is working just fine ... No coolant leaks .. and no water loss .. and everything is almost just fine. Only one thing which I did'nt know what was going on about it was that everytime I try to air bleed the cooling system, when I start the engine from cold while the cap is open for the air bubbles to go out, once the engine reaches its normal temperature, the water starts flowing out of the coolant tank instead of going down as the thermostat opens! I simply ignored this by adding water and compensating the lost one during the backflow out of the cap as I described, and for the air bubbles, I simply add water untill the system (auto bleeds) it self. No more leakes ..no more signs of of a bad head gasket... everything's just fine, except for the (reason) why the water leaves through the cap when the eng. reaches normal temp. insteading of going down when the thermostat is open.
      Sorry for writing too much!

      @@TheKhwailed We used to bypass heater cores on 5.0 mustangs back in the late 80's to mid 90's. They always leaked, made a mess, overheated the car and it was not a super easy job. So we bypass and drove until we were ready to deal with it. Warm weather cars, might entirely bypass it for good... Those pesky problems suck, when the evidence normally means one thing but it's something else.
