  • Canada Immigration 2020 - Is there racism in Canada
Black Canadians have died at the hands of police, but despite this, some say Canada doesn't have the same problems with race as America. A new survey found the majority of Canadians say race relations here are generally good, but that racism is a reality especially in the form of “microaggressions” or “modern racism.”
Protests erupted across the United States, Canada, and the world over the weekend, as thousands demonstrated against racism and police brutality, specifically towards members of the black community. These demonstrations, in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, aim to seek justice for George Floyd. Floyd was killed during an arrest in Minnesota on May 25, after a white police officer kneeled on his neck for nearly nine minutes.

The most racist people in Canada are immigrants. Not white people. As a real estate agent, I notice 70% of landlords in Toronto are Chinese. The rest are a mix of other cultures. In all instances when I have had black clients looking to rent a condo or house , the Asian landlords always decline. They don’t even give them an opportunity even if they have good income or credit score. They are so rude that they don’t even reply to our application. The most racist people are them

IF YOU are victim of racism:
    1. Take the names of the racist place or club
    2. Rate the club 1 star
    3. Write a review or comment describing the racism
AND IF YOU WANT TO DO MORE
    1. Create a blog and post the videos, and write short but striking comments on each
    2. Make the blog fly by publishing it everywhere!!!
If racism happens in the street, use your phone and take videos to record the event if you can or take a voice record of it. If necessary, contact a lawyer, it is a better idea than going to see the police yourself particularly in some European countries

I am planning to move to Canada, so I am checking what is the real-life in Canada because I think we as possible immigrants tend to idealize the country as a perfect one with birds, squirrels lakes, and snow for everyone. Still in my perception is a way better country to live that most of the countries at least in South America.

Exactly, investigate because Canada can ruin your life like it idid to me. Canada is a conservative country and therefore racism is conserved in rhe culture. The whole Canadian system is racist. The government, the offices, the healthcare. Canada is worst than the USA believe. At least in the USA people acknowledge that there is rscism and you can talk about it but here white Canadians don’t want to acknolwedge and yet their behaviour is clearly biased and racist. And white racist people in Canada don’t suffer any consequences for their nasty actions.

My ppl were forced into residential schools, raped, beaten , put in an electric chair, forbidded to speak their native tongue, and not compensated for it as promised. The slogan was " the only good indian is a dead one" " kill the indian not the child." Native youth that travel from.the reserve to thunder bay to go to school are killed annually. My opinion is the white kid's that are protesting alongside the black lives matter movement should start a protest regarding their future when it comes to racism and discrimination matters . They are stating that the increase that we are seeing regarding hate groups in this country is because of the decline in white birth rates and the demographic change that will happen in the coming future . The white governments have passed this down year after year to victimize people of color and the only way changes might come if they see their own children and grandchildren protesting for changes to hold people and governments accountable in order to stop passing this down for future generations to deal with .

As a black Canadian I experienced more racism from Asian Canadians than from white Canadians although it comes from White Canadians also because they are the majority. Canada really fu**ed up with this nonsensical policy of multiculturalism and having people from all over the world living there and telling everyone they can keep their culture and beliefs.

Wow... Even Canada hates black people? My life is a lie, I can't believe this. In South Africa, Canada has a good reputation of being nice and kind and accepting of everybody. It also has a reputation of being one of the safest countries in the world. I was thinking about moving to Canada because South Africa is not a safe country, for foreigners and South Africans too. I'm half Zimbabwean and half South African, so trust me, I'm not lying. I was doing research for the safest countries in the world and Canada was one of the top 5. Because I thought Canada wasn't racist, I assumed it was the best choice. To be honest, I can understand why people move overseas for a better life. But if I'm going to settle anywhere, I don't think it's worth my future children experiencing more racism than what I've felt, growing up. Especially if we're law abiding citizens who aren't hurting anybody and are just trying to make an honest living. Anyways, thanks for telling us the truth. I appreciate you for it. I guess I'll just do research to move to different African country then... But do other African countries, even like South Africans? I wouldn't blame anyone if they hated us, but I just want to know.

Hello Emcee Bernardinho, welcome to Canada!!! I welcome people of all cultures to be part of Canada but, just as important as learning one or both of our official languages, is to truly delved in our nation's history. To understand that it is a much different path than America, and that we are not just another America in the north. My greatest fear is not about having black people coming to live and prosper in this wonderful nation. My greatest fear is the dysfunctional American culture influencing our Canadian communities and youth too much. That's why it is critical that people take the time to understand Canada long before they came here, long before my grandparents came here from Italy, and even if they are the descendants of the colonies of the British Empire and France. There is discrimination but, with the context of the past, they will understand that it's simply not right to put Canada into the same blood soaked racist bag as America. They will have the same concern about American influence as I have, and it's an influence that only makes racism between peoples and cultures worse.
I lived in the GTA over 30 years ago. I was born and raised in Southern Ontario but I now live in Atlantic Canada. As a man in my 50's I am well aware of the quiet discrimination below the surface that I have personally faced for being a "WOP" in a "WASP" neighborhood, and my black friends faced in the past for trying to date white girls and other unfairness. Maybe before some of the younger folks that see this were born. Once again, there is discrimination but it's not to the same degree of American dog-eat-dog society, which I fundamentally believe has been badly influencing our youth. The GTA has changed for the worse.
When I lived in the GTA, my friends and I could go to Eaton Center in Toronto and not have to worry about little girls being in the cross fire of rival gangs. This was before the Toronto Raptors, but I can assure you there would not have been a gun fight at the team's celebration parade. As a Raptors fan I was peeved. There was no gun fight when Italy won the world cup, and I was there with a million people celebrating in the GTA in 1982. I honestly think that what has happened to the GTA over the last 30 years is a gradual American cultural blight. That it is that powerful influence making the GTA into another dysfunctional American city, when it actually has been the greatest example of multiculturalism in the world!! No other nation in the entire planet has had the relatively peaceful cultural mosaic of Canada. That includes the American "melting pot." I regret not mentioning this in any of my earlier posts on this topic but for me, Masai Ujiri is a modern Canadian hero!!! Not because he brought an NBA championship to Canada. He understands the power of the multiculturalism of our nation, and told us to not doubt ourselves. He leads by example to show and inspire less fortunate youth in Africa on how they can change things, and work hard to be successful. May The Creator bless that man!!! 😊
Some final thoughts for people trying to understand the differences between Canada and the United States...
We don't have the same blood on our hands and dripping from our history books. Their Indian Wars on the First Nations people was genocide and without mercy (look up Wounded Knee). We didn't have their extreme obsession with slavery, all of which are things that they are paying a price for now. Also, we have our poor and suffering in Canada, but the United States takes things to an extreme in their dog-eat-dog self-interest focused society. There are exceptions but, overall, there is so little regard for social responsibility in that society. With this pandemic, you can clearly see the difference in their approach by the way that their leadership (especially their Congress) have treated its working class verses the way that our government has. Their Congress have the financial authority to do for the working class what they did for the investment banks in 2008, but they dragged their feet to provide any financial help while people were losing their jobs, income and health insurance. They caused so many people to become desperate with no support. That has fueled some of the chaos there. Americans took to social media to show the suffering first hand. It's tough to pay for testing as you experience symptoms, when you're having a hard time paying the rent and putting food on the table for your kids.
This all comes full circle to the race issues. Of course, given the social economic status in America, it is the Blacks and Hispanics that are taking the brunt of the hit. It is also why Blacks and Hispanics in America have been having a harder time with the Covid-19 pandemic. The Canadian response has been so much more fair because, even though we have our share of self-interest and quiet discrimination, we are overall a much more socially responsible society. There is nowhere near the same degree of desperation and suffering here as there is in America. It's not even close.
Take care Emcee Bernardinho, and again, welcome to Canada!!!! 😊

@B B Hello B B. Welcome to Canada as well!! As you see, I am deeply concerned about negative American culture and its influence on Canada. However, not all American culture has been bad in my life. Decades ago Sly Stone inspired me with a simple message. As I've gotten older, I actually appreciate even more what he tried to do long ago. He lead by example and had the first interracial band. He even stood up to Muhammad Ali who, on the Mike Douglas show, was championing extreme ideology beliefs. Even inspired, it is hard to keep hope in these dark and troubled times but it is my sincere hope that you remain inspired and keep the love in your heart. I dedicate both versions of this song to you B B: czcams.com/video/YUUhDoCx8zc/video.html ... czcams.com/video/-g4UWvcZn5U/video.html
Ultimately B B, I believe that The Creator is The Truth and that, if we strive to seek The Truth with sincere humility, he will set us free. For people that have lost hope or are Atheists, this has been my message for them to ponder:
The one called Jesus Christ in English is the human essence of The Creator, so that The Creator could be among us to lead by example as one of us in creation. He was the greatest example of all of the virtues and showed us how to best live. It's our free will to follow his example or not. The malice in hearts is why things are heading to Hell on Earth. The Creator is both Mercy and Justice, and he is allowing us to lay in the beds that we have made here. Malice makes it a bed of nails for all of us. People need to let it go and find room in their hearts for love for their fellow mankind. May The Creator open eyes and hearts to The Truth. There is too much ideology instead of love, and loyalty to the created instead of The Creator. My hope is for so many more people to experience The Truth, in humility, before their last breath.

Or maybe Canadians ("Old stock" Canadians") can see that they are being replaced and are just sick and tired of it!

Man, this is heartbreaking....I love Canada, I like to move to Canada and grow my family in Canada as a Nigerian but it is disheartening to see what my kids are vulnerable to and to hear that most black families move around the cities without freedom. They have to be taught what to say, the fear of being misrepresented and assaulted by the police and the fear of surviving all these daily makes me think," does this really worth it?" Secondly, how effective is the space of Canadian government authorities in the heart of the indigenous Canadian people and the Police officers in the reality of racism amelioration?
Could this actually be addressed in a short space of time or has this been re-dressed since the death of George Floyd in the States? Thank you

Check stat canada website for unemployment by ethnicity...thats the systemic racism...not to mention lack of callbacks for jobs just based on name alone...which has been proven time and time again

A lot of professionals will come to Canada first. When they realize they can’t good career opportunities they will try to resettle to the States. My friend’s dad from the Philippines could not find a good job in Canada so he move to Irvine, CA. Eventually the whole family moved to the states. 1) He was success in the US and didn’t require ‘American experience.’ 2) For how racist the US may be, not one of his kids have decided to return to Canada.

Racism in canada is quite odd since its quite are very differently between quebec and the rest of canada. Anglos Canada is more about white supremacy and protestant religious extremists while quebec can be extremely xenophobic towards religions and anyone who's they think aren't integrated within quebec society so racism in quebec is alot more about ur culture than ur skin tone like we hate the anglos Canadians more than anyone else 😂
