The ONLY review I was waiting on 👏🔥
For a videos in the future. Would it be worth doing something like a "what you should expect from your headphones at different budgets" kind of thing. I know the higher up you go in headphones you start to split hairs on what you can hear or what better headphones do that worse ones can't handle. Maybe there is a level up guide, pick maybe 2 or 3 songs that scale well and reveal more with better headphones so that someone who doesn't know what to listen for can have a target to listen for? I find there isn't an easy guide for this on youtube. Websites usually have test songs but not what each price bracket should be able to achieve. I know all equipment is different but some kind of guide posts would be useful I think, like headphones in the 200-300 range should give you at least "this" and maybe what 2-3 specialists in the category give you, 600 "this", 1000, 1500, 2000 etc. I know Andrew has his list of songs and descriptions for why he uses them, but given this is a youtube channel and not everyone is checking forums, it would be nice to have a run through with pre-made playlists in the description to follow along. You guys can hear those differences but you know what to listen for. I know it's often listen to what you like but you can train your ears with the songs you provide as well if someone wants to put in the work. Maybe that resource is already out there and I missed it but I'd personally enjoy it.
That's a pretty good idea.. I'm pretty sure that the headphone show team did something similar once in one lengthy video.. they had diffrent price brakets and every one chose his favorite audio gear that'd fit the price range.. it was more of a "fun" video tho insted of a reference video for what to expect and what'd be the best in a certain price range. But yea tbh the idea that you mentioned would be helpful if made in a youtube video form.
Looking forward to you publishing the in-app EQ profile for your Bose QC45 😄
I love how this opened by just ripping into both brands. The creaking noises they made were so bad that I had to take out my IEM's

Love the effect of him pulling the Bose headphones seemingly from mid-air. Good off screen set-up.

Fair. I use Bose NC700 for plane trips, comfy and the audio is at least non-fatiguing once EQ'ed.
Great vid! If you haven't all ready would love to hear your take on the Audeze Maxwell.
What's your EQ for QC 45s? I can't make them sound acceptable. They either sound muffled or just have ear pearcing treble in some tracks if I try to up the treble by 3-4. And it seems like the bass EQing doesn't do much, probably, due to driver limitations.
Try AutoEQ
Saved me a purchase. Thanks
Have you done a video comparing the Beats Studio pro with the Beats Studio 3 headphones 🎧?
💯 agree about the comfort. Completely uncomfortable on the ears and the top of your head. The AirPod Max, which are significantly heavier, are way more comfortable to wear for long periods of time.
DMS what we settings do you use for the QC45?
Profit margins: The headphone. Bought to you by Beats.
Maxwell and Bathys should clean the floor with these by now.
Bathys is a different market/price to these. But Maxwell is the real deal
@@benji.bae.2505 If you consider value then Airpods Max and the other MSRP $500 mainstream options are ridiculously overpriced compared to Bathys.
@@benji.bae.2505 Maxwell will never be taken seriously by the general public because it's too heavy.

PEQ (which I understand to be the type where you can widen or narrow the range of each adjustment - correct me if I'm wrong)

Hi DMS! What EQ settings do you use for the QC45? I landed on +2, +5, -5 (bass, mids, treble)

Can we get a video on the best wireless anc headphones to buy at different price tiers? Like a round up
Are you still using the Nothing 1 phone or was that a pretty set dressing? Have you any thought on the Nothing 2 phone as a daily driver for the future?
I've gone up to the Nothing Phone (2), but yes nothing's phones are still my daily driver.
@@DMS3TV Nice I been interested with a Nothing phone for when mine dies.
I don't know why these big brand headphone / audio companies refuse to produce good products with good tuning. It's sad that so many people keep overpaying for this garbage.
That’s why quality is better than the name brand and price. Bose, Sennheiser, Bowers and Wilkins and other well respected brands in the world of audio are proof that you can make great wireless headphones that have great comfort and great tuning at the same time.
What about the microphone?
Comfort was a big, big miss. I did notice it sounded less tinny/metallic, even somewhat pleasant and better than AirPods Max, when in usb dac mode. Curiously, Apple Music android wouldn’t work on my DAP when connected via usb dac mode. Hilarious. Bathys is the one the beat.
I'm pretty sure walmart makes an anc headphone under their "onn." brand and i can't imagine it's any good. Might be fun to put them in a head-to-head against the beats as a sort of clash of the trash
onn will definitely be of better value than most beats products (at least onn is cheap trash)
If only these people knew real sound...Can we do a video of you guys stopping people wearing beats on the street and then letting them play the same track with a Focal Bathys or a pair of 660's on a portable Dac, Amp? I'd love to see the moment their eyes widen!

I picked up Beats Studio pros found them a bit uncomfortable. While planning on returning them I picked up momentum 4s since I used to have the pcx 550s. To my surprise the momentum 4s were actually worse, it felt like tight suction cups on my head and are very bass heavy.
I was looking for something over ear that would be better than the AirPods Pro 2s. So far no luck. Starting to think over ear anc headphones are no longer for me.
Try pulling out the headband all the way then wear them for a while playing nothing, this should loosen them up and reduce the bass.
Im struggling with this too. I want to use them on my Apple TV and iPhone and I like the Dolby vision implementation on Apple Music.
AirPods Max would be easily my first choice BUT no EQ and they are a bit to shouty at anything above 70db. Not really that comfortable to cheaper alternatives. Best build best detail and soundstage. The cups hit each other quite often tho? Might result in scratches. The case is dumb but idc not a dealbreaker
Sony xm4 and xm5 have a much nicer tuning but they sound like ass because of the muffled sound. Detail is basically not present and the build quality is kind off cheap.
Momentum 4. are pretty good overall but I’m not a huge fan of the touch controls and the tuning sometimes make them sound like someone turned up saturation a bit too high. Build quality is pretty good.
I’ll check out studio pros and QC45 tomorrow. I’ve worn the QC45 already and they honestly have the best comfort and 2nd best build after the APM
audeze maxwell is vastly superior to any of these, ignore it's gaming credentials (unless you are indeed a gamer) and you have a phenomenal sounding, comfortable and incredibly versatile planar magnetic headphone with onboard versatile eq, unbeatable battery life and best in class sound

I came across a pair of these. The owner swore to me they were not the kids version. They are tiny.
Haha considerably different perspective than most (if not all) I have seen. And this is far more believable 😂
Thanks for you video. I have a pair of the Beats Studio Buds plus also Audio-Technica Samsung Galaxy buds live and both the Sony WH XM4 1000 and the WF XM4 1000. It's interesting that you mentioned the detail compared with the Sony. From what you mentioned with the audio performance of these Sony absolutely and completely from my perspective blows these put the water in basically everything and also detail. Thanks again for the video.
Story time: the day these came out there were TONS of reviews that were praising these on YT. I told my brother about these (non-audiophile / normie) and he picked these up specifically for gym use. He thought they sounded good (again, normie) and then I tried them and… yeah they are awful… AirPods Max (which I also don’t like) are faaaaaaar superior.
The noise canceling capability is on the level of what you would find on cheap entry level Sony wireless headphones and the sound is just bad man… it really is. Can’t believe how many YT channels are willing to praise these things, probably getting some promo money even from Apple/Beats. Not saying they did but it wouldn’t surprise me if something fishy like that was going on.
Your brother is right. Also, how many do you see using audiophile iems, headphones while doing workouts, jogging? For real, maybe sitting at a cafe but not while doing workouts unless you have you can recommend. One more thing, enough with the normie label. It doesn’t make anyone any more special for spending tons of money with these devices, you’re no different than those forking out for the next shiny thing lmfao

I have done my own comparison between Beats and Bose. I have owned both at the same time. The decision will be made on the intent of use. I love both for different reasons. The Bose will have more clarity and definition while listening to live instruments like jazz but The Beats will have more volume while listening to hip hop and rap.I listen to it all. I The average gym rat or just socialite is not worried about every octave and super clarity and will choose the volume over the clarity and also not worried about long amounts of comfort. The longevity has shown that neither is more superior in my opinion. Its all in individual choices. They all go bad with time with more use or less use.......choose your weapon!
When consumer electronics companies use the marketing term 'Pro' like other companies use equally meaningless marketing terms like 'Mil Spec' or 'Aircraft Grade'.

I’ve been waiting for this, sorry to learn how they turned out, but thanks for saving me the $300. I own a pair of the old Beats, and it seems the primary design goal was for them to stay on your head while you worked out in a gym. I think the best thing about them is they’ve always flawlessly paired with all my Apple devices. Sennheiser, Bose, Audeze, every other wireless headphones I’ve owned at some point stops pairing with one or more devices and thus becomes a useless brick. The I’d like to see your update as to which headphones you’d choose today on a plane flight.
Try resetting those other headphones, you csn find guides online
How does an Apple-owned product have conflicting design choices when paired with an Apple product? The USB-C and 3.5mm connectors being on the opposite sides of where you usually find those on a MacBook, like how you demonstrate, is just so poor!

Hmm…
#Royalties
??? Not a cent
Consultation doesn't traditionally give royalties. When a company uses a person's brand for a headphone, then royalties would be applicable.
Nobody who consults/assists/helps/aids with a product should publicly say anything positive about it, that is shilling & will affect the persons credibility (especially if they are a reviewer). It’s as simple as that, let’s not miss the forest for the trees here please.
@@sjqideez6626 when giving nothing advice on tuning ear(2) I didn't ask them to tune to my preferences. It's based on the preferences of the statistical majority.
IMHO, reviewers shouldn’t even talk about the sound quality if the comfort is terrible. Uncomfortable headphones are trash. Nobody will use them willingly.
The beats has its flaws no doubt, but I don’t agree with half of the things you said about the beats. Let’s understand they are not on the same level with the competition and that’s the biggest flaw mainly because of the price. If these were $250 instead of $350 the whole narrative changes.
The Bose don’t have wear detection and they cost $320 but no one talks about that.
Overall, the beats have a target market.
No one talks about it because Bose are superb at two things you buy the QC45 for. ANC and comfort. That's why they're called QuietComfort. Wear detection is not important at all, and certainly not a feature that's worth $300+.
@@blue-lu3izVery weird. If you had to choose between two $300+ headphones, they would compromise comfort, anc, and arguably sound quality for wear detection? Sounds silly. Even at $250, it's overpriced, but that's coming from someone who would not buy ANC headphones for more than $200.
I personally hate wear detection. I turn it off on my Momentum 3 because when I lift up one earcup, it pauses my audio completely. I'd rather press the pause button.

This dude is CLEARLY biased against Beats in his review.
I simply don't use affiliate links 😉
This video felt overly negative. Most other reviews of these are saying they’re okay for what they are, other than being a bit overpriced for the build quality and a few missing features. Maybe it’s better to avoid reviewing a product if you dislike the brand or product so much that it results in basically a rant instead of a more formal review?
It's not just bad for the price, it's bad for even 30% of its price.
Bad products are bad. People should stop making excuses for poorly designed, badly constructed junk. The joke on people who'd buy these is that the Sennheiser Momentum 4s are the exact same recommended retail price, and the Sennheisers do everything well that the Beats do badly.
Bad take
Good observation. David made sure he hut Goliath where it counted. This is more like David throwing as many rocks as he can find.
Never understood DMS's take on the AirPods Max. He admits that the AirPods Pro are really good, but the over-ear version is somehow shit? If you hadn't heard both you'd think they have completely different tunings based on what he says. I use both on a daily basis and they're far more similar than they are different, so having such an opposite take on the two products is... weird.
Ends up they are completely different tunings. The airpods max struggle to produce frequencies between 1.5khz and 8khz. A pretty huge chunk.
Maybe if I'm A/B-ing them in a dark room I can hear the difference. I switch between them daily while working and in casual listening they sound very similar. Does it not make sense that Apple would target the same tuning? It's not as if we're comparing HD800's and a pair of Beats or something. THAT'S completely different tunings.
350 bucks too aren't they. Oy vey
Soundcore seems to be much better value.
easy to criticize beats because they are a low hanging fruit. IMHO, Studio Pro is far better in sound and functionality than most “high end” headphones especially at the low price of $350. I wish people would stop pluralizing the model of products.
Agreed, I compared to Air pods max and Sony xm3 fairly close to the max just not as big of a sound stage. The Sony XM3 were too bassy for me in comparison to these and less comfortable. Also less features no iCloud linking, transparency much better than the Sonys, quick pairing etc.
