Better than takeout Egg Drop Soup (蛋花汤)

  • Hi, welcome to the ingredient channel. In today’s episode, I am going to show you how to make another Chinese takeout classic, the fluffy and delicious egg drop soup. While there are various ingredients that can be used for the soup, the essential ingredient and cooking part is the about eggs and how to whisk smooth and flowery egg wisps.
    Ingredients:
    Shrimp (med, peeled and deveined 4-5)
    Season with white pepper powder (1 pinch) and starch (1 tsp)
    Scallion (1 bulb)
    Carrot (2 tbsp)
    Ground turkey (1 oz)
    Season with 1 pinch of white pepper powder, 5-spice powder, salt and
    cooking oil (1 tsp)
    Water (2 cups)
    Slurry: starch (1.5 tbsp) + water (1.5 tbsp)
    Egg (2 large)
    Sesame oil (1 tsp)
    Salt (½ tsp)

    Excellent recipe! Just made it. For those making this, the shrimp go in shortly before the slurry goes in. You can see them floating in the pot as she’s stirring. Highly recommend everyone try this.
