Jeez, the pop with the confetti and Greg's reaction was more disturbing with the gore left to the imagination. This was so effective.
Imagine from greg pov. Seeing someone explode in blood that close while hearing them having the time of their lives
Got real "Meet the Pyro" vibes from this one
It reminds me The Boys
The collecting *Z's* on the rock

At the end it cuts off before Greg presumably dies
I never thought of calling a sword a sleep stick. The horror element was bloody brilliant, no pun intended.

Yep he's dead
I feel like there's a meta arc of Greg slowly becoming self-aware and realizing what's really going on with the world around him.
Since the very end won't trigger properly, as he's a NPC, he's about to find out exactly how deep the rabbit hole goes... :)
Everytime they have a NPC become self aware it reminds me of Westworld
Greg has always been self-aware. That never changed xD

Picking a bit of someone's face off of your face, after they got blown up.
That's nightmare fuel.
Morgan Freeman... "The bandits, were, in fact, dead."
😊
The Zzz coming out of the neck like a spurting artery was pure art
Isn't it funny that Greg is just a little bit self-aware but not completely to realize what other players mean
that is the worst spot to be in, when it comes to sentience ngl
He knows something is wrong with this world but not why
He knows no more than a Medieval person would. Those words are just gibberish to him.
If you think about it, the fact that he is aware that other npcs are technically "sleeping in peace, permanently" made it even more of a nightmare fuel.
There was a mix up at the pharmacy.
Greg was given half of both red and blue pills.
Greg has seen some messed up stuff but the fear in his eyes as he watchs the two psychos is next level 😂.
Just remind me of meet pyro from tf2
I love how these children glad to see Greg again. His personality is very child-friendly and children aren't bored with his dialogues and don't skip them. Also bandits' animations are simplified, maybe they even have low-poly models.
I love how these skits are just an excuse to traumatize Greg.
100% correct 😂😂
@@VivaLaDirtLeague I wish your videos were a real game 😂
@@Shrekzee I would play this so much, I keep telling myself this every video.

Did you perhaps get the balloon pop idea from Puss in Boots 2? Because it was a great addition.
@@VivaLaDirtLeague ayo??? actually confirming it
Interesting fact: Viva has been using voice changers for Ben and Adam. In this video, we finally get to hear both of their real voices.
😮
wow, that just blew my mind! 😂😂
haha. Funny enough, the voice changer is really good because I thought they actually used some kids instead of squeaky adult voices then I could hear Ben's accent and was like...Ohhhh.
True
Yup this is our real voices! 😂
What I love is that they've essentially created (accidentally or not) an eldritch horror / cosmic horror situation from the perspective of the NPCs who's self awareness spectrum skews closer to full sentience. The closer they creep to full awareness the less sane their reality seemingly becomes. This perspective persists through a lot of these skits so I can only assume it's mostly intentional. It really shows a deep or innate understanding of the subject matter (the games they parody etc..), and the storytelling concepts of cosmic horror, and juxtapositional comedy. I find the whole thing really impressive. What a great thing these guys have created together.
imagine AGI waking up to our world
You’ve taken my perception of reality, and smashed it with a sledgehammer.
so tldr they almost made npc characters who is now aware of existence. actually, no because there is one time an npc glitch and realize what is the world and got rebooted. greg seen that npc but ignores it later. so no bs like what you said.
you really nailed it with this take. you can see other people in the comments talking about how his partial understanding of the situation makes it so much worse for him but they're not making the connection to Lovecraftian horror (possibly just because they're not familiar with it).
as for the intentions and skill of the creators here, I'm gonna double down and back you up on that too. you can see at 1:02 when Greg checks the pulse of the "sleeping" bandit that there's a spray of Z's that shoots out and lands on the rock, just like a blood spray, but they didn't cut in an obvious shot of it being blood and even the later shots of blood are pretty minimal and quick. some people won't find this particularly impressive, and I guess in a way it isn't, but I think it should still be praised if for no other reason than as a counter example to too many things out there that think so little of their audience that they drop all subtlety in fear of someone not getting it which will then cause it to fall flat for anyone who otherwise would have and I think that later group is the majority and the former group will likely learn in time and then later appreciate not being talked down to.
The use of confetti after the balloon pop spell was brilliant! You could tell EXACTLY what was really happening just by the look on Greg's face!
Billy’s Dad is a genius. While he’s off grinding for money at work, Billy is grinding XP for him in game

It is kind of interesting how the more friendly the deaths, the more of a murder hobo the player character tends to get.

Let that be a lesson on certain types of censorship.
@@itchykami those who support censorship don't think this far
Ratchet and Clank is an awful example of this. There's a weapon called the "Quack O Ray" that turns your enemies into ducks... that explode... and turn other enemies into exploding ducks.
No joke. Excuse me, I need to go play Blades and Sorcery.
This was the single most adorably, traumatizing moment I think poor Greg has ever experienced 😂

nah, this was his second... third worst. The #1 experience is either how he was "balloon popped" at the end of the video, or way back when when an assassin player used "throw rock as distraction" to force greg to turn away from impending death.
I love how the viewer is asked to imagine what is under censorship. The letters z z z from the bandit's throat instead of the blood splatter andthe remains of the clapper on Greg's lips.. The viewer imagines the bloody scene for himself. The look on Greg's face after the balloon pops is great!
Thanks for the great video! ❤💙
you don't really have to imagine when they show greg covered in blood and wiping his face in disbelief
This went in a different direction than I imagined. 😂 I kind of expected it would be Greg's job to censor everything, like throwing blankets over the dead bandits and stuff.
That probably would've been the skit before the budget increase. Honestly I'd like both versions
Actually..... I'd like to see that
Ooo that’s a great idea! I wonder if there is a way to do both…?
Well we'd love to see you do it
A child safe version of the Child Safe video, sounds interesting.
Its more terrifying to realise its not “child-safe” mode from greg’s perspective. Thats why his fingers had blood. So he was seeing bodies popping🎉
the sleep spell probably had the characters have a severe aneurism according to some of the other comments. Reminds me of a particularly awful take in the Eragon book series where magic wielders have to learn how to defend themselves from magic or an opponent magician could just tell their brain stem or spinal cord to sever itself or they can turn pebbles into bullets by declaring the location that the pebble is to move to being inside of the enemy's brain.
It looked like kid safe, mostly.
E
yeah, that's kinda the point
Did this need mentioning?
The end where Greg is targeted with balloon pop and it just gets perfectly cut off just makes me wheeze.
The illusion is more terrifying than the reality it hides

It wasn’t that terrifying

I've always found it amazing how things can go from innocent to horrific with very small and minor adjustments. The more innocent something is, the smaller the adjustments need to be for it to be even more horrifying.

Alan actually depicted the state of denial that is a coping mechanism, he started ignoring horrible deaths he witnessed and concentrated on saving captured villagers, but not for long.
As a dad whose kids love to play games, this one felt very relevant, in a weird horrorifying/funny way. It is sometimes disturbing when child-friendly modes just slip a filter over more adult material. At the same time, kids often want to play the same games their parents do, so those filters can be helpful.

As I remember "somebody" was quite unhappy with 4 whole childrens saved (and others were alive as well). One should appreciate what one have 😁
I would've loved seeing some reality-glitch-effects to show the different perspectives of Greg and the adventurers, maybe even some bandits' swearing being converted to child-friendly cries of challenge and the prisoners begging for their lives, while the players just hear encouragement to free them. And blood. A lot more blood.
Or not be a glitch but in fact a different POV. Having the NPCs POVs and the players with a child filters POV be completely different. 2:05 when you choose the low honor choice
You can see it, the beginning of Greg's mind breaking, Psycho Greg there, just under the surface...
I would love an extended version with the reality version from Greg’s POV
me too! More man children!!
"Meet the Pyro"

@@pauldavis5665Lol, now that you mentioned it, it made me remember in Puss in Boots when Jack Horner accidentally shot his men with unicorn horns as they popped into confetti
Thanks for the existential horror VLDL.
@Uzair Knight A little bit of Existential Horror never hurt or killed nobody......
@@LtHarkness187 But the existential horror put many to permanent sleepies. So, so many.
@@JasonW. All part of the game, at least it's certain.. As in they will repeat this to the end of all existence or untill the game goes hidden on a server that's trapped in time*(Where every nanosecond is 1Billion years in are time) *But it's 1Billions years every second trapped* possibly tortured & murdered & brought back to life for 1minute our time....Complex world **Complex's existential horror** EDIT ""I C where a little Existential Horror can now be "Existential Horror"
@@JasonW. Okay, referring to being killed as "permanent sleepies" is amazing and needs to be widespread.
I always loved how Chivalry II replaces decapitated heads with cabbages if you turn on "no gore."
We need more of this child safe mode questing series.
THIS IS THE EPIC NPC MAN I REMEMBER! I missed these types of videos so much! Poor Greg, being astonished by these strange adventurers doing these strange actions that make NO SENSE TO HIM. This is first season stuff, and still the best!
I agree! This is the first video in a very long time, where I found it hilarious! Their other videos are okay, but videos like this are the reason I started flowing their channel.
Me too. THIS is the content I subscribed for. :)
Agreed. I’ve mostly stopped watching it but I’m glad I watched this one. Videos like this is what got me watching this channel.
Pubg is how I found them.
Season 1 Epic NPC Man is how I fell in love with this channel.
