On Tuesday, Devendra Banhart asked me to play a few songs that night at a star studded charity show at the Lodge Room here in Los Angeles. I asked Ellie to join me to sing some of our heartbreakers. But when i picked up the guitar to practice, this funny, sad, but NON AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL song started coming to me.
We played a rough version of it that night, and the next day I did an instagram live and played some of it. Will Maxwell, who works at this great studio in Glendale called Silent Zoo was watching and reached out about working on the track with me. He even sent me a demo of what he was thinking it could sound like. I loved it. The studio wasn't available so will came over Thursday night and we bashed it out in my garage, just the two of us. A really fun way to end the year!

Most Nyquils do actually contain DXM! Just got over a bad flu and I passed the hell out taking em lol.

Unfortunately I'm wildly allergic to DXM and we found that out the hard way one time when we drank several bottles and my eyes swole shut. Ever tripped while having a severe allergic reaction? 🤌 Highly recommend it. I've never actually partaken in NyQuil, though I was an addict for many years. Never quite was a fan of classical deleriants.

I think the true beauty of an artist is how believable their art is. Tim makes ridiculous comedy but is also talented in such a way where I could imagine teenage Tim getting on high on cough syrup with his crush and this being a song about a real moment.

The simple solution was to heat up that cold medicine. That's the crazy part.
The Ramones were known for their song “Now I Want To Sniff Some Glue” but the b side to that was “Vicks Vapor Rub” . The song preaches about the aromatic therapy and healing powers of the menthol ointment. The 7” inch could be purchased over the counter along with Vicks Vapor Rub at Walgreens in 1976. A vinyl record that was low in production and is hard to find.
