I like that this band has a singer who dresses classically, a punk pianist, a modern bassist and a futuristic synth player

I'm from Portugal. I don't speak a word of russian, but hearing this song gives me an enormous sense of melancholia and nostalgia. Music is the most magical thing in the world, allowing all of us to travel and empathize with people we've never met. Thank you Oleg for this. This song doesn't have any deep meaning. If you didn't notice it has subtitle.

@@foxmulder3785I don't think that this song has "no meaning", it has a rather hidden meaning.
I think people of this time were eagerly awaiting the new spirit of optimism under Gorbachev's glasnost and perestroika. The culture in the Soviet Union has never been as open and free as it was then, and the song expresses that spirit very well in my opinion, even if the words may seem rather trivial to you.

@@scrub_jay It could be. I was thinking a similar thing. Looks like they've gone through the effort to mic the bass amp, though I can't see a cable for the actual instrument lol. Also, no visible leads from either synth. Could be wireless or very savvy cable management but I'm thinking that in 1987 it was unlikely. Perfect example of the translation of human emotion, although I cannot understand the words... Lo and behold, beautiful lyrics.
I count about 25 things that I love, in this video.
Voice, synths, thin visor glasses, mustache, tropical casualwear, the bass, printed wall art, digital decay fade in transition, cursive rainbow trail font, Captain Crunch shoulder tassles, broach instead of a necktie, sound guy with flight controller studio headphones, his reaction is the bestest, hardcore dudes feeling the beauty of this uplifting song, patience of applause until performance completes, '80's hair, being so lost in the song that you can't look at the audience, emotional soldiers/cadets,
Yamaha, Korg, women that don't have to continually scream, rock horns, that dude's hat, medals on leather jacket, ghost drummer, warlock from house slitheren with magic wand tricks, optimism.
Wow!!!

What a great voice.
Here are the English lyrics for those who wonder:
The steady course of my destiny
Night, sadness, and radiance of the soul
Moonlight and May rain
Holds the sky
The long age of my star
The sleepy gleam of earthly dew
Loud laughter and paradisal honey
Holds the sky
At dawn, voices call me
At dawn, voices call me
The light of the sun and the sound of the heart
Shy glance and the power of hands
The starry hour of my dream
Holds the sky
At dawn, voices call me
At dawn, voices call me
At dawn, voices call me
At dawn, the heavens call me

He worked at the corner store where the rest of the guys bought their smokes, and whenever they came in, he'd always drop hints that he wants to play in their band ("oh you guys play synthpop? cool cool... y'know i play a little synth myself...")
In the lead-up to the band's tv debut, one of their synth players got cold feet and went AWOL. Luckily, Gord was available. He was ready. He knew all their songs. He closed shop for the afternoon and seized this once in a lifetime opportunity. What you see here is the happiest moment of his life.
