Drones = not the toughest Covenant enemy, but most annoying, and most ammo consuming
Nah, that would have to go to Hunters (In terms of Ammo consuming)
I really don't understand why. I've never had a problem with them.
DHG NightFall Hunter's are intimidating but are easy to take out although you need to be careful. If you know their attacks then you can easily dodge them and melee's to the back can take one out (more is required on harder difficulties). Just use grenades, heavy weapons and conventional weapons on the weak spots then just dodge and hit the second one, easy.
those are in game hunters they are much more stronger in the canon

Oh gosh, I can see it now... You're on the surface of a planet/installation in a future game. You kill a bunch of elites and Knights in an effort to clear an LZ. You now need to hold that position. In the distance you see something large flying towards you. It gets close enough to see... It's a combined army of drones, watchers, and sentinels... O_o

They're annoying on any difficulty but seeing them explode when you get a head shot in Reach is so satisfying.

ive always called em buggers. I have ever since i first heard a marine say it in Halo 2
I called the bugs, because I saw them In halo 3 and I heard a marine say bugger, but I thought he said bugs
I called them buggers aswell, it's hard to shoot them all unless you got needler on your side.
I called them roaches in halo 2 a marine yells roach- wings !!

No, those creatures are called Kryn'qodon, not Yanme'e. Drones are more intelligent and aggressive.

Huge flock of drones + chain gun/plasma cannon = No problem
Huge flock of drones + shotgun = hell
MrHaloWho *plasma pistol* = Going through Hell and back several times.
Faultiplayer Anything short-range or inaccurate is useless for fighting drones.
i wish it were that easy, on Legendary you eat a tornado of plasma the moment you start the animation to get into the turret
I wonder, if the Elites have different variants, could the Drones as well? Could we possibly see Beetle-like Drones or Drones resembling arachnids?

Drones aren't too annoying but when they're in massive groups they do start wasting your ammo a lot..

Jacob Weatherford I remember having to use human weapons to kill them, or the shotgun, they were pretty tough to kill, the sentinel beam was effective too

I actually really like drones- its a different type of enemy that is always a fun “surprise” when they come swarming out of vents from above or in a cave. Its a good way to spice things up with a flying enemy (not counting jetpack brutes/elites)

The Drones sure are annoying just like jackals, but that's kind of their whole point - they're bugs. I really miss them to be honest - they were an interesting breath of fresh air.

The Drones have one of the best stories in the Halo Evolution's book! Damn its so epic just thinking about it right now.
Honestly, I think they got one of the best backstorys. Some went home and there planet wasn’t blasted by the Covanent. Good for them.

There is an 8th covenant species that is supposed I make a come back(can't remember the name but it was cut from halo 1). The specie shown in nightfall is not classified a member in the covenant .

There are 8 species within the Covenant, we already have eight and we don't need another alien race...
We have the:
1. San'Shyuum
2. Sangheili
3. Lekgolo
4. Huragok (most)
5. Yanme'e
6. Kig-Yar
7. Unggoy
8. Jiralhanae
I tried to go in order, but I don't know when the Huragok, Yanme'e, and Kig-Yar joined the Covenant.

The drones in Halo 2 during the wait for the elevator on the orbital MAC gun _(playing legendary)_ caused hundreds of screams of agony...from me. Still have nightmares.

really? I found them no more than cannon fodder. worse than grunts even. the only time they were really a threat was in halo ODST when they had a slight buff.
Halo Zero Even on legendary their only one shot's if you can get their heads. But to be fair I'm a really good shot.

In crows nest in halo 3 there are a BUNCH of these drones. Even though they only have plasma pistols, they are so annoying in that mission. They can fly and come in like a pack of 20.

On the next lore you have to do the tiers of technology for the people who dont know with some examples like tier 3 was what humanity was at during the human covenant war... with more details of course

Yanme'e are best put down with the suppressed M7 a few controlled bursts and they fall from the sky, not hard to kill but can be deadly if your not ready for them.
what i liked about them is that it forced you into changing strategies to deal with, in the same way i like that the brutes enter a berserk state and you have to quickly kill them before they melee you to death
i actually miss the drones, i think it would be cool to fight large sized ones aswell with maybe dual weapons.
I'd like to see a vid on the history of the Jiralhanae (Brutes).
I once stuck one in halo 3 and, just like a grunt, it went into its allies and the spike grenade took half of them out.

the best protection against drones is the MANURE Armour Chris designed it himself im so proud of him.
+HaloFollower there was a part in Halo Reach that bug me.... at the mission where you fly your first Falcon in and its your job to destroy enemy jammers well this marine was going crazy saying how the drones was going inside his teammates head and that the marine afterward became one of them dont know if he was just crazy or the drone have some type of mind control power

I recently started a new account on my 360 and had to go back to ODST for the firefight achievements (200,000 FF score on each map) and the drones are the only thing that can mess up my otherwise flawless system of carbine + rockets/laser making me go back and fight my way through a half dozen brute jumpers just to grab a smg

in my opinion they were the most unique covenant units, save the hunters, do to the nature and just random times they'd appear

It's not the fact that his speech is so blatantly bad that we can't understand it, but it's that if you are going to be in a situation where you are speaking publicly, we would hope you can pronounce the words you are saying so we don have to decipher what you are saying

I read on the wiki that the drones are one of the only species that the flood cannot consume due to the lack of calcium in their exoskeleton or something like that.

+JITCY9107 Yeah, Hunters and Drones can't be controlled and infected by Flood. Bur they still can get attacked and killed by them.

My favorite tactic against the drones is using an SMG, holding down the trigger, and shooting them left to right.
I find them EXTREMELY frustrating in Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike,
they have almost no health, but will shoot at you until you kill them.
