Awesome video. Replaced my clutch but now i have a problem with kick start gear. Idk what im doing wrong. Installed it how it came out. Kick start is stuck. Dont move. Lined up the dots on gear. Springs are on. Idk??? No videos on kickstart gear. Cr85
The Honda kickstarters have timing marks you have to line up. They are a little hard to see but they are on the case side (so underneath when installed). Might be the problem. Unfortunately I dont have a video of that particular one.
Idler gear is meshed with clutch basket. All the way back. I can pull on shift mechanism with clutch on and it comes off the “hat”. (If thats what thats called??
@@RCbasheracer Ok I think I got the picture, the shift shaft is able to be pushed from the left side of the engine and it will have some play in it. Once you put the shift lever on it shouldnt be able to move enough to come off that 'hat'.
Just making sure but the output shaft is where the sprocket goes right ? And when you torqued the water pump drive gear what did you put the wrench on on the other side did you put it on the flywheel bolt ? I'm doing a clutch on my cr 85. Great video by the way it really has helped
Yes output shaft is where the chain sprocket goes. As for the water pump, put the side cover on the engine then simply screw on the impeller. The gear on the inside will not turn easily so you can torque it with no real problem (you may have to do the vicegrip thing on the output shaft again).
How tight do you make the bolts for the clutch springs? I have them snug all the way around. When I assemble and pull the clutch rod it never engages the clutch to shift. And the pin it in.
7-11 ft lbs, basically snug like you have them is normal. If you overtighten them they have a tendency to break off the aluminum clutch basket on older machines.
Hey bro my clutch isn’t engaging. I’m confused, I thought the “plunger” was supposed to be”disengage” the clutch when you pull in the lever? Seems like this does the opposite of what I see in the videos. I just ordered new plates and springs even though they look like they’re in good condition. Any feedback on why this may be happening would be greatly appreciated. I’m researching all videos and every forum I see with no luck.
Its possible your clutch plates are stuck together, only takes one to be stuck and you wont be able to release the clutch. I have a video on this exact issue " How to fix that stuck clutch " I believe is the title. It might be the issue and best of all its a free fix. Good luck.

Je l'ai serre à fond mais j'ai l'impression que c'est pour ça que lorsque j'appuie sur le levier d'embrayage, la visse plate du carter n'appuie pas.sur ce plateau (car trop serré)... Hi Starr, my french is very poor but with the help of google translate I pieced together what you are asking. Make sure you 'timed' the clutch cover properly, the lever part must be aligned properly or the clutch will not work. The correct way to do this is at the end of the video. Good luck.!!

@@starrpoof1498 5:35 shows the clutch lifter rod installation. It doesnt go into the bearings on the pressure plate. It goes into the case and when you engage the clutch it pushes the clutch pressure plate. Also yes that is the correct part number for the clutch lifter rod. Hope this helps.
Please if you can help. I just replaced the crank seal on the clutch side of my 05 cr85 and now the clutch doesn’t work, it feels like it’s engaging but doesn’t work and while in neutral the bike is still in gear. Any ideas?
That’s on right, I can feel I have clutch in the handle. The bike still is in gear even when it clicks in neutral which is making me think that something is stuck and shifting it isn’t doing anything but doesn’t make sense bc I didn’t split the case and mess with the gears
Hi there maybe you can help me the needle bearing and bushing that go with the clutch basket on my CR 85 are worn causing a nice grinding until I pull the clutch lever and then It goes away do you know where about I can find that bearing and bushing I can’t seem to find it anywhere
That bushing could be a tough one..as far as I know they cant be bought without buying a new clutch center.. $$. Best bet for finding parts is to get a parts diagram... Partzilla is pretty decent and usually my first step. If nothing else it should give you a part number to help begin your search. If a new center is a little steep for ya probably Ebay for a good used one. Can often find some treasures there. Good Luck !!

@@SchnebsGaragenow my shift shaft moves in & out 1/4”. It comes off that “hat” thing On shift mechanism. My shift lever moves in & out 1/4”.
@@RCbasheracer Sounds like your clutch hub isnt on all the way, make sure all the gears are meshing as you put it on.

Might be a dumb question but do you have to remove the engine to change the clutch or was that just for demonstration?
Was doing a bottom end rebuild so thats why its off the bike. Clutch can easily be done on bike.

look at 5:40 in the video, the button that goes in the clutch cover may be installed wrong.

Its 8 lbs for the4 bolts on the clutch.

On some bolts, typically anything threading into aluminum will lock itself in.
