Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos Fully Opened With 80KMH Speed Limit After Extensive Renovations

  • The 3rd Mainland Bridge in Lagos was fully opened on the 4th of April 2024 after extensive repairs was done on the bridge.
    The Newly 11.8km third Mainland Bridge was officially opened by Mrs. O.I Kesha, controller of works, Lagos state representing the Minister of Works. David Umahi and the Commissioner of transportation in Lagos state Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi.
    The new upgraded bridge will have solar streets lights, CCTV Cameras and speed limit device to restrict drivers from over spreading and to keep the facility secure.
    Though the bridge is not 100% done, the rest of the works on the bridge can continue without obstructing traffic flow on the bridge.
    The repair works on the bridge will be fully completed by May 2024 and it will be commission by Mr President. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

      Traffic is not caused by the speed limits on this bridge but by the heavy inflow cars going the same direction on this bridge at rushed hours, secondly traffic is caused by the bottle neck on some part of the bridge where traffic converge to a reduced lane, it is also caused by commercial buses loading and unloading passengers and accidents too.
