Akwa Ibom is NOT a City it is a STATE in South South Nigeria with several cities.eg the City of Uyo which is the capital of the state. There is the city of Ikot Ekpene (oldest Local Government in West Africa),The City of Eket(where all the Oil companies are),etc! But thank you for Showcasing our beautiful state. We have a very kind and active governor Pastor Umo Eno whom we fondly call Unku Golden who is making amazing strides in every area via the Arise Agenda. He's building more roads, revamping the schools, the healthcare system, the agricultural sector, housing for the homeless, improving opportunities for the disabled, etc to name a few.Proud to be an Akwaibomite🎉🙌👍

Yes, I believe we are in agreement, Bigwillz. My main concern, from an outsiders prospective, was that I've too often seen these beautiful areas be overdeveloped without regard for preserving the natural landscape. There's nothing wrong with people wanting to make the best use of the natural assets available, but too often developers, unchecked, will overdevelop the very asset they wished to exploit. Developers sometimes let making money be their only concern.

That's why many of us still believe Nigeria should break up. Places like this WILL NEVER realize their full potential while still in Nigeria. That's why crude oil will never sustain Nigeria as the only mean of revenue. That's why other places will remain overcrowded and the resources overstretched. If we break up, the different countries will be able to discover their worth and their true potential and even compete developmental-wise, thereby facilitating rapid growth of these countries. It's important to understand the history of slavery. Before colonization, slavery was Africa's main economy. In the mid-7th century, the Arabs invaded Africa and spread Islam. They enslaved many Africans and transported them to the Arabian Peninsula via the Trans-Saharan slave trade route where millions of the men were castrated to prevent them from reproducing (that's why there are not that many blacks in the Arabian Peninsula). Some of these slaves were captured by force, while others were purchased from tribal chiefs in exchange for gold and other goods.
Centuries later, African tribal chiefs began selling slaves to European invaders (not colonizers, who arrived much later). It's worth noting that colonizers actually outlawed slavery.
I highly recommend a visit to the Badagry Museum in Nigeria if you are interested in learning about the history of slavery. It is worth noting that in addition to enslaving Africans, the Arabs also enslaved millions of Europeans during the Barbary slave trade. Interestingly, some of the descendants of those European slaves are now living in North Africa.

Donald Duke built Obudu Cattle Ranch.
      Not necessarily *renovate.
He's the progenitor of tourism in Cross River State and South South, Nigeria.
Successive Governors had the responsibility to maintain the facilities, but failed woefully.

This is beautiful. Thank you for sharing this part of Nigeria and its history with us all. We get saturated with videos and stories of mostly Lagos and Abuja. It's nice to showcase the beauty of our country in other regions. And yes, we need better preservation methods for all these precious artifacts.

My people As an Akwa Ibomite.. pls the government must enact laws to protect our people from losing their land and properties with no more land for sale .. it should only be for lease only including properties.. this would allow our people the indigenous to have a sustained income and if they miss a payment the property or land automatically returns to the indigene.. case in point in high tourism area across the world there is no property ownership it is on a 20 yr lease bases.. pls get together and arrange programs to guide the government so our people do not sell everything becoming homeless and gateman to no non indigenous people , group or business. Much love from Akwa Ibom American from Texas USA. Akwa Ibom nyin ayaya tutu!

Yes, tourism should not be mistaken for degrading the natural beauty and pristine nature of the area. Indigenous people ought to be careful not to become a case like Hawaii.

@@Bedtime-storiestimeobviously you’ve never been to a tourism area anywhere in the world. If u don’t know something keep quiet. I travel and live not only in USA but Asia and Middle East .. tourism areas leave the locals in poverty because they lose property and land to commercialize company all for money while the locals lose out because they companies then won’t pay you a decent wage! I know what the hell im talking about . When you are ignorant remain silent especially when you don’t travel out of Nigeria Africa.. Europe America or Asia . I know the cost of this so called tourism.
