Auto start/stop is a feature I absolutely LOATHE on cars.
If it could just be off by default we'd all be happy
I have a 2019 Limited Forrester and immediately turn this off whenever I start it. I find it annoying, and also have questioned myself if it does wear down the ignition system over time.
I'm a new product specialist for Subaru and I love this video! The Subaru's definitely have some interesting features and confusing symbols but I think the best way to explain it is all lights that are orange on the dash meant something is actively wrong or passively faulty in the vehicle system so it makes sense its in yellow/orange
Always so helpful. Thanks!
I have heard that you can put a dummy trailer plug in if you have a tow bar & it keeps the auto stop off ?
This is a feature that no one wants and hardly does anything for gas mileage. Besides this feature wears the engine faster and all the money that you save on gas will just get spent on repairs.
The Prius is almost 20 years old and their engine blocks r reliable despite frequent engine restarts. UPS diesel truck engines don't care either.
@Jake Waite yeah because batteries are amazing for the environment too. Ride a bicycle...
when driving around with the feature "on", should I see anything? i mean, does the green "A" only come on when the engine shuts off while stopped, or should the green "A" always visible while driving?
I like the feature, but my 19 Forester seems to only turn the engine off at maybe 25% of the long stops i make. a little frustrating.
This and other reasons is why I got a 2018 FXT Touring in October. Bigger brakes, sportier suspension, turbo engine and very quiet. I traded in my 2014 FXT and the 2018 is much more refined than that one. I smile every time I drive.
Roma12, I have a 14 XT and my oldest daughter may get it this summer. I’m curious in what ways the 18 XT is more refined?
@@jeffr.3464 So, the Eyesight system has been updated. Color cameras with more depth perception. Lots more sound proofing. My 2014 FXT was pretty loud on the highway... couldn't use the stereo speakers with phone. 2018 is much more quiet. Many little things: lights in mirror visors, C-Style headlights, memory seats, auto up-down for driver and passenger windows, piano black and leather inserts in door and dashboard, nicer wheels, silver stitching throughout. That's just some of the items. Mechanically, they retuned the transmission, better steering ratio and new steering wheel, Active Torque Vectoring. Better entertainment system and navigation (the 2014 was horrible except for the sound). I was hesitant to upgrade to the same vehicle until I took a 2018 FXT for a test drive last summer. Put in an special order (none in stock so ordered from Japan) and got the vehicle in late September. All this plus $2000 in accessories for the same price as my 2014. Very happy with my Foz (did some additional upgrades: rear sway bar, LED everywhere, inside and out, tinted windows, etc.). Check out cars101.com. You can compare models and years.
Roma12, thanks for the great detailed answer.
@@jeffr.3464 Good luck!
THANK YOU. Was struggling to find out how to shut it off. So easy.
What kind of Subaru hat you wearing? I’m looking for that one.
So I test drive a forester a couple days ago so I was driving and I notice that they RPM didn't dropped that meaning the car was still idling right ? Does it show on the RPM when the car shuts off at a stoplight?
I’ve started using this feature more this week as a test of its supposed benefits. The engine seems to stop and start smoothly on mine. The starter is responsive as I lift my foot from the break pedal.
As far as turning off the feature every time the car is started, I find it no more annoying than releasing the parking break or turning on the radio. Just something to get used to. I do get frustrated when I forget, but that’s on me not the manufacturer. Every new car takes some getting used to no matter what features it has even if you like those features.
My 2 cents.
It's bunny huggers like you that cause this safety nonsense in the first place.
@@jiggs49us You infer too much! I don't like bunnies, let alone hugging them! Seriously, I did not state whether or not I liked the feature let alone welcome it. I certainly was not part of its cause. Getting used to something is not the same as liking it. In fact, that one has to get used to something often implies dislike at least on some level. I rarely use the feature now that I live in a less populated area and turn it off as soon as I remember to do so. It's completely unnecessary. But it's there, so I adapt.. No need for the ad hominem attack. Have a nice day.
What year did they implement this wonderful technology?
I would prefer to be able to have the default off. The location of the buttons does require taking my eyes off the road. Not a feature I would want.
So there's already a recall for a steering issue?
I don't like or use this feature and they should make a way to turn it off indefinitely.
Absolutely! When you turn it off, it should stay off.
@Reel-Lentless How? I have a 2020
@ekim andersom The fact you have an option to turn it off means the emission argument is irrelevant
@ekim andersom - Did you also account for environmental damage due to having a larger, heavy duty battery, starter motor, engine wear & tear, A/C working harder? I bet you didn't.
Other vehicles also have the auto start / stop feature, but the selection does not reset every time you start your vehicle. Subaru, just have the last selected status remain unchanged until the operator presses the button to change it. Then everyone can set it as they desire, and you won't be losing customers. A simple program change will fix the problem.
Yes, that sure would be nice. Definitely a minus with Subaru
I'm okay with this feature after understanding it due to this guy's video
Thanks so much. Just bought a 2019 Forester. Love the car, but the manuals stink. Fortunately, videos like yours are extremely helpful!
Thanks Bob, glad we could help.
Agree. All manuals from all car manufacturers are horrible. Definitely have to rely on internet to go straight to any concern I have.
Thought I read somewhere to permenently disable, disable the defroster timer in touchscreen. Anyone confirm this works?
I bought an SSA (Start Stop Automatic) module on eBay. This little module (with 3 cables) connected with the Auto Start/Stop hard button takes over my physical button push electronically and switches this crap simply off after every engine restart. It works fine. Best you can invest.
czcams.com/video/ytv_O9wAMCw/video.html
beautiful hands!
As you pull up to a stop, turn the steering wheel a few degrees off centre and the engine will keep running. There must be a sensor that doesn't allow it to turn off if it thinks it is going around a corner. Doesn't need to be turned a lot.
Is that a Miller Lite?
Which button do you press to turn it off
This feature is beyond annoying & my 2015 Forester gets better mileage than my 2019. We didn't notice it on the short "test drive" when we bought the car.
The salesman probably through a slight of hand, disabled it when you werent looking.
My new Subaru Forester Touring stutters when the it shuts down using the Auto Start / Stop Feature, and then again when it starts up. Is that normal, or is there something I can do to keep that from happening? I like the feature in general, but not the stuttering.
If it feels like junk when new, imagine how it will shudder when it has 30,000 miles. Bad technology.
What I did to disable start/stop is on rear defrost setting (which turns off after 15 minutes) I changed it to run continuously .................
If you come to a stop smoothly, ie releasing the brake as the vehicle comes to a stop, the engine will NOT stop unless you put further pressure on the brake. Then, any release of pressure on the brake will re-start the engine so you can get ready to move off. If you want to remove the feature entirely I believe the Subaru dealership can do that. I leave mine on and, the way I drive the motor never stops unless I want it to by pressing the brake harder and holding it pressed. I only do this when I am waiting at a train crossing for example. (long wait) So my opinion is it IS a good feature but I don't know about excess wear on the starter motor. I have proved it does save petrol though. Time will tell.
This feature has been used in Europe on other vehicles for many years and now mandatory. My 2019 Outback has it. No big deal. Starter motors etc are beefed up and starting a petrol engine once warm is no big deal either. Slight difference with the UK spec is that it shows you how many miles extra you are getting when the engine is off, not how much fuel you are saving. When I traffic with my WRX STi you literally here the engine drinking fuel at idle 😂
But it does not run smoothly. Nearly had a heart attack when it felt like it was dying then lurching at a red light. It shouldn't run like that.
I notice you have a camera attached to the windshield.
Does that make Eyesight not work properly ?
Would like to add a dash cam but have not done so
because of Eyesight.
Doesn't interfere
I’m worried that this feature wastes gas and damages the engine and starter. I do wish I could turn it off permanently.
Agree
You ca buy something to permanently turnvthis feature off...someone mentioned in the comments.
Wonder why they always ask if you can turn off that button
I own 2020 outback. Everytime i turn off the start stop function, brakes, steering wheel, and gas seems to become stiffer. Anyone else ?
I just started leasing a 2020 Forester Sport. The one thing I truly hate is the Stop/Star thing. Aside from the annoyance at stop lights, no matter what they say, constantly turning on and off can not be good for an engine.
Yes, I discovered this by accident! Subaru isn't the only automaker doing this, most seem to be going in this direction.
I own the 2019 Subaru Sport edition, and I am planning on getting rid of it as soon as I can because I HATE THE AUTO START/STOP and I am tired of pressing a stupid button an average of 20 times a week. It is going to damage my starter, it makes it difficult for me to accelerate out of a incoming object from behind if it were to happen, it takes over an hour to save half a gallon of fuel, the battery is going to cost more to be able to store additional energy, the acceleration in stop and go traffic is sometimes jerky (possible damage to the transmission). I'm sure I am missing other reasons, but rant over for now.
This is a terrible and annoying "feature," and they should allow the owners to turn it off forever if they want.
Totally agree, worst feature of my forester! I have never meat a single soul that liked the auto-stop-start. More wear and tear on starter & engine = more $ for repairs WHICH does not outweigh the milliliters or ounce of fuel/1000 miles you save. HATE HATE HATE this feature!
Fortunately, if you invest $90+ and 10 minutes you can install a dongle under the seat to have it retain the last on/off setting. Look it up since they don’t pay me for endorsement
@@jtwu8931 Autostop eliminator. They don't pay me either but there is one under my driver seat.
@@whidbeyhiker4364 let’s hope it won’t radiate anything
So you enjoy making unnecessary pollution
Can you turn off the lane departure warning
Yes, same row of buttons for turning off stop/start.
I just got myself a 2020 forester . This is one feature that is honestly annoying ! I can do without and should be able to turn off completely. I hope this one create bigger problems in the feature when it shuts off and stays off and then your forced to turn on. It’s an inconvenience
I noticed in the video that when you were turning the auto stop start off while driving you had to reach down and find the correct button. You turned on another before you located the correct one. This has happened to me and I think Subaru did not think this through in their design.
Also because it defaults to start, when I am making several stops doing errands, I have to constantly remember to turn it off. I do not like this "feature".
Also my radio defaults to "on" when I start my 2019 Subaru Forester. Any help?
Barbara, before you shut your car off, press your radio volume control in for more than 2 seconds. The screen, along with the radio, will turn off. It will be in the same state when you turn it back on.
Barbara Canning yes I just bought one the button placement is not very well thought
You can't turn the radio off either. Love the Crosstrek, but those are two dumb and annoying features.
@@michaelbean5312 Yes, and rub your belly, pat your head and say your mantra....all will be well when you return to your car. Could it be any 'stupider'?
Doesn't it wear out the starter?
I hate this option just traded my 18 in on the 19 when the engine turns off it almost feels like the motor falls out the car vibrates so hard but other than that complaint I love the car
Test drove it at the auto show and had the same problem; the engine shuttered almost violently to a stop. We liked the car but didn't like the way the auto stop/start system reacted. Still hoping that Subaru adds the 2.4 turbo as an option on the 2020 model year. Worth one more year of waiting.
wind7sailor yeah we will prolly trade up again too kinda wish we would have keep the 18 to me it had more options
I have a 14 Malibu and it stops and starts smooth but when it restarts the screen goes black and Bluetooth disconnects. It’s so annoying. I would be happy pushing a button to disengage it every time as mine has to option for that
@@ericabertagnoli5469 I hear you man just annoying when your not use to that thanks for the comment we still love our Subaru my wife always says how good it looks and how she loves it thank we will keep this one
@@whiterhinooutdoors4572 yea I know people knock Chevy but so far other than that it’s been a ok car. When the auxiliary battery dies I’m just not replacing it lol I can handle a check engine light on l. In the meantime I’ve learned to be light footed on the break and it actually doesn’t go off that often. It’s more sensitive in the summer but luckily I’m in Wisconsin so there’s only a couple months where it’s gets super hot.( anything over 80 is super hot to me l lol). I’m actually saving to get a Forester so glad to hear you like yours. Apparently cars of every make has issues with the start stop.
When you start you car, isn't that a higher emission rate then when idling? I worry about wear and tear on the starter??? I think I would turn it OFF.
Should be easy to control by brake. Just push pedal slightly, so the car stays still and it won't shut down the engine.
Adventure Forester I have a feeling it works like this in my Outback MY18
Jake McCoy, I live in Poland, Europe :-)
I was blasting the heat today and forgot to disable the start stop and it almost shut off the fan for my heat completely
I got a doubt. You say that the system doesn't work above 10000 feets. I live in Bogotá there is a 8500 feets approx, and the system doesn't work. Why happen this?
My dealer say the system doesn't work above 5400 feets
yeah this feature just scared us abit today, I've only owned my 2019 Subaru forester for a week I must of accidently changed something went to drop my wife back to work after lunch and the car stopped so I put the car in park and restarted it we looked at each other what the hell happen is our new car a lemon, then I drove on stopped at some lights it happen again then I remember seeing something in regards to auto stop start which the dealer failed to point out, so I can sleep at night knowing our car is not a lemon
The 2019 Forester starter is rated for 82,000 starts. That's 22.4 starts per day for 10 years!
By the looks of it, your grammar and sentence structure could use a "start-stop" feature!! Lol.... run on sentences, dude.
It's almost like you've never heard of a hybrid vehicle before.
I wasnt told it was a thing either and I thought it stalled 14 seconds after I pulled off the lot with it.
@@johnnywaffles2482 they don’t tell you because no one would buy them then. I got my Malibu and they didn’t tell me either. Ive learned to be light on the. breaks.
Sorry for being pedantic, but Subaru dropped the 2.5i designation on all models going forward for simplicity sake.
I have the 2020 Forrester and I hate this feature… I try to remember to turn it off every time I get in the car but many times I forget and then come to the first stop and it shuts off… There should be a way to permanently shut this feature off if you don’t want it to use it
Yup. 2020 forester as well. It really annoys me
What if you remove the relay for auto shut off?
There is a proven work around by install a dongle to the can bus therefore the Autostop will default to the last setting when starting the engine. Much safer than shorting it
for the auto stop to activate you just need to press the brake pedal all the way down past a "biting point" (if the car allows auto stop at the time). you can also prevent the car from shutting off by not pressing on the brakes that hard and you don't even need to manually turn off the feature with the button. the only time i would use the button is if i had the AVH on because i would need to step on the brakes past the "biting point" in order to activate AVH and this would cause the car to shut down most of the time which is pretty annoying if you are in stop and go traffic
I don't think a lot of people know about this technique. This is also true with the Ford Start Stop. When I pull up to a light and know it will turn green in seconds or I'm in stop and go traffic, I won't fully press down on the brake which keeps the engine idling.
Kurt the cat also on the forester if u have ur steering wheel turned like 1/4 or more then the system won’t activate. same with on any hill that requires u to step on the brake hard enough to typically activate start stop.
there are many ways to bypass this system without having to press the button. people just need to adjust their driving technique as i’ve never felt the need to ever hold the brake all the way down on a flat surface
Yes, it's the same in the Ford. What I really enjoy most about start/stop is the short peace and quiet of the engine turned off. I find a lot of the resistance to start/stop interesting and irrational. 1) I can sort of understand why people don't like it because as long time drivers, we are conditioned to panic when the engines turns off at a stop. As we get used to it and new drivers start driving with this technology, start/stop will become a non issue. 2) The other common argument is the wear and tear on the engine. Start/Stop technology has been around now for 10 years and engineers are well aware of this and have built engines to compensate for the start/stop.
Agreed, most cars just need a gentle brake touch to hold at idle.
The location of that button bank is the most stupid feature of an otherwise amazing vehicle
Agreed. Subaru should have put the button on the steering wheel.
Rob, Is there no way permanently turn off this annoying feature? Thanks
Wish they would let you turn it off permanently but unfortunately not

Hmmm... I'm in the research phase of getting a new car and this "feature" is making me rethink this Subaru, which is currently on my list. I do not like that feature and I'm very disappointed you cannot permanently disable it.
The car runs incredibly stupidly. I would not have gotten this car if I'd known about this feature. Bought it undriven because of the pandemic and I liked my 2015 Forester. This, however, is a game-changer. Terrible feeling of shudder and lurch in stop and go traffic. Hate it, hate it, hate it.
Disliked the feature at first. 2 weeks later, it doesn’t bother me too much. I’m starting to like the quiet moments at stops. For a few moments, everything seems to decompress inside me.
Remember what Henry Ford said about the Model-T? The customers can have any color they want, as long as it's black. Today the auto manufactures are saying the customers can have any features they want as long as it's the features WE want them to have. Like it or not, they now dictate the terms. Just wait until we get self-driving cars.
I think most people already know that it can be turned off by a button as that is the first thing one needs to figure out when you first get the car. The question we all have is how to you make it be off by default so you don't have to press that damn button every time you start driving. Very annoying. I will MUCH rather save my engine and starter motor than save a tiny bit on gas.
The first thing I do is turn this EPA mandated trash off. There are aftermarket modules that turn this off automatically. I'll probably get one. F the EPA.
I freaking HATE stop start. Wears out innumerable components in the hopes of saving 0.001 gallons per year. Pointless. I expected more from Subaru. Like, perhaps offering a Turbo engine in place of the under-powered wheezer currently installed.
It's more about the emissions savings and the cars are designed to handle it. They have the wiring systems changed and more robust starters and batteries.
@@GroovesubaruDenver Perhaps, but stop / start appears to be the answer to a question nobody asked. Much annoyance for minimal, if any, gain. Just more to go wrong. BMW had it, but could be disabled by a button under the starter. Once pressed it was off for good. A superior idea. Subaru's off button is buried with 7 or so other identical ones.
The Prius has been doing it for 20 years, engine doesn't care about frequent starts/stops. Subaru starter is probably beefed up, battery is AGM.
@@GroovesubaruDenver This is BS and the cars suck now. I've had 2 previously 2007, 2015. Loved them, that's why I got my 2020, no test drive because of the pandemic. I want my old car back.
I hate the clunk/pop sound the break pedal gives with the stop start on. Quite annoying
Will never buy a car that has that feature,..ever!!
You're not only one who isn't buying one for only this reason: expensive battery, heavy duty starter, engine wear & tear, hesitation, difficult to diagnose when engine shuts off due to a problem, etc.
Good luck if you’re buying a new car anytime soon… Most all of them are starting to add the start stop feature… The Honda CRV now has it
I'm with you. I'm interested in getting a Forrester eventually as well but I will NOT buy a vehicle that has this horrendous feature.
At least you have a button to disable it. I have a 2014 Malibu and there is no way to disable it. Just spent 250 dollars on a battery (not including labor and taxes) I will be getting rid of it ASAP
Only thing I hate about my 2019 forester.
Any of these newer crossovers or SUV's have this annoying feature, except for Honda CRV I believe. hmm.
(and on the Chevy's, you can't even opt to turn that feature off!)
OMG! Chevrolet have the ASS in them now too? Crap. In a few years this is going to kill so many people, because of stalled vehicle accidents. We need to make sure that is understood now, so the manufacturers cant claim that it was unforseen when they installed them. As much as I do not like lawyers, I want them to be able to take the manufacturers to the cleaners on this.
Chevy was one of the first manufacture to implemented this features
Reduces emissions by "quite a bit?" I would prefer to see this messed up feature omitted from the Forester until it can be perfected to the point that it reduces emissions by "a real shitload."
Account for environmental damage due to heavy duty battery, starter motor, engine wear & tear, A/C working harder due to cycling. Synchronize traffic lights using tech from 1950's rather than Auto SS and save much more fuel, avoid running lights etc.
Yes, this would have to do much more than this to warrant the utterly terrible ride it gives now.
Everyone hates auto start/stop. And the reviews I've read indicate that Subaru's system is the absolute worst. The engine restart is very rough with their horizontally opposed engines. I would never buy a car with this annoying feature.
Love my car so I just turn this off each time I get in car. Would I prefer it to be off all the time, of course but it just isn’t that difficult to start car and turn off feature.
2023 Crosstrek. Pop the left lower dash, pull the connector off the ASS switch. Viola!
I have a Mercedes Benz and you barely even notice it. I think that's how it should be integrated. If you notice it then it's not very good integration.
To benefit the EPA numbers for manufacturers was its' only purpose. The BS line they are using more Heavy Duty Parts.... mechanics that work on these generation Vehicles will tell you exactly how bad it is long-term for the engine
This was a terrible idea. Starters are not heavy duty enough to be started and stopped 20 times a day. I permanently disabled it in all my vehicles.
Stop/start I turn my off all the time-useless option$$
Thank God this can be Permanently disabled!
Found the way on another channel.
Do you have a link, I hate this feature!
What the fuss guys? It behaves like a hybrid in a sense.
Very bad feature in the 2019 Forester. Because of this I will be leasing a Toyota RAV4.
The Rav4 hybrid is nice , 39MPG and auto start/stop isn't obtrusive at all because the electric motor propels the car initially.
The shuttering to a stop and rough restart was a real turn off during a test drive at the auto show. I really hope they can improve and reduce that shuttering off.
@@jancromie2151 The Forester auto start/stop?
Only part of my car that I hate
This is NOT a "feature". it's a bug.
Subaru can join Ford in a few years when these vehicles with ASS start stalling in traffic, and the they have to defend themselves from the inevitable lawsuits resulting from accidents involving stalled vehicles. These vehicles will not stay new and well mantained forever. In the years to come, they will be stalling out at intersections, because their engines will not restart. Just as Ford suffered from the perception, true or not, that people died because they wanted to save $14 on the manufacturing cost of a Pinto, so will they suffer when people die in stalled car accidents. Lawyers will sue Ford (and now Subaru) for creating the ASS to get around CAFE standards, so they could build "huge, gas guzzling trucks" and make more money (not that lawyers care about money themselves). The ASS is hard enough to defend. Making the default "enabled" despite the driver turning it off last time they drove will be indefensible. Please, please manufacturers consider longer time spans than the next couple of quarters. These shiny new cars of today will become the accidents of tomorrow. Cars normally will not start in a driveway or parking lot effecting no one but its occupants. In years to come, your cars when they wont start, will 9 times our of 10 be in a lane of traffic.
Glad I got the 2018. I'll never buy a car with this feature no matter how great the reviews. If Subaru retains this feature, I'll never buy another. By the way, on other makes, get the tow hitch and install a dummy trailer plug. Will defeat the feature.
I have been thinking of this too. I bet it would work on the Fozy
This is a feature that is slowly being forced on the buying public......regardless if we like it or not.
No gas caps too. Reason? So your hands don't smell like gas... uhh what about the gas pump? They're in the process of destroying internal combustion engines!
Get rid of it! Could be deadly if car can't join traffic
shut it off for good !!!!!!!
I rather have a cvt than the auto stop start.
"Auto Start Stop" is a Terrible idea to sell more starters and is a Terrible idea to add with such great vehicles by Subaru.
Its more dangerous at jumping onto high speed highways because your vehicle takes around 1sec to start up again to initiate acceleration, therefor having around a 1sec lag to jump into traffic.
You cant pre turn your steering wheel at a stop because "Auto Start Stop" turned off your power steering.
Your air conditioner also turns off due to "Auto Start Stop", youll just have the fan blowing.
The vehicle settings doesnt let you permanently turn off "Auto Start Stop", it turns back on automatically after you start up your car again. Therefor you have to turn if off every time you start your car if you want it to be off.
Gas usage at idol barely uses any gas, so whats the real reason why they added this Auto Start Stop feature? You be the judge.
I hate this feature and Subaru will not give you the option of having it turned off permanently. It should not be that difficult since it seems to be a software change, nothing to do with hardware. This is an annoying feature. We bought a new 2020 Outback, our third Subaru, and this will be our last. The start/ stop feature is not the only badly designed feature on this car.
And over time you will need to replace the starter. I HATE THIS !
Terrible feature that puts excess wear on the engjne, starter, and battery. Would not recommend it to anyone. Your car will use less gas at idle for that ten seconds as the the stop light than it will starting the engine again.
Stopped listening once you said it couldn’t be forever turned off..
It’ll save nothing in five years time, when you need to fit your 5th starter motor when your car is out of warranty. These things are just a pointless nuisance.
In the past 3+ years that I’ve had my forrester I bet I have saved a whopping 2 quarts of gasoline. I hate this feature.
Hate that auto off on my Subaru.
VERY annoying feature. Who needs more buttons to think about and turn on and off? I'd have not bought the car had I known about this
At least you have a button to turn it off. I have a Malibu and there is no way to turn it off
The fact that it defaults to always on is a terrible design and the reason I won’t be buying another Subaru. It’s an annoying feature with more negatives than positives.
What a dumb feature.
The auto start -stop rattles like a tank..... Needs work.... Feels unrefined. Other mfg have executed this so much better.
Mine doesn't have any rattles.
Yes smooth here
When my AC is on it rattles. When AC is off it turns on smooth.
What a stupid feature. New cars suck
The auto Stop/Start system SUCKS
Will NEVER buy a vehicle with this feature 'on' by default! It uses more gas, not less, just driving around town with so many stops and restarts. Buyers need to be informed when they go to sell their used car, it will have less value because nobody wants this feature. And having driven one with it, I know it's not true, you do not "save quite a bit."
Another stupid feature from the Nanny State
Subaru auto stop SUCKS !!
if you absolutely hate this feature, buy HEV or BEV.
