- Maximus (Russell Crowe) uses his military skills to lead his team to an unexpected victory at The Colosseum in Rome.
Gladiator (2000) Commodus takes over power and demotes Maximus, one of the preferred generals of his father, Emperor Marcus Aurelius. As a result, Maximus is relegated to fighting till death as a gladiator.

As awesome as this scene is,I can't look away the fact that Russell Crowe is wearing a MF DOOM mask
The thrill of having fought for your life and winning under the cheers of others must be immeasurable.
The mask is perfect for stunt doubles, you can’t even tell but half the time MF DOOM is actually being portrayed by Russell Crowe.

Gotta love Proximo's laugh when they kill that last guy. Dude though he was gonna lose all his fighters and put him out of business, and they go turn it around to win the impossible. Dude was proud of his gladiators...
this MF Doom track looks sick
Maximus is depicted as a perfect leader. Still, I like the fact there were a couple of gladiators who chose NOT to follow him (Hagen between them). Then, they died or were forced to join the group in order to survive. Leadership is an inherent quality of the person but it's necessarily completed only after external circumstances

I love the scene where he throws the sword to maximus. It's so short but so powerful. It shows a friendship that only emerges between men with a common goal. They know what to do with such minimal words.
The Emperor is so funny. He should become Joker one day.

Maximus shows extraordinary leadership. Yes, he takes a "commanding presence", but he also positively encourages and compliments people around him throughout. HE shows a stern personality, but he is "warm" around his people. Perfect.
I had no father, but Maximus was my role model as a kid. This movie is epic.
2022 and I'm sitting here in absolute comfort watching a gladiator battle.
I appreciate the soldier who served with him, he never revealed his identity to the others.
Djimon Honsou deserved an award for his supporting role in this movie - his victory yell at the end of this battle gets me every time
