If Alienware won’t give you the slim brick they should at least give you the option to purchase it or upgrade it when making your purchase
The brick is ridiculous. I found some third party ones, but then I’m risking my $4000 laptop :/ Almost bought the x16 just because of that huge brick.

Since you tested the Alienware M16 and the Legion Pro 7i. Which one would you pick between the two?
I had one of the new Legion 9i and the ONLY thing it was good for was gaming and even then on regular balanced mode those fans run like crazy. It you wanted to alt-tab out of a game and watch something on CZcams good luck because there’s a loading time. Nearly a 5 thousand dollar laptop I ended up returning after 1 week of use. Never again will I get anything Lenovo
Interesting how similar or slightly worse X16 will perform, and whether the display will also be 300+ nits or actually better
If you are adding more SSDs to this something I found out is the laptop won't boot completely unless all the screws are done in. The chassis lights will turn on for a minute then the laptop will power down.
Wish the ssd cover was included on all the slots.
I tested two Alienware M15 R7’s and they also had an artificial wattage limit in place (65w). Can’t believe their command center is still this bad…

Maybe undervolting will be available if speedstep or dynamic tuning is disabled in bios?
New Bios came out , as of yesterday alien command center can tinker with cpu voltage and under voltage , GPU over clock etc , also it no longer hangs and launches by itself when you power on the labtop .

Just curious if your alienware M16 makes a electrical noise underneath the logo while charging? I have this problem on my new M16 so I feel a little anxious. The sound is faint and requires the ear to nearly lean against the keyboard to hear it, but sometimes it becomes very noticeable. But there was no noise when I turned it off and charge it or only used battery mode.

I just bought an Alienware m16 laptop that has lower specifications. It has a 13th Gen Intel Core i7 13700HX Processor and a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070. With this laptop, it has a 165 Hz, and which type of gaming monitor should I buy? Should I buy a gaming monitor with speakers that comes with a Thunderbolt 4.0, USB Type C Port, or Display Port connectivity? Should I buy a gaming monitor that has 165 Hz and above?

Also if you buy a monitor, make sure it is at least 144hz refresh rate, at least 1440p resolution, IPS panel or OLED panel, 300 cd/m^2 brightness and 100% sRGB colour
is there a 0 db mode (if yes they kick in immediately after watching a youtube video for example?) fans are quieter that on the scar 18 asus (considering it has 4 fans compared to 3 of the scar 18 ) ? thanks 👍

Vacuum and then air can to blow remaining dust out. If you can, try to hold the fan with your finger so it doesnt spin fast when using air can.

Any idea what DDR5 speeds the M16 will accept? Intel says the processor can handle 5600mhz but Dell is only offering 4800mhz. Are there any bios settings that can confirm increased clock speeds? I ordered the laptop based on this video thank you!

I was in the same boat. Ended up going for a maxed out m16 instead of the m18 or x16, because of availability. I wouldn’t have gotten the x16 before my upcoming trip :( Honestly my biggest gripe with this model is the HUGE charger

All my high-end Alienware's have boosted higher and held the boost.
if you lift it you will trigger laptop mode, that's why your PL1&PL2 turned into 55 and 68 when you were testing Cinebench R23

I'm sorry, what do you mean by "lift"? I have this same laptop and want to fix the underwhelming CPU perf.
@@RetroJaysFTW he means an accelerometer inside the laptop detects the laptop was physically moved and reinserts power limits, i believe

my m16 i7 13700k only peak at 117w and on average of 100w even if I use intel XTU and set the max voltage to 150/165/175 watts. at 100w the temperature is already at 100c.

Metal for most of it, rear end thing is plastic. Keyboard deck is also plastic.

Hi, I just discovered your channel. Which one of these 4 options would you choose if you were me? Dec. Asus Rog G16 Rtx4060 FHD 512 GB for $1400, Asus Rog G16 Rtx4060 2K QHD 1 TB for $1650, Alienware M16 Rtx4070 2K QHD for $ 1900, Dell G16 Rtx4060 2K QHD 512 GB.
Spend +$3k and start to fix all the problems with software by yourself - this is DELL experience
Great video!! But it really bugged me about having a mouse on the right side of the notebook, does it really get too hot?
Not super hot, but if you are in a already hot environment, like a house without AC it could be a bother
-The power key flashes between different colors while charging. When solid color means the battery is full. You can also customize the colors of full, charging, and low within AWCC.
-Mini DP will come in handy for anyone with VR, which the G18 does not have.
-You moved the laptop during the Cinebench test which kicked in protections for thinking the laptop may have been dropped during the first test and when running the 10 min test when the power dropped into the 60's. Your fault, not the laptop's fault. See, you got over 30K when you left the laptop alone.
-Don't think you will notice that much of a difference in the screen brightness unless you run games in HDR or are using the laptop outside in direct sunlight.
-There is one helluva delay between the audio in the game and when it comes through on the stream when you were talking to Prof. Weasley. Got better when talking to Prof. Ronen.

Well, don't excuse the mediocre display. This is hella expensive device and it has a display of a medium-tier laptop. Period. That's sad. For that price, it should be better.

I have not noticed any coilwhine so far... GPU seems better cooled. The CPU seems about the same/maybe slightly worse cooling. Hard to say for sure without testing them exactly the same.

Check my omen 17x review. I had that processor in that laptop. Thermals will be different from laptop to laptop, but the performance should be in the same ballpark

It is “safe” by intel standards. Reduce temps by increasing fans or lowering CPU power limits if you want lower temps and slightly less performance

With most laptops if u want them for life you have to set settings to “your” daily use. I overclock when I game and I change it back when I am browsing. I expect 5 years+ from this.

Didnt get burned too bad. My stuff has actually gone up like 50% in the last 6 weeks. But my plan was always to continue working.

@@GizmoSlipTech Oh man. I just installed it to configure my keyboard, it would only report the battery level like every 3rd time I'd checked it. Aside from that the function itself as was alright it was more the nature of the installation. Open your task manager and there's like 6 distinct processes running, go to your windows services and there was 4+ services, task scheduler had some entries, it installed folders in 6 separate locations throughout programdata, program files, appdata, root, all with vague names that couldn't identify it as related to armory. It installed various functions as separate "devices" in device manager. On top of that, the files/folders and text inside the app itself was riddled with typos and translation errors. Took me about half an hour of searching to completely clean uninstall all traces of it. All this for a bloody keyboard. It just seemed so amateur and bloated. Spread throughout my entire system like a virus. I would have expected this from a $30 wireless keyboard on alibaba from some unknown chinese company, but not from Asus.

Never buy a gaming laptop unless absolute necessary. You can build a decent pc for that price which can pull out more performance and gives you room for upgrades. I am personally owner of gaming laptop and fedup with constant dismantling and re assembling everytime i need to move be it for work or game. also its heavy

Do you want your gaming machine to be portable; check. Do you want a workstation that is portable; check. Do you want high performance within a constrained power envelope; check. I don't agree with "absolutely necessary" and desktops have their own downsides. I could just as easily take your comment and say; don't buy a computer unless it is absolutely necessary.
