    About the guns, it's soldiers on leave. Without uniforms, but carrying big guns. It's part of a stringent law to never leave your weapon unattended because it might be stolen or misused. The guns are not loaded, they need to take their magazines off at the military bases or they aren't allowed to leave. Gun laws are very, very strong in Israel.

      @proto-nm9hr Před 5 lety +55

      Chitresh Bhatt when i was on leave we always took one magazine with us . and i used to jack it in the magazine chamber but my rifle was never loaded but it scared the crap out of tourists never understood that i got so used to carrying a gun and seeing guns that its totally normal like carrying a smartphone.

      @EdenAckerman Před 5 lety +50

      and also there is a special part in the gun thats called MAC POREK which is another security aid so no accidents will happen.

      True, as an instructor and an ex senior officer In the IDF I confirm your statement
      There is no magazine in the rifle only on guard duty- and only in dangerous areas
      We take gun safety very seriously - no room for error -the gun MUST be on SAFE.
      you can get a court marshal for this offence if you don't check your weapon and even insert the magazine when it is not necessary - Maybe she should have put the gun in a different position I don't know I was not there but what I do know is that It's not better just to leave it aside unattended or something and having an Islamic terrorist grab it and empty the magazine onto the crowd. They were in eygpt before
      If anything they should feel safer here - Egypt is wayyyyy more dangerous to westerners!
      Good day friend, god bless you

    As an American now living in israel thought I'd pipe in. The gun safety is actually very serious. Those guns all had safety lock in, and no magazine. In other words they are just metal pipes while sitting.
    Every soldier is required to have their gun with them at all times and can't leave it unattended while off base for even a second. Part of the whole gun safety thing.
    Bus drivers are insane!
    Life is def expensive.

      I hope they carry magazines or have ready access to same or what is the point of carrying an unloaded weapon? I assume the former, since Israel is known as a safe country (because of the guns carried by soldiers rather than civilians)

Is not problem get a gun to people who have responsibility and training from compulsory military service as is at Switzerland and Israel, but a childs and idiots with guns in america are usual, in world is no other place with that common shool shooters (only comparable is PCR but its a Bilion of people, and its even there a American thought fenomen).

    Safety regulations improved drastically last few years, for one reasons due to mandatory safety plastic stick which can be seen sticking out of the middle of the barrel, and eliminates the option of having an unwanted bullet loaded inside. So, usually it's just a long metal stick, that you carry around.

    This is something most non-Israelis don't know, but despite the airport code being TLV, Ben Gurion Airport is not in Tel Aviv at all. The airport is actually situated in Lod, some 20 kilometers (12 miles I think) from Tel Aviv. That's why you needed to use a bus to Tel Aviv and why it took half an hour to get there- you weren't in Tel Aviv in the first place. Also, I agree, bus drivers are _insane,_ and yes it's comparatively quite expensive to buy food, but remember that Israel is a semi-desert in many places and many items are in fact imported.

    FYI, practically every Israeli does compulsory millitary service at the age of 18, 3 years for guys, 2 years for galls.
    We all got trained on using an assault rifle, in my time it was the Uzi and the M16.
    In most units, we don't get to take the rifle home on leave, unless you're in a front line combat unit.
    In the Air force I didn't get any weapon on leave.
    In basic training, the emphasis is on safety, safety and then safety. That means magazine OUT, chamber emptied and gun in safety at ALL times.
    If an IDF solder lost their gun, it could be up to 7 years in prison. That's why, every where you go, the gun goes with you.

The South is also very beautiful. And about the guns, we really do have strict gun laws and cautionary instructions. Soldiers who carry guns know what they're doing, although one can always take more cautionary steps. Hope you had a good time.

    Happy u visited our country.
    OK first the gun topic. I've noticed that a lot of Americans have issues with how many guns there are here and how casually we take care of them. Well just wanna calm u down. Safety is always on. The soldier has to remain in contact with the gun at all times therefore it is on the lap. No need to worry. Also it isnt loaded. All these people that have guns go through profiling and training.
    As for the prices, we are a young country with a growing economy but we are still trying to get up there and that is why things are expensive. Tel Aviv unfortunately is not the nicest city, but it's up and coming so that's cool to see. Hope u also tried some local food such as falafel and schwarma.

    In every Weapon a soldier carries you could see theres an orange thingy that is hanging inside the shaft where the shells get out , its actually a fake plastic bullet that even if the gun is loaded it wont shoot.

    As someone who is half Israeli and goes there every year to visit my family, I suggest you stay with a host that rents out their apartment instead of staying in a hotel. It’s a lot cheaper and there are a lot open for people to rent, I would know.

    Glad to see you are in Israel. I lived therr way back in 1974. I always felt safer seeing the israeli military carrying weapons. Btw when in public places they do not have the weapons loaded with bullets the magazine iscarried separately. Also Israel is a place with bad drivers but i would love to be there again.

    I have a weapon that is m16 short and it is safe, it has something orange / red called "MacPork" that blocks the chamber where the bullets come out of the weapon. The MkPorek, the orange plastic device, has long been used by the IDF's combat units, and a new directive by the Quality Control Department will require all units to move with McForek with every personal weapon. His job is to give a picture of the soldier and the commander that there is no bullet in the barrel.
    The advantages of MacPorek are the provision of indie
    It's always empty and for a bullet to come out there's got to be a cartridge inside. We will not be allowed to shoot without this permit for reasons of caution. personally I was only fired at ranges and I am almost two years in the army.
    Sorry about the bad english but i hope you understand it now.

    The main reason they don't stamp your passport in Israel is because other countries will reject entry for you if you have an Israel stamp in your passport especially Jordan. I can't wait see the rest of upcoming videos hope you have a nice time in Israel thanks for visiting and showing us Salam brothers and sister

    FYI - The gun was actually safe, there's a small bullet-like shape that you insert in the gun with a string that prevents it from loading an actual bullet into the chamber.
    so if you'd wanna shot the gun, you'd have to reload it twice in a row and shot.
