But, no one was criticised for not playing well against a slow bowling. If we have not produced the best fast bowlers, at least we have produced very good fast bowlers and have won matches. Lara is purely fluid genius. that high bat stance and the ability of his hands to manufacture shots even when he is away from the line of the ball. Sachin had the best timing, placement and used a very heavy bat to generate momentum. Also Sachin had tremendous elbow power to carry a bat as heavy as a tennis racket. His cover drive has the same power as a backhand in tennis. Babar has the best heady body balance. Virat is the archetypical modern athlete who is as fit and lean as a football striker like CR7. His elbow power packs a punch. Saeed Anwar had malleable wrists. His cover drive was about wrist work. I found Ricky Ponting's technique to be the best. He gets behind the line of the ball. No gap between bat and pad. Least risk of getting played down or caught in the 15 yard circle. But you sacrifice on packing power into the shot. Essentially copy book Test cricket batting, old school, not very entertaining but very effective.
While all others punches the ball hardly, Sachin just sends it softly to boundaries😉. To me Sachin punches Wasim Akram at 2003 worldcup is master piece. Babar is playing such shots beautifully nowadays

If I have to pick the best cover drives out of all, I would pick Saeed Anwar's drives. So effortless, so stylish/elegant, brilliant timing and just milking the ball in the gaps. But if you ask me to pick the best batsman out of all 6 then it would definitely be Sachin Tendulkar for me. My all time favourite Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar !

Here we miss one class cover drive of Sachin Tendulkar, the backfoot punch shot he played against Wasim Akram during 2003 world cup. He played beautiful cover drive against the greats of Wasim Akram, Waqar Yonus and Shoaib Akhtar in the same match.

Brian Lara's cover drive was like flowing river. Everything about him was magical.
It is clear that lara had class and he could find gaps..but his drive were not classy infact shaky..he was great in finding gaps but his bat turned everytime..sachin' drives were more controlled with straight batted and soft push. There is no comparison..clearly visible.
