In this clip, Aries Spears dismissed speaking about the Lori Harvey and Michael B. Jordan breakup but did have something to say about Lori’s father, Steve Harvey. Aries said that while he respects Steve Harvey’s success, he’s a bit perplexed by the financial advice Steve offers on social media. According to Aries, Steve’s success is due in large part to him having multiple prime-time TV shows, not necessarily his business acumen.
I worked for Steve ( as a P.A. season 5 of Steve Harvey Show). His work ethic is UNMATCHED!!! I left the set one night while he was still shooting his scenes. When I went to sleep (in my car on the Universal lot) he was still working. When I woke up early, like 6 in the morning, Steve was on the radio at his other job on LA radio. I was amazed. When I went to sleep, he was working. When I woke up, he was working. Two different jobs.

I’ve owned a commercial cleaning company 4-5 years now and so has my father for 30+ years. He always tells me “stay ahead of the game”, cause you can show up to a site one day working and the next day they call saying “the contract is cancelled”. It’s better to take in as much as you can handle and never get too comfortable.

You can work one job and still be broke if you don't manage your finances well. You can’t just pull a loan out with 0 credit score and have no money to back you if shit hits the fan. Steve Harvey isn’t putting up seminars for how to create a business or how to play the stock market and hit trades. Steve Harvey talks about the dedication and discipline it takes to stay focused, remain afloat, or wealthy. Regardless of his bank account numbers in comparison to other wealthy men, those values, ethics and morals can apply to ANYONE. I don’t get the discernment for that. I get what Aries is saying but we always hear about broke artists who know their art but don't take care of the business side of things. Clearly, Harvey has taken care of both his comedy and the business side of it, so I think that puts him in a distinct position to give business/financial advice. This take doesn't even make sense because it takes work to have 5 shows on at once otherwise everyone would be doing it. Even just to get the first show takes an obscene level of discipline and perseverance. Saying it's "the easiest way to get rich" is a contradiction. Not to mention that once the money and fame started to roll in from all of the hard work he put in, he started using the money to invest elsewhere, which is what all of the guys like Buffet and Cardone did.
It's not a business. It's just him doing shows. When he steps away, maybe there are royalties from the show, but there's bo business that he built.
He's just working a lot and doing shows. It's like a rapper doing festivals. And getting paid for those festivals.

Most people who are wealthy and giving financial advice started out by working regular jobs to save up capital to invest. Unless they had a rich family member like Cardone or Trump who could just give them a bunch of money to help them get the ball rolling. Steve was broke into adulthood, never gave up, perfected a high-income skill, leveraged his opportunities to create new opportunities, and took the income he made from those opportunities to invest into ventures that would make him more money in his sleep as he continues to do what he clearly loves to do, which is host/act/do comedy/etc. Aries specifically said that Steve getting rich was easy, and that Steve isn't in position to give motivation advice on how to be successful, both of which are false, because doing what he did and continues to do isn't easy, and because of the work it took, and the fact he's achieved success, he's just as qualified as anyone to motivate people.

The more and more I watch Aries the more he seems like a hater. Yes Steve has five shows on at once but it takes a lot of work and grinding to get to the point where you have five shows at once. I don’t think Steve was ever trying to teach financial literacy so much as he was trying to teach hard work. Actually Aries does have a point He's stating that Steve Harvey doesn't make money from any financial investments. He's making money from working hard at many jobs.
On the other hand sometimes being honest comes across as if you're jealous of the man's success if you answer the question as in a backhanded way. All he had to say was I don't take financial advice from Steve Harvey period. But then he goes into why and then talks about him having 5 shows on the air etc, etc, etc. He might be right be now he sounds like a hater.
No need to rationalize how the man got his money and downplay his financial success to justify your lack of finances. That's exactly what he was doing. Personally I don't think Steve is the brightest person in the world but I wouldn't have make a comment like that about a peer publicly!
here's some financial advice: don't spend more than you earn! don't keep up with the joneses! live beneath your means! don't put all of your money in a savings account! learn the art & science of stock investing! observe the spending habits of others, from this you'll learn what and what not to do!
