    Been using DeWalt equipment for almost 20 years, as a plasterer, and drywaller by trade.. I can honestly say. I won't go to any other brand of cordless power tools except DeWalt.

    So the freehand cuts were slow. Could be he likes a nice straight cut. A master can do it quickly and maybe he could too. These saws cut through 2 by lumber quick and easy. Even the 20v does. This Flexvolt saw is the equal of 13 amp corded and close to 15 amp performance on some work with a good blade and battery.

      @@chaselesser3191
      Yes, DeWalt needs to address that issue. The strange part is that they're still making them and stocking them on the shelves with the issue. Just don't know how they can do that.
      I will tell you that i changed the grease on my (DCF 887) to the Amsoil synthetic grease and notice a big difference. It still gets warm when impacting a lot as expected on a impact but not extremely hot. So I'm not sure if it's the low grade grease that might be the issue. Again it could be something else but changing the grease did help.
      Milwaukee also has to fix their gen 3 impact colet issue. That's also annoying and yet they too are putting them on the shelves. That one i couldn't figure out.
      Yes, i use both brands. I now find myself using the milwaukee surge more. I like how quiet it is. Not the fastest but gets the job done for me.

      @@michaelc7283 Both brands have their strong areas. I grew up with dewalt. But I feel Milwaukee has a little more refined/well thought out tools. But flexvolt gives me hope.

      I will have to try that Amsoil grease.

    "Nominal voltage" does not refer to the battery under work load. the stated voltage of the lithium batteries used in those packs are 3.7v ea. They have a max charge voltage of 4.2V, and minimum cutoff voltage of 2.5v typically. So i dont think they are false advertising, as you do get the full stated voltage even with voltage sag under load with a max charge.

    Cross Cutting 2x4s... Any Circular saw can basically do that. Need some long rip cuts at full depth to see how it really performs. Either way still a nice saw, mine is on the way :)

    • @TheCharleseye
      @TheCharleseye Před 3 lety

      I was thinking that. I used to cut 2x4s with an old, blue 5 1/2" Ryobi (at the speed he's cutting). Not exactly a stress test.

    • @somethingtrulyhorrifying
      @somethingtrulyhorrifying Před 3 lety

      @@TheCharleseye I still cut 2x4s with the old blue ryobi, swapped the NiCad out for an aftermarket 6ah lithium and it ain't too shabby. Barely goes through the 2x, gotta press down a bit and run it a couple times to cut clean, otherwise one cut followed by snapping and trimming the piece. I've seen people run this advantage saw hard, dare I say it'll basically rip that 2x4 in the same amount of time he cross cut it, very powerful.

      @@somethingtrulyhorrifying Sounds like you've worn it out, then. A fresh blade and a full (lithium) battery are all it has ever taken for me to cut 2x lumber with mine. Not for much longer, though - I suspect. I just did a 1200 sq/ft laminate floor job and didn't change out the blade when it gummed up. I may have pushed the little saw too far this time. However, it got the job done...again.

    So many complaints about left handed tools. Every circ saw I've owned has been a lefty, even though my technically dominant hand is my right. It's not hard to train yourself to use your non-dominant hand to do anything, just put in that little bit of effort to train your non-dominant hand do do things, faux-ambidexterity is a useful skill that anyone can have. It's amazing how any of these people get work done if all it takes is a left handed saw to make them bitch and whine.
