I’m shooting Fuji exclusively now. Was shifting between Sony and Canon for awhile but I got tired of waiting for Canon to actually make lenses for the rf mount. For Sony, I still love their cameras and they do a fantastic job at being clinical in their execution, but that’s sort of where I got bored with them. The A7R5 is really kind of a masterpiece in photography, but I would argue that the Fuji Xt5 and XH2 are standing tall right behind it. There’s just something about those Fuji colors. They’re just simply fantastic. The latest firmware update for the XT5 has made the autofocus quite good. I’m very happy with it. The XT5 is the camera that goes everywhere with me.

@@gerardneedham Would it be better to buy a secondhand Fujifilm XT3 (or XT5 if available), invest in some lenses, and then purchase a Sony FX30 for cinematic video work? I've heard that Fujifilm's videography capabilities aren't as strong as Sony's.

Old saying - different strokes for different folks. IMO, no problem using mixed/multiple systems if that best fits your needs. Personal preferences differ and can change over time. That’s a more practical and adaptable approach, IMO, than the “fan boy” model. Trade-offs and compromises are to be expected. Shows maturity. (Can get one in trouble, though when approach is applied to girlfriends😊.)

You right. I have not had a sony yet but I can see a major shift in the market towards apsc cameras, due to the the light form factor when going anywhere at anytime photographing everything, as well as being perfect for gimbal use. I've had nikon for a decade, forced to use canon, just don't enjoy them at all, from there got a fuji xt2 after a huge amount of youtube camera assessments and not just buying into the nostalgia of it all. And in all my camera ownership of all types that I have used, nothing, and I repeat nothing comes close to fujifilm. It's size, ergonomics and handling is just streets ahead. Fujifilm cameras are packed with so much in camera editing abilities, such as film types, editing on those film types and saming them as custom presets, pushing more light into shadows are making them darkers for dramatic black and white photography, bringing down the highlights to omit blowouts and doing all this very quickly is just amazing. A fuji is for keeps!

Enjoyed your video. I have both the Viltrox 27mm f/1.2 and the Fuji 18mm f/1.4. Both lenses are very good and super sharp however IMO the images that the Viltrox produces have a very distinctive look about them. Can't describe it but it is very pleasing. The Fuji 18mm f/1.4 is also a great lens and I use that mostly as my day to day all rounder. I have an X-S10 and would love to see how both those lenses perform on a 40mp sensor. If I can find a decent 2nd hand X-T5 at the right price I could be tempted.

if you life depends on it...i will pick sony..but i have the xt5. its just a great camera to hold n use. autofocus etc is good enough for travel and daily use. the most unrelated factor to a good photo is what i love about the xt5 so muxh, even at home its just so nice to hold the camera, slap on a lens, turn the dials to get a shot of my cat (until then can actually recognise the camera and start turning away when i point at them.)

You are in a privileged position where photography is your job and you have the opportunity to try different cameras. You are not making a mistake or doing anything wrong by having two different camera systems.
What matter is what YOU like and makes you enjoy photography. Yes Sony has good AF and IQ, but Fujifilm has th tactile feels, ergonomics, film recipes, their colour science which adds a different dimension to the fun of taking pictures.
I also feel like the Fujifilm community is the best in the hobby. There seems to be this unity and willingness to help and share. Do I wish the AF on the X-T5 was as good as the Sony? Of course. But I don't tend to take many pictures of fast moving objects so it doesn't matter to me a great deal. It's not like it's terrible, it's just not on the level of Sony and I really hope Fujifilm can get on top of it and make it competitive with Sony.
But like I said, there are so many other things about Fujifilm that I love. I'm sure you will too.

I love my Xt3 but using it on the beach completely killed it. A week after my beach visit the on/off switch became hard to turn, i had to pour some WD40 into it and use a pair of pliers to get it to turn, soon after the top right side housing stopped working. i can no longer change the shutter speed using the dedicated top dial. i had to program a scroll wheel to use it. =(
I highly wouldnt recommend using this style camera around sand.

Currently have the XT4 and A6700 ! Unfortunately going to sell the A6700 as well as the XT4 covers most of what I need and the film simulations are great.
However, I like the clinical look the Sony captures for car photography, without having the film look. Do you know if there is a work around this ?

      @gerardneedham  Před 7 měsĂci +1

Yeah XT4 is also a great photo camera, shoot RAW and Jpeg and then edit the RAW photos,
You’ll need to learn White balance correction when using Fuji as you can get the same look as Sony, but Fuji s auto White balance and their WB presets suck ahahah

Umm not at all, I’ve been so ignorant towards Fujifilm and always thought it was over hyped. I tested a bunch, XE4, XT4, X100V ect.
And I didn’t like them, but the XT5 makes alot of sense for me, as I don’t want to travel with my Pro camera body’s and lenses, and I want a fun camera.
It also does make sense having both Sony and Fujifilm for CZcams, and I’ve found Fujifilm audience are less technical and more creative and wanting to learn about the photography process, while the sony audience is a split between professional photographers and tech lovers.
So having a range of audience makes sense

TBH X-T5 was my dream camera, I even start the proces of switching systems, got X-S10 and later X-S20 - huge dissapointment. So maybe X-T5 (photo flagship) would have better AF, proper grip, more modern menu system (whitch is bad - A6400-like). Nope. It just costs more money and look sexier.
I will buy X-T5... shortly before X-T6 will be coming out and the price would be on acceptable level. Now Id rather go for X-T3, for photos its more than enaugh.
