  • Hey guys! Since I get questions about this all the time, I figured I’d make a video dedicated to it. In this video I talk about why I chose CareerFoundry as my bootcamp to help me transition into a UX design career. I also talk about how to choose a UX bootcamp.

    I’m looking into CareerFoundry. They were the first to pop up when I was researching them and kept showing up, so I talked with them. Cool thing is, I’m a Veteran so they are offering a scholarship to attend. I’m also about to finish college with my Tourism, Conventions, and Event Management degree. The reason why I’m looking into this is because I saw the value in it especially if I can take Ux Design and bring it into the event or Tourism industry. I don’t have much civilian experience with events, BUT, adding Ux design to my skill set will help a lot. I already have a certificate for Event Design (Young professional version but still valid). Im hoping to take this and work on event applications or tourism applications and even use it to help a live event such as trade shows in the physical aspect of ux or experience design. Problem I see though is that people will see it as just event Design and downplay the role.

      That's so awesome! In regards to the physical aspect of UX, you should look into service design. Interaction Design Foundation has a course on that, and so does Skillshare. If you're planning on doing case studies in the future, explaining how the product(s) you design connect to a certain industry/work with service design/would simplify an existing process would be very effective. Congrats on finishing college and starting your UX journey!

    Hi Morgan! Just want to start off with saying thank you. Your videos are super helpful. I have a question. How did you get those extra percentages off? I’m looking to try to pay less like you did. I asked my advisor and she is saying the Tuition Reduction Savings is it. I appreciate any advice you have.

      So sorry I missed this (holidays), that sucks that they won't let you combine. I guess they changed their structure :( Good for you for reaching out and checking though.

    What's the balance of written vs video in a CF lesson? In their free intro course it's mostly written and includes the content on their YT channel. Is it different or similar with the paid courses?

    • @MorganUX
      @MorganUX  Před rokem +1

      It is mostly written. There will SOMETIMES be instructional videos to go with the written instruction that either shows you how to complete the task, or dives deeper into the topic. Keep in mind I finished this bootcamp 2 years ago, so things might have changed!

      I have seen advertisements but I don't know much about the quality of their courses

      The bootcamp quality is okay-ish but their second program, career jumpstart, is wonderful 👍

    Why didn't you finish? Was it school related?

    • @MorganUX
      @MorganUX  Před rokem +3

      Part of it was that I was really focused on building case studies that were UX focused, part of it was I was job hunting and interviewing, but I was also distracted by unnecessary courses (like in XR design) outside of my bootcamp.

      CareerFoundry's bootcamps are not free, but they have a free 6 lesson trial as well as a really educational blog.
