  • This video is a review & Demonstration on the FLEX SANDER ORE 5-150 EC SET. I highly recommend this one, especially for those at home because you don't need a compressor to run it.

i was gonna mention the mirka too, but apparently i wouldn't be the first, lol. was sceptical of electric sanders at first after using pneumatic ones since starting out but they're cracking bits of kit. hope you're settling into the new job well, the paint jobs you've been posting on ig seem to be your usual absolutely spanking quality, regardless of new systems :p

Mirka which is the brand I use at work (luxury boat finisher, and I do maintenance on the moulds) are freaking good. And Rupes also, I've had the chance to use one a couple times from a guy who came over for a couple months. But, they're pretty costly.
PS: I've only used pneumatics ... since we repaint (gelcoat), air is everywhere and electrical tools are forbidden in our work environment (we wear AX+P gas masks all day).

Hi Gunnie, try Mirka abranet with a proper dust extractor. I was 3m with abrasives but if you haven’t tried mirka abranet/auto net give it a go. You know I’m a 3m man, but imagine a disc that lasts longer than a 3m disc and gets no sanding buildup on the disc. I have to mentally make a note how long I use a mirka disc for as it doesn’t get clogged like a 3m disc does. When have I given you the wrong advise. And dust extraction is one up on 3m too.

Its the vibration that causes your hand to go numb. Having severe carpal syndrome with damage to the median nerve, i lived it. With no more damage and living a good clean life (ha!) my hands will still go numb with high vibration (grinder, hammer drill, or even da for long periods of time). Good to know this orbital doesnt do that.

Hi Gunny, liking the new content, good to see some polishing/detailing vids recently. I've got a Tuxedo VK that will be needing some finishing in the next few months and there's lots of good tips you've put up recently. So in reply, a tip from me :) If you're going to be using a vacuum for dust extraction I can highly recommend putting a cyclone inline before the vacuum. It will save you a fortune in cleaner bags and will keep the extraction suction more consistent over a longer time. I don't think there's anything commercially available but a DIY option is relatively easily achieveable. Cheers. czcams.com/video/wGpsy1PmTOw/video.html
