I bet you don't even know the different between Sandybridge, Ivybridge, Haswell, Haswell-E, Sandybridge-E, Ivybridge-E and their relation to Xeon processors or the difference between the X99 and Z97. There's is an immense amount of information involved with familiarizing one's self with computer hardware that takes YEARS to understand the intricacies - obviously you're quite presumptuous and ignorant - why don't you go to www.pcper.com and Linus Tech Tips (and "As Fast as Possible" series), bury yourself in that content for about 3 months and then we'll have an intelligent conversation - until then you're just making as ass of yourself. Do you really think I bought my Ivybridge Macbook Pro for gaming? That's what my 4770k with two 660 Ti's in SLI are for!
Always right The GPU in this thing out performs the 780M found in the non-retina models, and that thing runs pretty much anything you can throw at it (I know, I'm using one right now) so I don't know where you're getting your information from. It just sounds like you're a PC nvidia fanboy who can't accept anything but his chosen platform and GPU vendor can work as well.

I want that computer, But as first computer I think I'll go for the Mac mini... That computer as the 2nd desktop computer... I'm really impressed by how long you can use a mac, My dad has one since 2009 and it still works like the first day. Can you maybe do a full review on the mac mini? I don't know which of the 2 I should go for.

Awesome! Please do a review of the performance for FCPX as I am a video editor and unsure if the graphics can handle 4k editing smoothly! :)
It can. They had demo's of 4K RAW video footage on the display units at the event and they usually put the same ones on the Macs in the Apple Store. Go check them out there if you have one near you. They're a thing of wonder. If they don't have them on the display machines then ask a member of staff and I'm sure they'll be happy to go grab a demo file to show you. Even a MacBook Pro can handle the stuff incredibly well so this thing will scream.

Can't wait to see the performance of the retina imac. It's only a few hundred more than an equivalently specked non retina imac which I find amazing. Kudos Apple. I'm only waiting for some real world tests to make sure the retina screen doesn't lag performance...but otherwise I'm gonna pull the trigger. The only thing I'm bummed about is that you can't use the retina imac as a monitor like you can with the non retina iMacs.
Kind of obvious retina macs can't be used as monitors because it requires parts other than display.

Apple should make a + sized computer like the Iphone 6 and call it the big mac.

5k screen is awesome. But I'm bummed you won't be able to use it as an external monitor to use with future MacBooks. You can use the non retina iMacs as monitors via TDM, and that's great for extending the usefulness of your imac once it cannot run future operating systems. Its nice to at least be able to use as a monitor down the road. Unfortunately the retina imac cannot do this.

Would you recommend this for a Communication and Digital Media student? I will be going to college next year and I'll be using Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects, and Photoshop a lot, I was thinking of getting a high end Macbook Pro, but I'm tempted at buying this 5k iMac instead, any thoughts?

I think this is cheaper than building a 4k capable computer, the cheapest 4k monitor right now is $999, the only 5k monitor today is from dell which is $2500 plus you will need a custom PC to run 4k which will probably cost $2000-3000, this for 2500 dollars you have a 5k display, an all in one computer plus an Apple Logo in it. lol

It would be great to use that for movies or even games :) but I would love to give something like that away someday just to make people happy. Sadly, getting a job after graduating and paying loans comes first.. by then Apple will probably have a completely new line of stuff! Great review thanks for your time into making it!

it´s great that this video came so fast, I´m very interested into the new IMac also I´m not going to buy it.
I´m also very interested into the IPhone 6+ and the knew IPad Air. The last IPad Air felt a bit cheep i think so i´ve been waiting for the knew one. I don´t have enough money to buy the 6+ and the IPad Air 2 so i have to decide for one of them.
The 6+ is a great phone and it would be a nice change but the ipad would be perfect to work with at school.
What would you recommend me to do ?

I'd never heard of NovaBench but I downloaded it after seeing it here, and my 27" 2011 iMac (3.5GHz ivy bridge i7, 32gb ram, 2GB 6970M) actually scored higher in it than the Retina imac in this video - 1186.

Can this iMac with Retina 5K display good enough for 4k 3D video or film editing for serious business?
I would assume so, but if the business had the cash they would probably invest in a super-spec Mac Pro. Despite the fact it looks like a fancy bin... ;)
The awesome thing about the iMac 5k is that when you load programs like iMovie and Final Cut Pro, you can work in 4k space whilst having the tools for editing around the bottom and let hand side, allowing for seamless 4k viewing.
You joking right.imacs are made specifically for editing.thats it. You can game on this but not recommend.
